HIS and HIS
I neglected to mention that I wrote stories for two new bestselling anthologies from Evernight Publishing: HIS and HIS: Manlove Edition.
HIS includes "Firemen on the Move"HIS
Strength. Power. Experience. No obstacle is too great when an alpha male decides what he wants, and these dominating men are so sexy and irresistible, no woman would dare think of anything but submission. Billionaires, Doms, and mobsters alike aggressively go after the women they want, and they will stop at nothing to fully possess them and make them beg for more.
My story in this one is "Firemen on the Move." I was inspired to write it en route to the supermarket, when I walked by a moving van from a company called... oh, now I don't even remember. "Fireman Movers" or something? I saw a woman was sitting outside the apartment building where it was parked, watching and waiting.
By the time I'd walked home from the supermarket, I had this story all planned out in my mind. A writer never stops writing.
I know what I'm talking about when it comes to older man/younger woman relationships. I was part of one for ten years of my life. (I was the younger woman, in case you're wondering.)
"This Stage of Life," my story in the Manlove edition, has a similar theme: older man/younger man, this time, and in this instance the older man is a teacher and the younger one a former student:
HIS: ManloveHIS: Manlove EditionStrength. Power. Experience. There’s nothing like a man who knows how to get what he wants, both in and out of the bedroom. And these dominant alphas want nothing more than to please and possess the men they love. No kink is too risqué as these men ensure their lovers never want to be anywhere but under their command.Come and find out how good it feels to be HIS.

By the time I'd walked home from the supermarket, I had this story all planned out in my mind. A writer never stops writing.
When Bindi hired "Firemen On The Move" to transport her stuff from her parents' house in the suburbs to her first downtown apartment, she dreamed of meaty firemen jumping out of a truck, muscles surging, ready to lift anything. And that's exactly what she got. Except the company's bona fide firefighter-movers were in fact retired firefighters. She didn't expect them to be so... old!
Despite his age, there's something undeniably appealing about former firefighter Steve. It's not just his incredible body. He's easy to talk to, and when she forgets her purse in the moving van and Steve runs to her door late in the evening to return it... well, Bindi has a pretty good feeling they're going to do more than just talk...
When Andrew pays his old high school a visit, a latent crush storms to the surface. Andrew attended the "Triple Threat" musical theatre program at a respected arts school. When he was a student, he had a girlfriend and the dance teacher, Mr. Czarneki, had a wife. Thirteen years after graduation, Mr. Czarneki is widowed and Andrew identifies as gay. There's a definite spark, and when Andrew follows the dance teacher home like a puppy, Mr. Czarneki shows the former student how to play like one.

Whet Your Appetite
While you're deliberating over who wrote this book, I want to share the first chapter of next week's super-taboo new release: Adam and Sheree's Family Business. If you're wondering, "Is that the sequel to Adam and Sheree's Family Vacation?" the answer is YES!
Remember where we left off with Adam and Sheree in the first book? They were sitting on the beach together, Sheree begging her brother to let her live with him. She's got nowhere else to go. Pleaaase?
Well, if you read Adam and Sheree's Family Vacation, you know where this is going. It's going crazy. Holy hell, if you thought the first book was nuts, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Who Wrote This Book?
About a month after my first taboo book (Adam and Sheree's Family Vacation) was published, my girlfriend said, "I think you should have written that one under a pen name."Thanks for the advice, doll. You couldn't have come up with that idea BEFORE the book was published?
But, alas, hindsight's got those powerful specs, and we just sit around waiting to realize our mistakes. That's how we learn.
If you follow me on twitter, you'll have heard me mentioning that Adam and Sheree's dirty, disgusting sequel is dropping next week. Yay! But I'm hardly going to create a pseudonym for a series book. That would be pretty stupid. However, if you do follow me on twitter (and if you don't, you should--@gisellerenarde), you've also heard me mentioning that I wrote an incredibly filthy novella to be released in October. It's an adaptation of the Salome story set in the 1970s. Barely-legal, step-Daddy/daughter, step-brother/sister. You pervs know what I'm talking about, because you jumped all over me saying you want to buy a copy.
Pervs, you're putting my cats through college. I love you all.
Anyway, here's my question: considering that this is a taboo book and the tone and content represents a bit of a departure from a great deal of my other work (aside from Nanny State and the Adam & Sheree stories), should I publish it under a pen name?
Obviously if I do, I'm going to promote it transparently. I'm hardly going to say, "Huh? Salome? Never met the girl. Don't know what you're talking about." I'll acknowledge that I wrote it.
So if I, Giselle, plan to promote it and accept it as one of my own, what's the point in publishing under a pen name? Well, Amazon's been hassling me ever since Adam and Sheree happened. They've banned two of my works and tried to suppress a third, so I'm thinking I'm on some kind of list. That probably sounds paranoid, but who knows with Amazon?
Aside from that reason... I don't know... branding? Lots of authors publish different content under different names, and many are totally transparent about which ones fall under their general masthead.
I need some advice, people.
What should I do?
Oh, here's another consideration that I'd almost forgotten: the other week, I saw on a blog or site or twitter or somewhere (way to cite your sources, Giselle) some question about a new book. Readers seemed wary of it because the author was unknown and lacked web presence. Do you think my made-up taboo self could fall into that sort of trap, of readers not trusting an author who appears to lack credentials?
Readers, writer, arithmeticians... tell me what to do. Please?

