Lisa de Nikolits is the author of ten novels:

10. The Rage Room: “In her latest captivating book, Lisa de Nikolits proffers not only a roller coaster of entertainment, but also, sharp political commentary in complicated times. The Rage Room is an intricately woven dystopian world, rich in strong female characters who easily whisk readers to a world of futuristic follies. Move over George Orwell—De Nikolits shows us how the future can be scary, exciting, and above all, female.”

If I don't have a big idea to work on, then I write sentences, fragments (observations/poems) that I may or may not use later. My motto is 'write one thing a day' and I do - sometimes that thing is thousands of words, other times it's only a sentence. 'Just one thing a day' is how I do it, and I don't look beyond that or stress because I haven't written more. After all, novels are made up of one sentence after another! (less)

And when a story starts to really gel and come together, it's one of the best feelings in the world! And when people like (or even hate) your characters, they are relating to them in a real way, as if they were real people, and it doesn't get better than that! I love entertaining people too. I know, for me, that escaping into a good book is one of life's greatest pleasures and that I can offer that to a reader, is such an incredible gift. I know how much books mean to me, so to be part of the crowd who helps create them, well, I feel truly blessed.(less)

The Three B's of 2021

When Covid-19 first hit and we were all sent to work from home, we had no idea what was in store. We all chatted about being given time to reflect, to work in quiet solitude and peace and regroup. We all thought we'd have more time to think.

What ensued was the opposite of peace. WFH turned out to be a frenzy of online activity, learning new skills and adapting to the new norm of muting our mics, Read more of this blog post »

The Rage Room by Lisa de Nikolits
"From the two other de Nikolits novels which I've read so far I was expecting a slightly off-kilter, sometimes laugh-out-loud funny, sometime satirical, and always propulsive take on the foibles and concerns of our world. I wasn't disappointed.

Quite simply one of my favourite books ever. A funny, profound and highly original tale that harkens back to Animal Farm but delivers a perfectly timed 2020 spin.

Joseph Brodsky
“When hit by boredom, let yourself be crushed by it; submerge, hit bottom. In general, with things unpleasant, the rule is: The sooner you hit bottom, the faster you surface. The idea here is to exact a full look at the worst. The reason boredom deserves such scrutiny is that it represents pure, undiluted time in all its repetitive, redundant, monotonous splendor.

Boredom is your window on the properties of time that one tends to ignore to the likely peril of one's mental equilibrium. It is your window on time's infinity. Once this window opens, don't try to shut it; on the contrary, throw it wide open.”
