Rent the Runway

WHAT JENN IS WORKING ON RIGHT NOW: While I wait for edits on my latest Bliss romance, I'm plotting the second in the series.

WHAT JENN IS READING RIGHT NOW: I picked up Kristan Higgins' On Second Thought.

Hi, all!
Some good news to share: my novel Wrong Brother, Right Match WON the 2017 ©Desert Rose RWA® Golden Quill Contest- Sweet Traditional Category!

Me--when I got the email:

Anyway, I am attending a GALA next month--which is black tie invited.
After looking through my closet and coming up frustrated, I decided to try a website I've been hearing a lot about: RENT THE RUNWAY.

Basically, you can rent a dress for any event/wedding/gala etc.. and most are big named designers for less than the cost of actually buying a dress (and only wearing once). They will be delivered the day before the event and then I have 4 days to return. No dry cleaning needed. They will do it for me.

I went big and rented 2 gowns. I figured one of them HAS to look good. Keep in mind I will have a tan by then too.

Here are my selections:
Choice #1

Choice #2
I'm excited. Stay tuned and find out which dress I wear next month!I will post pictures for sure!
Until then, Happy Reading!
Jennifer

A New Romance Hero Profession?

What's Jen Working On? Finishing up the first book of a new Bliss series proposal. Only 4 chapters to go!
What's Jen Listening To? Loving "No Promises" by Cheat Codes (feat. Demi Lovato)

Happy Post-Mother's Day to all my fellow Moms out there!Hope you all enjoyed your day.

Anyway, I've been getting a lot of local press in my hometown lately (THANK YOU) and it seems as if "the cat's now out the bag" as far as me being a romance author.

**Cue many men in town coming up to me and asking me to put them in a book**

Um, that actually is happening. Most of it is brought up jokingly (thank goodness!) but I have been told that I should definitely have this profession for my next hero:
Tooth maker.
Yes. It's okay to laugh. I did. However, if I can write about two pharmacists falling in love, it's really not out of the realm of possibility to write about a tooth maker. LOL
We'll see...

What kind of hero profession do you like to see in romance books?

Man Crush Monday

WHAT'S JEN WORKING ON? I'm writing the first book of a new Bliss series. I want to call it either, It Happened One Kiss or It Happened One Wedding. Due to my editor in May.

###Hi, all!

So here I am in the middle of writing my next book (new series) and I had to go and change the name of my hero. He's turning out to be a little brooding, so I needed a name to reflect that state. He was originally Carson and it's just not fitting anymore.

Thus, may I introduce Damon to you.

I don't typically write too many blonde heroes.

Weird, huh?
I guess I have a type. Dark hair for sure. (My husband is living proof)

However, I figured it was time to change things up a bit.

The facial scruff is a nice touch too. I'm adding that to my character as well.

I think he'll work out ok.

What do you think? :-)
Do you favor certain hair colors when writing your characters/heroes?
Do you prefer your characters to look a certain way when you read?

Christmas in France!

WHAT'S JEN WORKING ON? Right now, I'm writing the first book of a new Bliss series. More info soon!
                                                     ~~~~
Hey, all! Another new year is upon us! Hope your holidays were fun.
In case you didn't know, I spent Christmas thru New Years in FRANCE.YES.Actually, it was my first time to Europe in general. We stayed with a French family, ate what they ate, (see snails below) and they showed us all the touristy things I was dying to see. LOL
Escargots that were delicious!Our friends took us to a performance at the Opera House one night as a Christmas gift. It was beautiful. Palais Garnier (The French Opera House) Inside the Opera HouseWe also went to the Notre-Dame Cathedral.
And of course, you can't go to Paris without seeing this:
You can't get any closer. LOLSo cool! We also went to the Sacré-Cœur and traveled to see Château de Chambord!
Château de Chambord
We all had a wonderful time. My French is a bit rusty, but one of my goals for 2017 is to work on improving it. I'd love to return to France when the weather is a bit warmer. I hear it's a different experience.
TWO THINGS I did not get a chance to do:
1) see the Mona Lisa. BUMMER!!!! But when you're with two teenagers, you can only visit so many museums.
2) go to the Palace of Versailles. Blame the teenagers again!
Oh well. Next time. :)
Have you ever been to France? What was your favorite part?
