Fragments of Ash book release tour!
Fragments of Ash
Katy Regnery
(A Modern Fairytale #7)
Publication date: October 1st 2018
Genres: Fairy Tales, Romance, New Adult
From New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery comes a dark and twisted retelling of the beloved fairytale, Cinderella!
My name is Ashley Ellis…
I was thirteen years old when my mother – retired supermodel, Tig – married Mosier Răumann, who was twice her age and the head of the Răumann crime family.
When I turned eighteen, my mother mysteriously died. Only then did I discover the dark plans my stepfather had in store for me all along; the debauched “work” he expected me to do.
With the help of my godfather, Gus, I have escaped from Mosier’s clutches, but his twin sons and henchmen have been tasked with hunting me down. And they will stop at nothing to return my virgin body to their father
…dead or alive.
** Contemporary Romance. Due to profanity and very strong sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.**

I was given a chance to interview Katy’s Heroine, Ashley. Here’s what Ashley had to say about herself and her story:
Tell me a little about yourself (what do you look like, where do you live, what book are you in)
My name is Ashley Ellis. I’m 5’10”, blonde and blue-eyed. Right now, I don’t really live anywhere. I’m on the run from my stepmonster!
How do you evolve during the course of the story/series?
I do. I learn to both reach out for the help I need, and to become more reliant on myself. Also, through reading my mother’s diaries, I am able to somewhat mend my relationship with her posthumously.
Do you have an enemy or nemesis? If so, who are they and how did they become an enemy?
My stepfather and stepbrothers, who are part of an organized crime family, have terrible plans for me. I didn’t realize what these plans were until after my mother passed away. But I was so horrified that I ran away from home.
What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?
I have never really felt safe. My mother—supermodel, Tig—was a celebrity who married my stepfather, Mosier Raumann, when I was only thirteen years old. I was sent away to boarding school and only called back home after she died. Now that I’m on the run from the Raumanns, staying safe is more difficult than ever before. I live in constant fear of being found by Mosier and dragged back to that life.
What is the one event that you feel has helped to shape your personality?
Because my mother was a supermodel with a substance abuse problem, my early childhood was really turbulent. She was often off on shoots, and when she was home, she partied around the clock. She had me when she was sixteen, and I don’t think she ever really wanted me. But I guess having a chaotic childhood made me more resilient.
Are you involved in a romance? If so with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?
Shhh. I’m afraid if I talk about him that Mosier will find out. But there is someone who makes me wish for something I’ve never dreamt of before: a happy ending.
What is the one thing you want the most in the whole world?
More than anything, I’d like a normal life in which I’m loved, valued and protected. I don’t know if my mother loved me—most of the time, I think she didn’t. At boarding school, I was a valued member of the community, but that life is far behind me now. Remember that special someone I mentioned before? I’m thinking he could make me happy, love me and keep me safe, but I’ve also learned that dreams can break my heart, so I try not to want too much.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
If I make it to twenty-three, I hope I’m finally free of my stepfamily, in the arms of a man who loves me more than everything, who would do anything to keep me happy and safe.

