Meet Me in St. Louis
Tonight at 7:30, I'll be reading with Phillip B Williams at St. Louis' Observable Reading Series. If you're in the area, stop by Llywelyn's Pub, 4747 McPherson Ave, to say hello and get your poetry fix for the day.

Adrienne
The new issue of
Adrienne
appeared on my doorstep yesterday, and I've been using my extra "fall back" hour this morning to enjoy its poetry.
Thanks to Valerie Wetlaufer for including my poems in this lovely issue, as well as for introducing me to so many amazing queer writers.

Three Reviews and a Congeries
This month, I've got new poems out in three journals:
"Wild Child (Slight Return)" in Paterson Literary Review
"Letter to Half a Lifetime Ago" in North American Review
and
"A Theory of Violence [In the museum of sex...]" and "Embarrassment: from baraço (halter)" in New Ohio Review
John Hoppenthaler also included three of my poems--"The Mystic Speaks of Attachment," "Lust | Chastity," and "Mobility"--in the September 2014 Congeries at Connotation Press.
Thanks to all the editors for shepherding these poems into the world!

Remixing Shakespeare
D. Gilson has put together a really fascinating collection of poems that "remix" Shakespeare's sonnets. I love lots of these, especially the remix of #8 by Stephen S. Mills and #23 by Randall Mann. For my own remix, I chose #127, taking some inspiration from this Vanity Fair cover:

Teaching and Comfort Zones
The folks at Spoon River Poetry Review put together a great conversation about how teaching poetry that raises issues of gendered violence reveals and moves the borders of our comfort zones. I'm glad to read the thoughtful ideas and experiences of poets like Tyler Mills, Grace Bauer, and Sarah Chavez as I think through the work I'll be doing with students this fall.

Sumer Is Icumen In & Poems Are Icumen Out
New issues of two great journals, Meridian and Revolution House, are now available online. Meridian includes my poem, "Piblokto," and Revolution House was kind enough to publish two of my poems, "Yoke" and "Temperance | Gluttony." Thanks to the editors of both journals!
Writing about Gender Violence: Taboos and Appeals
The folks at
Blotterature
just published a three-part interview with writers from Women Write Resistance: Poets Resist Gender Violence as part of their Blot Lit Reviews. The interview features the anthology's editor, Laura Madeline Wiseman, alongside some of my favorite poets, including Tyler Mills and Sarah Chavez. Check it out to read the many-faceted perspectives from writers in the anthology on what we think about whether writing about gender violence has any taboos and whether it should "appeal to men."
