The Opposite of a Block?

The time is drawing near where all my commitments for the year will be done. I have one more novella to write then I can write whatever I want!!

This sounded exciting a few months ago when I could say, "By then I'll know what I want to write."

Not.

I'm not blocked. Not exactly. I have too many stories to tell and I can't pick which one. It's like someone asking me to pick my favorite son. I can't. But the results are the same as a block because I can see July is just around the corner and I should be in plot mode and I'm not.

I wish I had a crystal ball that would tell me which story would be more appreciated. Some people will say, "Write the book of my heart." They're ALL the books of my heart. I want to write them ALL.

Now.

Yesterday.

I have a dark UF that frightens me, I have dragons, I have paranormal murder mysteries, I have geeks...

You think Rafflecopter has an app I can uses to make decisions?

I think this where an agent would come in handy. Someone who understands the business and will say, "Write this."  I even considered picking a name out of a hat. Before someone mentions Angler or Vanguards, they ARE on my roster for this fall. One of them. I'm procrastinating on that decision as well. I'm sure there'll be a whining blog in the fall covering this.

In a few weeks, I'll be forced to buckle down and decide.  *flails*

May 29th

I've been working a lot at the evil day job this week. It's been crazy busy at the hospital.

Today, though, I'm working on revising Ravenous.

Here's a little snippet.

“Look at her body. She’s emaciated. Someone left her here to starve.” He watched me as I struggled against my chains. I wasn’t in control anymore. I could only sit back and scream in silence. The demon part of me had taken over. That’s what happened when I got too hungry, like a survival instinct. If I didn’t orgasm every three days, I’d find myself humping some schmuck behind a dumpster. This was day seven.

Edits for Scent of Valor are done.  *flops* I love writing in Eorthe. I have so many books planned in this series. It's one of those places where the stories are endless.  Now off to edit Ravenous. *rugs hands together*

Suffer the Hunger

If you hadn't heard, I'm focusing on my Lake City Stories this summer.   What is Lake City and who is this chick on the cover?  Remember, a long time a go, I had this book called Starved for Love. It was a Carina Press release. I loved working with them, and they were interested in the rest of this series, but I wanted to dip my toes in self publishing with a new series and do it right this time.  Angler is self published, but it was a mess. I didn't have a plan and felt I let readers down because it took me SOOOO long to get a new book out. Not this time.  Pia is the star of the first books in this series. I hope you'll lover her quirky ways as much as I do. Ravenous is a pre-quell to Starved for Love and explains how she ended up the way she is and how she met Zur-Sin.

Suffer the hunger. Pia Blyton wants it all. A steady boyfriend, love and her independence. But to ignore her succubus nature is to welcome chaos. Every three days she must orgasm to feed. Bad sex isn’t an option. Stave off the hunger for too long and her demon side peeks out, and its tastes are much less discerning than hers. One bad day, one wrong decision, and her demon takes control of her libido and kisses all her best intentions goodbye.Brokenhearted and ashamed, Pia is dragged home to Lake City by Zur-Sin, a vampire her father paid to find her. When Sin tries delivering Pia to her concerned family, her façade cracks. She can’t face them after what she’s done. Ever the businessman, Sin offers Pia a compromise. She can stay with him, and he will teach her to control her hunger. All he wants is her body, and half of her father’s empire, in return. Releasing July 2014

Wed. May 21st

I'm the worst blogger ever.

I love my site. I love getting feedback. But my brain is a scattered mess. I need a herder to guide me to what needs doing. Normally, I have an online goals thread which I update religiously to keep me focused but this year I lost interest in it. I think I'll try using this blog that way both of us will know what I'm up to and what is coming up.

First off, I have a ton of new covers I haven't shared because I'm silly like that. I'll start with Scent of Valor, releasing Nov 2014. Peder's book. *pets*

Courage blooms in the meekest of hearts.

Chronicles of Eorthe, Book 2
After spending twenty years trapped in her civil body, Kele can finally shift into feral form. By tooth and claw, she’s determined to climb the Payami pack hierarchy.
Her parents plan to mate her with a hunter from a rival pack, but her heart’s already been stolen by the most unsuitable wolf possible—Peder, an omega male. She’d gladly give him her body except he’s disappeared from her life. Maybe into the thieving arms of another female.
Peder has spent every moment of their forced separation training to be a hunter. When he hears of her arranged marriage, he fears he’s waited too long to trespass back onto Payami lands to fight for her hand—but he damned well isn’t giving up.
On his journey to confront Kele, Peder is attacked and wakes in a cage, helpless as a band of vampires attack Kele’s mating party. Separated by social standing, thrown together by tragedy, they must work together to survive. And find out if their attraction is merely puppy love, or a bond that’s stronger than time.
Warning: This book contains an omega male who’s done submitting and a hunter female who isn’t used to needing anyone to come to her rescue. Violence ensues, not for the faint of heart.
GOALS for this week: 1. Finish overview edits of Scent of Valor and start read threw.2. Start proof reading novel for another writer.

Koishi Finaled

Got some great news.

Koishi finaled in Colorado Romance Writers Award of Excellence!

I also got a peek at the cover for Scent of Valor. I'll share when I can.