Out of Sight Book Release!
Out of Sight
Matthew S. Cox
Publication date: August 13th 2018
Genres: Dystopian, Young Adult
Most Citizens hold Outcasts in dim regard, but Sima never expected they’d throw her off the planet.
In 2411, overpopulation has spread a plaque of filthy, congested city to the corners of the Earth. Government has raised corruption to an art form, and no one hears the cries of those left to die in the dark passageways of civilization. Following the End of Nations, people cling to the only division left: social status.
Since running away from home four years ago, she’s managed to stay a step ahead of death―or worse. At sixteen, she’s getting too old to survive from begging, despite her best effort to pretend she’s younger. Worse, the sidewalks teem with little kids edging in on her turf, monopolizing Citizens’ charity with their wide, pleading eyes and genuine innocence.
A chance meeting with suspiciously nice cops leaves her more confused than ever. Between deadly gangs, unforgiving security forces, and a terrifying madam eager to exploit a girl her age, merely getting older is the biggest threat to her life. With no good choice to make, she risks the least of three evils.
Sima thought her life on Earth had been dangerous…
She hasn’t seen anything yet.
I got a chance to interview Sima! She’s a real “character”! No pun intended! LOL
1- tell me a little about yourself (what do you look like, where do you live, what book are you in)
Yeah, sure, I can talk a bit. Got any spare glint? I haven’t eaten anything in a couple days. Umm. Okay, you got me. I’m not really twelve. I’m sixteen. But that’s still a kid, right? Come on… It’s not easy out here for someone like me. Dark hair, olive skin. The little kids get all the glint, especially the ones with pale faces and light hair. Where do I live? Hah. Anywhere. Been sleeping in this place we call the Crash for a couple days. The road collapsed, opening a path into the old city layer under this one. That’s right where the EGSF wants us though… Out of Sight.
2- How do you evolve during the course of the story/series?
Evolve? What, like Darwin or something? I dunno. I haven’t been in school for four years. See that back of little kids across the street? Yeah. Can’t stand them. Oh, it’s not really their fault. They didn’t ask to be Outcasts, but do you have any idea how hard it is to beg glint at my age when the small ones are so much cuter? That’s why I do that thing with my shirt and try to act like I’m only twelve. I mean, I don’t really hate little kids. It’s just reality, yanno? Competition. If it wasn’t for living on the street, I wouldn’t mind ’em. Sure, I feel sorry for ’em. Who wouldn’t, but that’s the problem. They take all the money. If I ever wound up off the street somewhere and didn’t have to beg, kids wouldn’t be a problem. What? Oh, yeah I guess. I couldn’t like sit around and let a kid get hurt if something dangerous happened to them. But, look at me? I never had a real mother. Mine ignored me from day one when I failed to trap my bio-dad. What do I know about taking care of children? It’s not fair they get to have a mom but I didn’t. Umm. Yeah well, that blonde kid is kinda cute. And so sick. She needs someone to take care of her or she’s going to die. She’s so sick she might die anyway. Dammit. I don’t want to think about that.
3 – Do you have an enemy or nemesis? If so, who are they and how did they become an enemy?
Enemies? Yeah sure. Lots of them. EGSF officers for one. Outcasts like me are nothing to them. And there’s gangs, too. The Blanks are effing creepy as hell. Stay away from them. The E6ers are no joke either. And Scathers. If I ran into any of them I’d probably wind up dead. And well, there’s this giant alien cat trying to kill me.
4- What is the biggest challenge you face in the story?
Trying to survive. First the slums of Earth, then this weird alien world after our ship explodes in orbit. My escape pod somehow survived the explosion and I’m alone… the only human on a planet. And the damn EGSF is so cheap they didn’t even stock the pod with anything, so all I have is my underwear and an Omnicomputer bracelet. That damn thing is so literal. I used to wonder if I would live long enough to make it to twenty… now I’m not so sure I’ll see seventeen.
5 – What is the one event that you feel has helped to shape your personality?
Finding those stupid little kids in another escape pod. I mean how cruel was that? The EGSF rounds us up off the street like garbage and shoots us into space. And now they’re gonna die on this stupid planet with me. On Earth, I couldn’t stand being around little kids ’cause they soaked up all the glint. But here? I can’t stand being around them because it’s too sad. But I can’t leave them, yanno. We got no one else and I’m the oldest… so I gotta take care of them. I have no idea what a mother is supposed to be like since mine ignored me, but Lissa’s so scrawny and sick. I can’t just leave her.
6-Are you involved in a romance? If so with who and what is it about them that you find appealing?
On Earth, I had a couple of boyfriends. Nothing ever lasted long. One overdosed on Pixie. One disappeared. Most weren’t really ‘boyfriends’ as much as ‘if I hang out with this guy he’ll share his food.’ Don’t look at me like that. I haven’t done it yet. I’m only sixteen. What kind of girl do you think I am?
7 – What is the one thing you want the most in the whole world?
…… I guess my father not to be a piece of trash who never even looked at me. Maybe parents who gave a crap. Not having to run away at twelve. I used to like school. Teachers told me I was smart. Advanced even… but I ran away. Mom didn’t care what her new boyfriend wanted to do to me. I was only twelve then. She didn’t believe me. You know the woman got mad at me for telling her what he tried to do? So, yeah. It’s stupid making wishes for crap that’ll never happen.
8 – If you could say one thing to your readers, what would it be?
I dunno. Maybe something like how can you just sit there watching me and not help? At least do something for the little ones.
9- If you could say one thing to your author, what would it be?
(swearing rant about crappy parents)
10-What 2 or 3 questions do you wish I’d asked, and what are your answers to them?
How much glint do you need – enough to eat.
Hey, do you need a safe home? – (cursing) yeah!
I’m glad you didn’t ask about Earth. It’s not healthy to complain too loud. You know what they say. Care too much, the City will kill you. Care too little, apathy will.

