Love Among the Stars #scifi #romance
Hi, I'm Pippa Jay, author of scifi and supernatural stories with a romantic soul. When I wrote my debut novel back in 2009, I never considered it a romance. Unlike many of my peers in all genres of romance, I didn't come from a romance background but a scifi and fantasy one. I am a complete and utter geek. I grew up reading and watching speculative fiction where, if there was a love story, to

Once Upon A Time
Once
upon a time a woman was walking along a path gathering herbs. She hummed as she
went about her work and at one point stood tall to stretch her back. The sun
was out and she pushed the hood of her cloak back and for a moment paused and
lifted her face to the warmth.
Unbeknownst
to her, she was being watched. The man, the local priest, stood on an upper
path. When she stretched her back,

Why I'm Loving, "The Art of Inheriting Secrets" by Barbara O'Neal. Blog by Dora Bramden.
I’m currently reading The Art of Inheriting Secrets by Barbara O’Neal. It’s a story of a food writer drawn by grief and the discovery of her mother’s secret life to visit the manor house she grew up in. Even though the roof has fallen in and plants are growing in the once grand rooms, Olivia Shaw feels a responsibility to take what has been forgotten and make it beautiful again.

The Nebra Sky Disc
When I was writing my first novel, I

Discovering a Lost Art by Paty Jager
Do you ever listen to music from another culture? I don't mean you grew up listening to the Jive and now listen to today's Rock.
Native American, Central American, Chinese, Andes. I have CDs with music from all of these places. I listen to it as I write first drafts of books.
Why you might ask? I've had books with either characters of these nationalities or set in the areas. By

THRILLERS WITH HEART by CJ Lyons
HART AND DRAKE SERIES
Hi, I’m CJ Lyons, a pediatric ER doc turned
New York Times and award-winning
thriller author. I coined the term “Thrillers with Heart” to describe the
unique cross-genre stories I tell. Stories that aren’t as much about the
science or technology, the car crashes or explosions, as they are about the
gray areas between the black and white of good and evil.

Writers Who’ve Influenced (and Entertained) Me
By Linda Lovely
Over the years—okay, decades—I’ve loved hundreds of mystery,
romantic suspense, and thriller novels penned by a host of female and male
authors. However, I have to credit four women authors for having the greatest
influence on my approach to developing characters and plots for crime novels. These
authors are Sue Grafton, Sara Paretsky, Susan Isaacs, and Janet Evanovich.

The Old and the New
by M. L. Buchman
"What writers have most influenced your writing?"
As a writer, I get that question all the time. And I've had an answer that I've liked for a long time:
"Well, I'm not sure who influenced me, but I can tell you the writers who I've read almost everything they've written: Arthur C. Clarke, a lot of Heinlein and Asimov, the complete fiction of Ayn Rand and Herman Hesse (read in

SOMETHING RICH AND STRANGE by Sarah Raplee
This post was first published at Romancing the Genres in 2015.
I love reading and writing stories set in worlds that are
enough like our own to be recognizable, but have, to quote the Bard, undergone
“a sea change into something rich and strange.” Think of fairytales, The
Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis or Alice Hoffman’s Practical
Magic, the Pirates of the Caribbean films or television
