sir-robert:

What I’m holding isn’t just a vinyl record.
It’s a vinyl record that contains me within its grooves.
My music, my voice, my hands playing my instruments.
A beautiful musical moment, pressed and preserved for good.

Of course, it’s one of many beautiful, amazing songs pressed onto two unique vinyl records
(the vinyl is 100% recycled vinyl - no two records are alike in their color design)

This is still so very surreal, and it’s sinking in how real this really is.

It’s so crazy that a little instrumental song I created in my dad’s garage last summer, is now pressed on vinyl, probably being played right now by someone, somewhere.

Fucking. Insane.

I share this awesome moment with the talented people I worked with on ‘Diamond in the Rough‘
and many thanks to my fellow producers & collaborators on the vinyl (Dr. Gory, KamPAIGN, Matt Conely, KrrrSchmidt, Metaphorest, Malicore, Ryan Patrick,
 and, of course, Joe)

Thanks guys.
Long live vinyl.

HitRECord

Well done Mr. Beardo.

Late on our premiere night, The Boss, The Lady, Joe and The Kid.

Late night after premiere of @LOOPERmovie at #TIFF. When a friend’s the one snapping, you don’t have to smile, so we decided to pose all frowny.

My apologies, this is a little crude.  But I laughed.

If anyone knows the source, lemme know.  (There’s a joke just waiting to be made there, right?)

Remix at its finest.

I featured this for a few reasons:

One, it’s goddamn true.
Two, it visually expresses the literal idea so cleverly.
Three, it’s a great example of how one artist (videotroph) can have an idea, make a request, and another artist can fulfill that request and complete the idea.
Four, anyone inspired by this one ought to check out the hitRECord manifesto collab that videotroph started. tori and IrmaVep have been doing tons of great visual work on it for a while, and I think it’s a project with a bright future.

BURNING dAN: hitRECord’s Big Brother. Temple of Juno, Black Rock City, Nevada, 2012.

I gave Jeff the first-ever test pressing of our new record to bring with him to the Temple at Burning Man.  I’ve only been to Burning Man three times, so other burners can chime in, but I think it’s safe to say the Temple is the most sanctified place in the whole joint.  It’s always a unique, beautiful and massive structure, and reverent people go there to honor the dead and remember to live.  Then they burn it up on Sunday night while thousands watch in observant silence.  Last year, I brought the first-ever copy of RECollection there to go up in that ceremonious blaze.  A million thanks to the Peffamist for bringing Move On The Sun there this year.

Here you can listen to all the music…

For those who don’t know, dan helped me start hitRECord in its early incarnations, and he would be absolutely astonished and giddy at how good the art has gotten that we all make together.  We couldn’t do it without him.

Did you know that our vinyl release of MOVE ON THE SUN was produced using recycled vinyl records?  The result is that each cut of vinyl is a slightly different color and 100% unique.

Dr. Gory magically received Burning dan colors…

What’d you get!? POST PHOTOS, I WANNA SEE!  :oD

“Do you think Joseph Gordon-Levitt could grow up to be Bruce Willis? Well, writer-director Rian Johnson, who worked resonantly with Gordon-Levitt on the 2006 high-school film noir Brick, sure does. The result is Looper, a groundbreaking, time-travel thriller that performs miracles on a scant $35 million budget.”

Thanks Peter!  I can only hope I’m that cool by the time I’m fifty-seven…
