Wordapalooza #6

Words: 5700 – yay! (made up for the other day when I didn’t get anything done due to blurginess)

Reason for stopping: words have run dry.

Today’s words were divided between two stories. I may open a third tomorrow, if the words are still cooperating. But, I’ve got some blog posts and interviews to work on , so we’ll see!

Wordapalooza #5

Words: 3050

Reason for stopping: my tummy is ouchy. I haven’t been feeling well all day, in fact. Ugh.

More words tomorrow. And hopefully, no more ouchy-tummy.

Book Birthday: MERLYN’S RAVEN!

Ooo, book birthdays! Always an exciting time for an author, and for me, this one is especially exciting as I saw an early draft of this book. Plus, Rose is a good friend, and so that makes this book birthday doubly-special!

Merlyn's Raven

The synopsis: Falling in love is the ultimate magic. For Gwendydd, a young woman in 5th century Wales, it seems an unobtainable fantasy. She dreads the day her chieftain grandfather will marry her off to increase his allies among the warring tribes of Britain. When she meets the mysterious and handsome druid apprentice Myrddin, Gwendydd realizes just how difficult falling in love can be. The ire of her disapproving grandfather is not her only obstacle. Myrddin’s clairvoyant visions of a king who will unify the battling tribes and bring peace to the land become a dangerous obsession that threatens to obliterate their union. Can Gwendydd support her beloved, the man destined to become the world’s most powerful enchanter, King Arthur’s legendary Merlyn? Or will her devotion destroy her and everything she holds dear?

And, do check out the trailer!

Happy book-birthday, Rose, and welcome to the world, MERLYN’S RAVEN!

And the winner is…..

Neri, @ In the Name of Books! Congratulations! I'll be emailing you in a few minutes to arrange getting the book to you.

To everyone else who entered, thank you so much! I really enjoyed reading all your comments and next time, I might not moderate them because I really wanted to reply to a bunch of you (I'll see if I can't figure out those fancy giveaway forms that I've seen on other blogs). And, remember, I'll be having another giveaway of some sort on May 5 – announcements for it will be posted on Twitter and Facebook, as well as here on the blog.

Stay tuned! :)

Giveaway CLOSED!

Thanks to everyone who entered to win an ARC of SHADOWS CAST BY STARS. Holy moly, there sure are a lot of you!

I'll be drawing for the winner of the ARC a little later today (I'm pre-posting, so I'll actually be asleep when this post goes live), probably around 10 am or so PST. Thank you all for entering! I'll be having another giveaway on May 5 to celebrate the one-month-until-release date (haven't decided what, yet, but I'm pretty sure swag will be involved), and will also have a lovely surprise to reveal on that day.

So, I'll be back in a while with the name of the winner – so exciting! Yay!

Win an advance reader copy of SHADOWS CAST BY STARS!

So, today (April 5) is exactly two months from the release of SHADOWS CAST BY STARS, and to celebrate, I've decided to give away an advanced reader/review copy (personalized & signed, no less!). To enter, all you need to do is leave me a comment with your name and your email address – simple, right? (I'll screen the comments so no one has to worry that their email will get picked up by spambots. You'll receive a message saying your comment is waiting for approval – that's the only way I could figure out how to keep everyone's emails safe, but no worries! If you get that message, you know your entry was received.). Please enter only once, so that everyone has a fair chance. And, I'll happily send the ARC anywhere in the world!

The contest will be open until April 7, 11:59 PM PST. I'll draw names from a hat on April 8, and advise the winner ASAP.

And, I'll also be doing some sort of giveaway to mark one-month-until-SHADOWS on May 5, so if you don't win this giveaway, there will be others!

So, good luck to all who enter, and stay tuned for the winner!

A big day! The first review of SHADOWS CAST BY STARS is in!

I've been nervously awaiting my first review, and I'm grateful that it's such a thoughtful and kind one. Plus, I'm really excited about the journey SHADOWS CAST BY STARS will take now that it's left my hands and moved on to the hands of others. Stories are morphing, changing, growing creatures, and I can't wait to see what new lives SHADOWS will take on when it reaches other readers.

Read the review here!

Anyhow, what a nice way to start my day!

My Favourite Things (2): the Not-Friday edition

So, I've been away at a writing retreat the last couple of days, and had grand plans to get my Friday Favourites post up…

Alas, 'twas not to be. Exhaustion set in, and that was that.

But, since I am working hard on going-with-the-flow on a more regular basis, here I am today.

Anyone who knows me also know that I am slightly horse-crazed, and have been since, um, birth. My horse-sport of choice is dressage, and the aim of dressage is to ride in complete harmony with one's horse, and one of the highest expressions of this aim, to many, is the kür, where rider and horse essentially dance together.

Youtube is filled with kürs aplenty, and this is one of the cutest:

Enjoy!
