some good reviews are bad for you

I have rarely disagreed with a reviewer more. Except for the part where Gould says that both of my books to date are "imperfect and uneven in quality," and anything else in that vein, I generally disagree with everything HG says about both my work and today's literary milieu. I don't think, eg, we live in obfuscatory times. This is one amazing time to be alive and writing. But the fact is that