Did You Know About This?
It's something like this, except different.Hey, so... did you know I had a website?
Correction: I HAVE a website. Actually, I HAD one too. The past tense site was a Webs site, which was shut down by the powers that be because I had the audacity to link to eeevil erotica. For shaaame!
But let's forget about those douchebuckets for a second and talk about my current site. It's a Wix site. Shut up--it is so cool. Yes it is. Oh, whatever. You don't know what you're talking about.
Anyway, I've had this site for a while, but it's on my mind today because I finally updated it. Finally. After going almost TWO YEARS without setting a grubby little finger on it.
Am I stupid or just a terrible business owner? Well, both, actually.
Everybody knows that you have to maintain a strong web presence if you want to keep your product/brand visible and accessible and whatever. I'm on Twitter every day and I'm here at the blog most days too, but letting my website go back to nature was just... stupid. Really stupid.
So I updated it today.
Here it is:
gisellerenarde.wix.com/erotica/
And I promise to try to be less stupid in the future.
We'll see about that.

The Women Who Love to Love Gay Romance
For years, I've been wondering if anyone else had this idea: a book about straight women falling for gay men. Happens all the time, and gay romance is hugely popular right now... so why wasn't some editor putting out a call for gay romance stories where a woman is somehow incorporated into the action?Well, finally it happened. I may not be straight (or a reader of gay romance, for that matter), but you can't fight fate. When Ryan Field announced that he was editing The Women Who Love to Love Gay Romance, I just knew I had to submit something.
My story in this collection is called Baby Got Bach, and I hope Owen Pallett never ever reads this blog post because I'd be really embarrassed if he knew my character Jamieson Lynch was loosely based on him. I hardly ever get crushes on guys anymore, but when I do they're pretty much always gay guys. This story was either going to be me perving over Rufus Wainwright, or me perving over Owen Pallett.
Rufus fans, you'll get yours one of these days. I've got half-baked plans.
Now... maybe you've never heard of Owen Pallett. Or maybe you've heard of him as (formerly) Final Fantasy. Or maybe you know him well and agree that he's a musical genius.
Anyway, I read Ryan's call for subs right around the time Owen Pallett's violin concerto was premiered with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. I was there, kids. Oh yes I was. And so was he, though not performing his own work. He DJ'ed the afterparty. I saw him. He was RIGHT THERE, close enough to touch, but do you think I had the balls to walk up to the guy and say, "Great concerto, dude"? Or something equally innocuous? Or idiotic? Or just... anything?
Nope. Couldn't do it. We were in the same room and I couldn't force myself to say hello.
So instead, I wrote this story.
It's pervilicious.
Here's the book blurb:
If you’ve ever wondered what it might be like to be a straight woman thrust into the intimate, emotional relationship of two gay men, this book might answer a few of your secret questions. It’s a collection of very different fictional stories that mesh together and create fantasies that in some cases could actually happen in real life.
When one gay man falls in love with his best girlfriend and her boyfriend, it becomes a heart-wrenching trilogy with three new adult stories by Bella Stanberry that cross social boundaries for which the characters will eventually pay a price. In Anna Black’s Fallen Angel, the straight female character finds out what it’s like to explore her most discreet fantasy. And in Baby Got Bach by Giselle Renarde the straight female character is invited to cross a line that leaves her terrified.
A Touch of Therapy by Morgan Honeyman delves into new age lessons about how to heal as the main character observes two gay men from a comfortable distance. Li Blaine’s Changing Curses is a more lyrical dream world which takes a mystical approach when the main character figures out a way to rid herself of a curse. The Facilitator by Tilly Hunter shows how a woman can find herself involved with her best gay friend and his boyfriend, with handcuffs and her grandmother’s wooden spoon. And in the sweet, tender tale of Lustful Wishes by R. Noir, the main character is a confused young man who has had both women and men in his life and he’s trying to figure out how to do the right thing.
All these stories combined with The Courage to Jump by Oleander Plume, where an m/m erotic romance author gets a chance to meet and explore her gay characters in real life, create a world of dreams that challenge one of the least mentioned topics today: The Women Who Love to Love Gay Romance.

