The inevitable, inescapable Holiday Letter

…or the "adult" continuation of the What I Did During Summer Vacation tradition.

If I'd sent out a raft of holiday cards, this is the letter that would have been inside the envelope:

The year has flown past, possibly because I did quite a bit of traveling or maybe because I'm getting . . . → Read More: The inevitable, inescapable Holiday Letter

The Digital Nativity

This morning's inbox brought me a bit of humor from my cousin…

It's clever all by itself, but, once I stopped chuckling, I realized that it was actually a tutorial in social networking and suddenly I had new insights into this whole social networking thing.

Between it and TIME magazine's "Person of . . . → Read More: The Digital Nativity

Seeking North

We talk.  The three of us inside Closed Circle (Jane, CJ, and me) talk – not as often as we could or should, but we're trying to do better at not letting time and the better part of a continent stall our communication.  We're scheduling weekly conversations now and have actually managed . . . → Read More: Seeking North

Getting into the spirit…

Okay, first off – who knew there were professional gift wrappers?  That one sort of got past me

But, given that there are professional gift wrappers, I suppose it's no great surprise that there is at least one gift-wrapping competition…

http://mostgiftedwrapper.com/

or that the 2010 competition had been held in the . . . → Read More: Getting into the spirit…

Review: Recycled

Recycled by Selina Rosen My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Since the theme-park admission prices have gone stratospheric, I've been turning to Drewcila Qwah when I need my thrill-a-minute, roller-coaster fix. Fast-paced and rollicking doesn't begin to describe this sequel to Queen of Denial, and mixed in with the fun are the . . . → Read More: Review: Recycled

New things in the recycling and buzz-phrase departments…

My shallow-but-wide net has pulled in a few interesting items today.

Indestructables (source of last year's laundry balls and bath bombs…no ordinary hand-made gifts leave this address) has come up with a list of things to do with dud discs, of which I have way more than I need since I . . . → Read More: New things in the recycling and buzz-phrase departments…

Further adventures of the Laundry Beast

For the last few months Elaine has been regaling me with tales of the Laundry Beast, a recent addition to her household.  I've not met it, but apparently it has at least three mesh-bag suspended from a metal frame and lives in the master bedroom where it has tamed Elaine's rampant . . . → Read More: Further adventures of the Laundry Beast

Leesburg Equinox

We passed through the 2010 Autumnal Equinox a few hours ago.  The planet was standing straight up on its axis for a moment or two.  In another few hours the Harvest Moon will be full.  All of which meant that there was a pretty impressive sunset/moonrise going on a few hours . . . → Read More: Leesburg Equinox

Another year older…

You might think that not needing to visit one's mother in the hospital, or worse, would be cause for great rejoicing, for renewed purpose and accomplishment..but, then, you wouldn't be me.  I've untangled a good many mysteries over the year, but I haven't a clue why I so frequently react to . . . → Read More: Another year older…
