There's no place like ...

Some writers can work in noisy coffee shops, in front of the TV, or while listening to a curated soundtrack specific to their work-in-progress, but not me. I need quiet and a room of my own. But sitting at my desk for hours at a time isn’t healthy, so, particularly at this time of year, I step outside. Warm sun on my face, fresh air in my lungs, and beauty all around refills my creative well.I

Striving for Authenticity by Paty Jager

While I enjoy a book that is set in a location where I’venever been, I find setting a book in a real place is hard.Over the years, I have set most of my books in areas that Ienjoyed visiting. Where I Am Takes Me Where I Need to Be

As an author whose first love is mystery/suspense, I keepscenery description to a minimum. Which means the imagery I do include on thepage must carry a lot of impact. The locale doesn’t have to be Rio de Janeiroexciting, but it must be realistic. And interesting.I don’t set contemporary stories in a place I’ve never been. Why? As an author who also writes fantasy, I know world building is

One author...many titles!

This month's theme is IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, or #ICYMI for those of us who are hashtag aficionados. I actually have 2 books that have been released this month - one indie, one traditionally published - that I didn't do a great deal of promoting due to... life stuff happening at the same time. I released my first Western romance with a paranormal twist this month.  THE SHERIFF & THE PSYCHIC is