FREE READ: The Public Life of Private Paulsen #transgender #historical #romance
This darling little love story originally appeared in my out-of-print anthology "My Mistress' Thighs" (which received an honourable mention in the 2011 Rainbow Awards--not that I'm bragging or anything) and was also available as an ebook from a now-defunct publisher. But I've revived it, just for you!
And why? Because every time I see a tweet about Chelsea Manning and transgender issues relating to the military, I think about this story. "The Public Life of Private Paulsen" is a post-war historical about a pair of soldiers who always shared a special connection.
Where can you get this free ebook?
I've uploaded it as a FREE READ at Manic Readers, because that was the easiest way I could think to get it from me to you. You don't need to sign up or establish an account (at least, I don't think you do...), just go here: http://manicreaders.com/index.cfm?disp=bookDetail&bookid=39491 click where it says "Free Read Available" and a download thingy will pop up, asking whether you want to save the file or open it. That's it. Really easy.
If you don't know me or my work, maybe I should add, as a disclaimer: this story contains explicit sex. If you do know me and my work, maybe you'll be surprised by the amount of sweetness in this little short. It's so tender. Oh, I just love it.
The headlines read: Private Paulsen went abroad and came back a broad.
World War Two changed the lives of all GIs who went into battle, but in the case of Private Paulsen, post-war transformations prove wildly more dramatic.
After undergoing one of the world’s first sex change operations in Europe, the Private returns home with a splash…a brand new identity. Pearl Paulsen is instantly the most intriguing and yet reviled celebrity in the country, but her fame provides little comfort when she misses the man she loves.
When Pearl meets up once again with George, the soldier she fought beside at Normandy, will the sparks they'd suppressed during the war return? Now that Pearl has the body she’s always wanted, can love bloom between the two?
Get it now. Tell your friends. Here's the link: http://manicreaders.com/index.cfm?disp=bookDetail&bookid=39491

Call for Submissions~Chicken Soup for the Soul: Living with Alzheimer's
Here's another book many of you might be interested in writing for. A family friend recently died after a kicking-and-screaming (literally) battle against his Alzheimer's, so the topic's been on my mind a great deal lately.
Here's the call:
Chicken Soup for the Soul: Living with Alzheimer's and Other Forms of Dementia101 Stories of Caregiving, Coping, and Compassion
We are pleased to announce that Chicken Soup for the Soul is working with the Alzheimer's Association to make a very special and important book. Caring for someone with Alzheimer's or another form of dementia on an on-going basis can be extremely difficult and stressful. If you are caring for someone or you are a patient in the early stages of the disease and are comfortable writing about your personal challenges, we invite you to share your stories. Your story as a caregiver, a loved one or a patient will provide practical advice, encouragement, insight, and support to our readers and will inspire and comfort others going through similar experiences and let them know that they are not alone.
Here are some suggested topics, but we know you can think of many more:
• Recognizing the first symptoms of the disease
• Meeting the challenges of everyday life
• Dealing with the physical changes
• Dealing with the rollercoaster ride of emotions
• Reactions from the outside world
• Reacting to personality changes
• Asking others for help
• Coping with the stress
• The lighter side — and there will be some funny moments!
Please remember, we no longer publish "as told to" stories. Please write in the first person about yourself or someone close to you. If you ghostwrite a story for someone else we will list that person's name as the author. If a story was previously published, we will probably not use it unless it ran in a small circulation venue. Let us know where the story was previously published in the "Comments" section of the submission form. If the story was published in a past Chicken Soup for the Soul book, please do not submit it.
If your story is chosen, you will be a published author and your 50-word bio will be printed in the book if you so choose. You will also receive a check for $200 and 10 free copies of your book, worth more than $100. You will retain the copyright for your story and you will retain the right to resell it.
Proceeds from this book will support the work of the Alzheimer's Association. They are the world's leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. The contributors whose stories are obtained through the Alzheimer's Association will be waiving their $200 fees and will have us give the $200 to the Association instead. If you are one of our past contributors, and you would like to do the same, please let us know and we will take care of it. You will still receive your ten free copies of the book and all your other contributor's perks. We will also be paying a large royalty to the Alzheimer's Association for each book sold.
If you are affiliated with a chapter of the Alzheimer's Association please let us know. Make note of that information in the "Comments" section of the submission form.

