Lisa de Nikolits is the author of eight novels:

8. Rotten Peaches, "Wow. Just wow. Lisa de Nikolits’ Rotten Peaches blew me away. A dark, compulsive, and addictive story in which the characters’ secrets and needs conflict with each other and fold back in on themselves in an ever-tightening noose, Rotten Peaches will keep readers gripped until the very last page. Highly recommended!" —Karen Dionne, internationally bestselling author of The Marsh King’s Daughter

7. No Fury Like That, a murder mystery with excellent reviews by Metroland Media and high profile international crime writers. No Fury Like That will be published in Italian, under the title Una furia dell'altro mondo, in 2019.

If I don't have a big idea to work on, then I write sentences, fragments (observations/poems) that I may or may not use later. My motto is 'write one thing a day' and I do - sometimes that thing is thousands of words, other times it's only a sentence. 'Just one thing a day' is how I do it, and I don't look beyond that or stress because I haven't written more. After all, novels are made up of one sentence after another! (less)

And when a story starts to really gel and come together, it's one of the best feelings in the world! And when people like (or even hate) your characters, they are relating to them in a real way, as if they were real people, and it doesn't get better than that! I love entertaining people too. I know, for me, that escaping into a good book is one of life's greatest pleasures and that I can offer that to a reader, is such an incredible gift. I know how much books mean to me, so to be part of the crowd who helps create them, well, I feel truly blessed.(less)

People who know me know that I love nothing better than promoting the work of another writer that I’ve discovered - a hidden treasure as it were. I even have a website to this end, The Minerva Reader, which has been neglected of late due to my own writing projects but I’ll be returning to that as soon as I can – I’ve got a stash of treasure lined up!

People who know me also know that I love not... Read more of this blog post »

First Person by Richard Flanagan
"Australian men do man things. The men are so manly with their man problems. Occasionally there is an incidental woman who is hugely pregnant like a whale, or has an evilly lipsticked mouth, or who likes to take selfies. But what of the MEN? How wi..." Read more of this review »

"Ghostwriting—what a thankless task: After countless hours of subsuming the self in another’s life story and personality, you get hardly any credit, not even a byline. But for Kif Kehlmann, the narrator of Flanagan’s seventh novel, it’s a quick rou..." Read more of this review »

First Person by Richard Flanagan
"I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the premise for this: a penniless writer is promised $10,000 to ghost write the memoirs of a notorious criminal in six weeks. Part thriller, part literary introspective study..." Read more of this review »

Joseph Brodsky
“When hit by boredom, let yourself be crushed by it; submerge, hit bottom. In general, with things unpleasant, the rule is: The sooner you hit bottom, the faster you surface. The idea here is to exact a full look at the worst. The reason boredom deserves such scrutiny is that it represents pure, undiluted time in all its repetitive, redundant, monotonous splendor.

Boredom is your window on the properties of time that one tends to ignore to the likely peril of one's mental equilibrium. It is your window on time's infinity. Once this window opens, don't try to shut it; on the contrary, throw it wide open.”