Review of Jaclyn and the Beanstalk
My Review of Jaclyn and the Beanstalk
While this is a retelling of the Jack and the Beanstalk faerie tale, it’s much more than a boy who accidentally creates a giant beanstalk that takes him to a land of mystery and giants. Instead, it stars a 16 year old girl who has a loving mother and father. She has spent years training with her father on how to fight and use a sword.
When her father, along with a lot of other men from the closest village goes missing, ,Jaclyn takes off to find them. Her boy-hood friend, and first crush, Jack, follows her. I don’t want to give away too much, but there is a beanstalk that they climb up. There are bad guys in their way and a very happy ending.
The book was written for younger teens, but I think anyone who’s interested in this old fable will love the new look Mary Ting gave it.
My rating – PG
This is a fun and adventurous read that everyone can enjoy, just the way I like them!
I give this book 4 stars out of 5, only because it had a slow start, but once it got going it didn’t stop! Go ahead, give it a try.

The Geek and the Goddess Book Blitz!
The Geek and the Goddess
Allie Everhart
Publication date: August 7th 2018
Genres: Romance, Young Adult
People always say they wish they could predict the future. But not me. I already know my future. I’m going to lose my sight. I don’t know exactly when, but it’s going to happen. And it’s the reason I’ll never fall in love.
At least that’s what I thought. Until one day a guy walks into my chem class and changes all that.
I thought for sure he’d avoid me after he saw how people at school treat me. The teasing. The nicknames. Just being seen with me is enough to ruin his reputation, yet this guy still wanted to date me. And he wouldn’t take no for an answer.
That’s how it began. How it ended is not at all what I expected. Ours is an unlikely love story.

EXCERPT:
A guy appears at the door. He looks back at it, like he’s double-checking the room number, then says something to a girl up front. She nods and he closes the door.
Everyone looks up and stares at him. He’s tall and thin, wearing jeans and a button-up white shirt with a blue blazer over it. And he has on a tie that’s blue and green plaid.
Who dresses like that for class? A blazer and a tie? Maybe he transferred here from a prep school.
“Greetings, earthlings,” he says in a deep voice. He smiles and a few people chuckle.
“Wesley,” Mr. Henderson says. “Welcome.”
“Thank you,” he says in a cheery tone, not seeming to care that people are staring at him.
“We have a seat for you back here,” Henderson says.
He sees me and smiles. “Guess it’s my lucky day.”
Lucky day? What is he talking about?
Everyone watches as he makes his way to the back. As he approaches my table, I notice he’s carrying a briefcase. Like one of those hard covered briefcases men used to carry to work. He sets it down and opens the metal hinges. The briefcase pops open and inside is his laptop, a notebook, and some pens. He takes out the laptop, then closes the briefcase.
“Everyone, this is Wesley Deckle,” Mr. Henderson says. “He moved here last summer from Sacramento, California. Please welcome him to Wisconsin by introducing yourselves after class.” He walks over to his desk. “I want phones put away and books out. We’ll begin shortly.”
Wesley holds out his hand to me and smiles. “Hi. I’m Wesley. And you are?”
“Luna,” I say as I get a better look at his face. He’s kind of cute. His eyes are a swirly mix of blue that reminds me of those pictures of Earth taken from space. He has dark brown hair that’s a little long with curly waves that make it look messy but in a good way. And he has good skin. Not a single zit, which is rare for people our age.
“Luna,” he repeats, and I wait for him to follow that with whatever rude comment he’s going to make about my unusual name. But instead he says, “That’s the coolest name ever.”
I stare at him, skeptical of his words. It’s quite possible he’s being sarcastic. He looks like someone who uses sarcasm.
“Are you being serious?” I ask.
“Luna. Roman goddess of the moon,” he says, smiling. “You were named after a goddess. That’s cool, don’t you think?”
“Not really.” I look away from him. “I’ve never liked my name.”
“Why don’t you like it?”
“Let’s start by reviewing the syllabus,” Mr. Henderson says.
I open my laptop, not answering Wesley’s question. Because answering it means telling him the history of my name and how it’s been used to tease me, ridicule me, make me an outcast. There’s no need to explain all that. He’ll find that out soon enough.