Well, Blow Me Down!
I never expected this to happen. Never in a million years.
Last week, when I clicked the Amazon link to my trans lesbian romance "Friday Night Lipstick," I got quite a shock. It was charting: #77 in Lesbian Romance.
Wow!
I'm the first to acknowledge that my transgender romance stories are niche products. I write them because they deserve to be written. I write them because they reflect my relationship with my girlfriend, who is trans. I write them because she told me long ago that she found erotica involving transgender characters very frustrating--fetishistic in a way she found toxic and insulting. I wanted to write fiction with trans characters and include erotic content she could relate to.
Essentially, I write trans fiction for trans people. The market isn't huge. I know that. And that's why I was so blown away to see this little book in the top 100 lesbian romances on Amazon.
The other reason I was so shocked to see Friday Night Lipstick charting is that my leading ladies are both over fifty. I didn't think a romance involving women in the 50+ age group would have much appeal, but I couldn't make them younger. My characters tell me their stories. You can't make this stuff up. And when they tell you how old they are, you can't say, "No you're not."
I'm blown away and elated that my little trans book has been so successful... and it's all thanks to you!
Much love to everyone who has purchased a copy of Friday Night Lipstick.

New Anthology! Baby Got Back: Anal Erotica
Every time I type the title of Rachel Kramer Bussel's new anal sex anthology, I end up writing "Bach" instead of "Back." That's because I recently wrote a music-nerd story for a Ryan Field anthology and called it "Baby Got Bach."But that's not what Rachel's anthology is called. It's called "Baby Got Back." Not Bach. Back. Just got my contributor's copies in the mail yesterday and they're lovely, just like all Cleis books.
For years, my girlfriend's been telling me I should write a romance story about a trans woman falling in love with a trans guy, so I finally did, and it's in this book. "Everybody Knows" follows a girl who made a mistake and a guy who's been hurt before. It's a reluctant love story, the kind where you really root for these crazy kids. Just stop being so proud! Stop being so scared! LOVE EACH OTHER!
And obviously my story's not the only one. There are 22 others in this book.
Here's the blurb:
Baby Got Back is a stimulating set of page-turning stories of anal fun. Rachel Kramer Bussel has edited some of the bestselling erotica books in the business and this is her first book devoted to all manner of backdoor pleasures. These daring and, dare we say, cheeky sex stories have a lot of variety. plenty of excitement and offer much erotic inspiration.
Whether you love anal sex or have never tried it, Baby Got Back, edited by award-winning author and editor Rachel Kramer Bussel, offers a peek at what happens when men and women check their inhibitions at the door. You'll find bend over boyfriends, butt plugs, "A Taste of Jamaica" and "Body Heat." In "Rectified," when Lela gets bored with every sex position out there, Brad arrives to teach her about one she learns is everything she'd hoped for and more. In "Delivery," Lynn takes a break from a Vegas bachelorette party so Wesley can show her a very good time. Whether exploring a new side of backdoor pleasure or affirming their passion for this sometimes taboo activity, the characters in this book savor every moment.
Baby Got Back is published by Cleis Press: http://www.cleispress.com/book_page.php?book_id=547
