THE ALEX CHRONICLES PART 2 DONE

I know I just posted that I was pushing to complete two books.  I’m so excited to share this.  Last night, I finished the rough draft The Alex Chronicles Part 2…YEAH!!!

I finished it a month and eight days ahead of schedule.  Now I’ll put it aside for a month and then start the hard work, editing.  I like the next leg of the story.  I think it sets up Part Three well.  Yes, there’s a Part Three and like Part Two, it has to be re-written.

Finishing this book early gives more time to work on Generational Curse Part Two.

Happy Thanksgiving…

Generational Curse Part Two Writing Challenge

Last week I finally went back to work on part two of GENERATIONAL CURSE.  I was hoping to have it completed by the anniversary date of part one.  Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen.  Let me rephrase that, I might have a rough  version completed by the end of the year.

Earlier this year, I joined a writing challenge for The Alex Chronicles Part Two.  I chose that book, because it was complete.  It only needed a polish.  Unfortunately, I had rewritten part one which affected the plot of part two.  You already know where I’m headed with this.  That meant a rewrite.   That  rewrite, threw off my schedule.

So now, I’m trying to complete two big books by the end of the year.  And it gets more complicated, because they’re written in different voice.  The Alex series is written in multiple first person POV and the Generational Curse series is in third person POV.

The other day, I got a little nervous when it seemed like I had forgotten how to write in third person.  My personal writing preference is first person.  But for the Generational Curse series, third person works best.

I’m excited about the way Generational Curse part two is coming along.  I think you’ll like.   It has a title, but it might change.  Currently, it’s called Intentional Curse.  Part Two revolves around Kyla’s baby sister Corianne and her husband Dexter.   So far, it’s shaping up to be a very juicy story.   If you didn’t like Eric in part one, you definitely won’t like Dexter.  I think he might be slimier than Eric.

I’ve been asked if Kyla and Sean will be in this book and the answer is yes.  I’m not sure about the other characters yet, because this is about Corianne and her world.   This story has  my first interracial pairing plus a few new characters to like, love and dislike.

The other question I get is “What happened to Chris and Trina?”  I might answer that question with a novella.  The same with Eric and Olivia.  I myself would like to know what happened to them.  We’ll see.

In the meantime, I’m on a mission or challenge to get this book completed in six weeks.  Scary thought, I know, but I’ve got a plan…10,000 words a week.  So far, this week’s total is 6,814.  Let’s see how I finish out the week.

Have a great weekend.

Tracy

Pre-Sale for The Alex Chronicles: What My Friends Don’t Know

Alex-1-Website-Image

I have some exciting news to share about my book THE ALEX CHRONICLES: WHAT MY FRIENDS DON’T KNOW.

I’m very close to giving birth to my first born.  If you’ve been following my blog, you know that’s how I’ve been referring to this book.  A brief review.  What My Friends Don’t Know, is the first book I wrote.   Thinking about it, I’m wondering if I can still call it my first born, since it’s changed drastically since the original finished manuscript.

I never thought about the revised book and it’s new look.  So maybe now I need to rename it as my fourth book, even though, I know it was my first.

Like a woman scheduled for a cesarean, my book has a birthdate.  And like most “scheduled” births, it might change.  However, my baby is scheduled to enter the publishing world on January 19, 2016.  YEAH!!!

To celebrate, my baby, THE ALEX CHRONICLES: WHAT MY FRIENDS DON’T KNOW, will be available for pre-order at iBooks starting today for $2.99.

I’ll keep you posted as more pre-order links become available.

TRUFFLE POPCORN…Perfect Indulgence

One of the simplest snacks to make is also one of the most decadent, elegant and romantic.  POPCORN.

Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks.  Often, making a big batch for dinner along with a glass of something bubbly or still.

When I was in Napa a couple of years ago, I visited the Chandon Winery.  Make it a must see when you go to Napa.  I also stopped by one of my East Coast favorites, Dean & Deluca.  I hear you now wondering what this has to do with my opening statement.  While I was at Dean & Deluca, is bought some Truffle Salt.  The service person suggested I try it on popcorn.  POPCORN.

I was shocked at her suggestion.  I’ve had truffle fries, mashed potatoes and eggs…a few more decadent treats.  But it never occurred to me to try it on popcorn.  When I returned home I immediately made some truffle popcorn.  Oh My God!  It was incredible.

Back to my opening statement.  Some friends made a surprise visit and all I had was popcorn, truffle salt and a little olive oil.  I made a batch and they were very impressed.

This week, I got an email from Chandon Winery…of course I joined their mailing list.  Here’s their link  Chandon.com.  Not only can you order wine, you can also get recipes.  The other day, I got this post on Truffle Popcorn and thought I’d share it with you.  If you’re looking for a decadent treat for yourself or for a romantic movie night, try this recipe.

I can’t wait to try this recipe.

Truffle Popcorn

Truffle Popcorn

Mixing truffles with your popcorn is a little like drinking étoile Brut at a baseball game: delightfully original and perfectly delicious.

Prized for their pungent and earthy taste, truffles have been hunted since antiquity in the forests of France and Italy, where they grow wild among the roots of truffle oaks.

The intense flavor of the black truffle is best showcased in bland dishes like mashed potatoes, risotto and scrambled eggs.

White truffle oil (which is simply olive oil with truffle aroma added to it) has a slightly peppery, garlicky taste. A little goes a long way.

Makes about 8 quarts of popcorn

6 Tbsp unsalted butter
1 Tbsp minced black truffle (optional)
1 tsp white truffle oil
Salt
3 Tbsp vegetable oil
2 cups popcorn kernels
Freshly ground pepper

In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir in the truffles, truffle oil and a pinch of salt; keep warm.

In a large, heavy pot, heat the vegetable oil. Add the popcorn kernels, cover and cook over moderate heat until the popcorn starts popping. Continue cooking, shaking the pan continuously, until the popping has almost stopped.

Carefully pour the popcorn into a very large bowl, add the truffled butter and toss well. Season with salt and pepper and serve right away.

Microwave Instructions

In a cup or small bowl, mix together the unpopped popcorn and 2 tablespoons oil. Pour the coated corn into a brown paper lunch sack, and sprinkle in the salt. Fold the top of the bag over twice to seal in the ingredients.

Cook in the microwave at full power for 2½ to 3 minutes, or until you hear pauses of about 2 seconds between pops.

Carefully pour the popcorn into a very large bowl, add the truffled butter and toss well. Season with salt and pepper and serve right away.