When Alyson, top-flight FBI agent and the world’s last dragon shifter, and her vampire partner Vlad saved the world last month, they thought that would be the last apocalypse they would ever have to deal with.
But not only did Alyson find out that she isn’t the last dragon in the world, but a fresh ritualistic murder sends the pair on a death-defying investigation overseas to Russia, and right into Vlad’s dark past.
With enemies on all sides and no support from the FBI, Alyson and Vlad need to crack the case before not only are they taken out, but the entire race of vampires is wiped from the planet!
Check out this snippet from A Ritual of Death, book 2 in The FBI Dragon Chronicles:
“Alyson, behind you!” Vlad screamed right as I sensed something coming up behind me. I whirled around with my FBI issued Glock and prepared to shoot at whatever it was.
One look at the perp coming at me and I knew my gun wouldn’t be enough. His extended fangs were a dead giveaway as to what he was, a vampire, as well as his intentions, to tear my throat out with those fangs. I shot anyway just to slow the vampire down. When my bullet hit his chest, he stumbled for a second, but he bounced back way too fast. At best, I was going to have a couple of extra seconds, so I dropped my gun and reached for my belt with my preternatural speed.
I pulled out my ten-inch Becker BK-29 Moses Ka-Bar knife, something that certainly wasn’t FBI issue. This beauty of a blade was a special gift from a witch friend, Stella. She just happened to be the daughter of the leader of the local coven and a very close, personal friend of Vlad’s. When we saved her, and her mother, a few weeks ago from the coming apocalypse, she gifted me with the magical blade.
There wasn’t time to get into a proper knife-fighting stance. As I pulled the blade from my belt, I opted instead for a straight slash across the chest of my attacker. He must have thought it was just a normal blade and wouldn’t do much damage because he didn’t bother to defend himself. His eyes widened in shock after a silver arc of magic blew through him.
Thank you, Stella! I was going to have to send her a thank you note after this was over.
The attacking vampire stumbled back, looking back and forth between me and his chest. He snarled and pulled a gun from the back of his pants.
I almost shifted to my dragon form, but there were still two strangers in the room, and if they saw me shift to a dragon, my secret identity would be out. Just a few weeks ago, someone who knew my secret tried to capture me and use my extremely rare dragon blood to bring about the end of the world. I was pretty sure anyone who found out and not already on my side was now dead, but I couldn’t be sure. I didn’t need anyone else knowing who I really was.
My mind raced a million miles a second while trying to figure a way out of this before he shot me. I considered trying to outrun his aim and then I realized something.
The vampire wasn’t aiming his weapon at me, but at something behind me.

EXCERPT:
The rain stopped, and the wind outside had settled, leaving an uncomfortable silence in its wake. I didn’t have a problem with the quiet. I liked it, in fact. But this was something a little different. This was uncomfortable. The kind of stillness that came from forced proximity to someone or something that made your skin itch and your stomach roil. The kind of hush that usually set in right before a devastating storm or a natural disaster.
He did this sometimes. Just sat across from me and stared. He usually wouldn’t even say anything. I didn’t think he expected me to say anything, either. He just looked. Sometimes it lasted a few minutes, just long enough to send that chill skittering up and down my spine. Other times it would go on for hours. He’d blink and breathe and fidget, but his eyes…those remained locked on me, his unhealthy mix of sadness and lust and greed and anger crushing me to the point of breathlessness.
We were at it again, and I was just about out of patience. It was one thing to have been ripped away from my home, from my life, by that madwoman, Cora Anderson. It was another to have her poke and prod and use me as a science experiment. She’d altered my mind. Made me forget most of my life before the day I woke up a prisoner on the floor of her cold, dank cell. Those things were all bad, but having been “rescued” by this bastard and forced to stay by his side at all times? That was an entirely new level of torture.
“You’re thinking about him again, aren’t you?” His tone was acidic and his jaw tight. He had a temper, this guy. I’d seen it multiple times. He’d never done anything more than scream at me, but it was only a matter of time with people like this. I wasn’t sure how I knew that, but I felt it in my bones. Maybe I’d known someone like him at home. Maybe it was just intuition.
“Yes,” was all I replied. I found that simple, one-word responses went over the best. Or, more accurately, the worst. When I said too little, he grew agitated. He wanted me to talk to him, yet the things that came out of my mouth weren’t ever what he wanted to hear. I didn’t act like he’d hoped I would, didn’t say the things he longed to hear. Some days he was determined to change me. Others, he was rabid, blaming me for not behaving like myself and demanding that I wake up.
Forget that I had no idea who I was.
“While it’s not okay, I understand.” He offered me a smile—a small, tentative twitch of his lips and gentle shrug of his shoulders. He was making an effort to be kinder today, going out of his way to speak softer and move slower.
That made me even angrier.
“You understand? Then my life is complete. All I’ve ever wanted was the understanding of a serial killer.” Even if I hadn’t been thinking about…someone else, I would have lied. The fact that I wasn’t focused on him, and him alone, drove Dylan—my savior, my captor—crazy. But the truth was, I was thinking of him. That other him. How could I not? Even if I didn’t find myself missing him every moment of every day in an almost physical way, I wouldn’t be able to put him out of my mind because he was technically sitting here across from me.