Today was the kind of day when I arrived at work this morning I was sure if I had actually dressed. I somehow managed in my daze and I matched! This is what happens when I'm up late writing.

Fool for Love

Welcome to the Fool for Love blog hop! I'm a sucker for light paranormal romances and playful couples. I love fast paced, witty conversations especially if there's a sharp edge to their tongues.    Life is too short for it to be taken too seriously.
Nothing makes me happier when romance holds some joie de vie.

A couple who can laugh together, can love fiercely.

Life on the run can be very lonely.

Hunted to near extinction by an alien race called the Ko, my people have run from Earth and drifted so far among the stars we can’t remember the way back. We live everywhere, but call nowhere home. The Ko want us erased from existence and memory. They don’t even want our DNA in the space dust. Humans disguise themselves as other alien species and hide in plain sight. It’s the only way we can survive.
I believe in the myth of Earth. I’ve even discovered a bona fide book written in the dead language of my people. My man, Brody, dreams of a secret human colony. He’s searched for years, hunting any rumor we’ve run across, and finally he’s made contact. Usually, he’s the one grounding me to station and keeping my head out of the atmosphere. Time for me to return the favor…that is, if I can ditch the Ko who’ve discovered me, thanks to my incessant artifact-hunting. If we don’t make our rendezvous, and the Ko don’t kill me, Brody just might…

Sneak Peek Sunday

A child’s picture book.
With human words written inside.
I took a shaky breath. Not many people knew how to read the dead language, but my ma had made sure the knowledge stayed alive within me. There weren’t too many of us still left around. I’d heard a Drayian museum displayed a few freeze-dried corpses. They took a huge risk if they did. The Ko wanted us erased from existence and memory. Some said they didn’t even want human DNA in the space dust.
In fear of retaliation, no other race would help my kind even though we’d been hunted to near extinction. It was said that a species called the Torrath had aided my ancestors once. Nothing remained of them. The Ko had made an example of that world.
Living on the run since the day we were born had toughened my race over the centuries. We lived everywhere, yet nowhere was home. At a moment’s notice, all could be lost. We loved hard and fought dirty. We’d become survivalists.
Now we hid, disguised as other races, and lived among them, or faced being delivered to the flesh traders for Ko delivery. Some humans used body paints. Others, like me and Brody, used prostheses. We traveled as Jurranians with long, prehensile ears and vertically slit pupil contact lenses. They contained neurotransmitters so the ears moved naturally and the pupils dilated or constricted. With some creative hairstyling and dyes, we could pass as them. If anyone found out what we were…

Releasing April 7th

Baby It's Cold Outside Bloghop

Boy, is it ever cold outside. School was canceled due to wind chill factor. Now THAT's cold. LOL

BEST BOOKS I READ IN 2013 Like most writers, I am a reader first. And like most readers, I love to share the books that touched me. Don't forget to enter in my contest below. If you want to get a notice when I have a new release then sign-up for my newsletter in the sidebar. Stay warm!   In no specific order    Amber Bierce had nothing left except her sister and two tickets on Earth’s first colony-ship. She entered her Sleeper with a five-year contract and the promise of a better life, but awakened in wreckage on an unknown world. For the survivors, there is no rescue, no way home and no hope until they are found by Meoraq—a holy warrior more deadly than any hungering beast on this hostile new world…but whose eyes show a different sort of hunger when he looks at her.

It was his last year of freedom:

Uyane Meoraq is a Sword of Sheul, God’s own instrument of judgment, victor of hundreds of trials, with a conqueror’s rights over all men. Or at least he was until his father’s death. Now, without divine intervention, he will be forced to assume stewardship over House Uyane and lose the life he has always known. At the legendary temple of Xi’Matezh, Meoraq hopes to find the deliverance he seeks, but the humans he encounters on his pilgrimage may prove too great a test even for him…especially the one called Amber, behind whose monstrous appearance burns a woman’s heart unlike any he has ever known.

From R. Lee Smith, author of Heat and Cottonwood, comes an epic new story of desire, darkness and the dawn that comes after The Last Hour of Gann.

WARNING: This book contains graphic violence, strong sexual content and explicit language. It is intended for mature readers only.    (IT'S FREE)
Desperate to find her sister, Erin goes to the only man in Houston who can help her--Ivan Markovic. The intimidating, tattooed Russian operates one of the most elite mixed-martial arts training centers in the world but it's his shadowy past and reputed connections with Houston's underworld that interest her most.

To find her sister, she'll need the help of her big, scary Russian protector--but asking for help from a man like Ivan carries a steep price, one that might just include her heart.       Never underestimate the power of a woman

To further complicate matters, Reyes is her main suspect in an arson case.  Charley has vowed to stay away from him until she can find out the truth…but then dead women start appearing in her apartment, one after another, each lost, confused, and terrified beyond reason.  When it becomes apparent that her own sister, Gemma, is the serial killer’s next target Charley has no choice but to ask for Reyes’ help.  Arsonist or not, he’s the one man alive who could protect Gemma no matter who or what came at her. But he wants something in return. Charley. All of her, body and soul. And to keep her sister safe, it is a price she is willing to pay. Charley Davidson is at it again in Fifth Grave Past the Light, the sexy, suspenseful, and laugh-out-loud funny fifth installment of the New York Times bestselling series by Darynda Jones.
