The Pandemic—A Test of Relationships

According to recent articles, the pandemic has beenextremely hard on relationships.  Divorcein America hit a record low in 2019, but there are signs that statistic is onthe rise. Lights, camera, action!

When I saw this month’s topic, I instantly thought of on-screen partnerships in film. My favourite by far is the dancing duo of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, who appeared together in ten films. I watch their movies whenever they come on TV because I know exactly what I’ll be seeing -  seemingly effortless dancing and witty dialogue (and gorgeous costumes).  While I enjoy the dreamy

On a Whim, With No Regrets

By Diana McCollum      Ten years ago, my Sister Sarah, one of the blog queens, approached me with an idea her friend, Judith, the other blog queen, and her had of starting a weekly blog. Judith, Sarah and Me! The idea seemed interesting. It did take me a while to warm up to the idea. I would have to blog once a week about writing, life or whatever interested me. Not hard at all, right? Besides,

A Bite of British Culture by Alice Rosewell

Hello again from a rain-swept South-West of England, and manycongratulations to all at Romancing the Genres on your 10th Anniversary. As always I write in British English so spellings may beunfamiliar to some. If you say the words “number 10”to most people in the UK, they would immediately think of Number 10 Downing St,the home of the British Prime Minister. Don’t worry! I’m not going to

10 Years of Blogging

Ten years in the blogging world is a major achievement—so congratulations to everyone who has contributed to this blog over the past decade. Blogs come and go with wild abandon, so to consistently create content for ten years is an event worth celebrating.I've been an avid blogger for years. I have multiple blogs (too many to admit too). And although I dabbled with publishing words online in 2008

Expect the Unexpected: 10 Examples by Sarah Raplee

One of my favorite sayings is "Expect the unexpected" or "You never know what life will bring." Here are ten examples from my life that illustrate how unpredictable life can be - and that's okay.Weather. In 2008 we lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, when the worst flood in a thousand years hit the Midwest.More recently I found a voice mail on my phone from my oldest son, who still lives in Iowa. "Mom,

Ten Small Ways to Change a Big World

By Courtney PierceLife is like a sausage machine. How it comesout depends on the quality of the ingredients you put in. The life-links taste even better when the meat is raised on a local family-run farm. It’s no wonder why we feel defeated. Our lives are globally managed from, what feels like, a million miles away. Reach is out of reach. I want to touch something, and I’m convinced that an
