American Idol Scorecard Key

Yesterday, we did a massive guest post. It was a scorecard to determine whether a contestant on American Idol is a Christian. Here, are the categories that explain your scores.

0-10 Points = the Devil

You took a quiz with 150 questions on it an only got a 10? Forget trying to determine if a contestant is a Christian, that contestant may in fact be the antichrist. Seriously, if at any point they float during one of their performances and/or breathe fire, we might have a problem.

11-50 Points ...

The "Is that contestant on American Idol a Christian? Scorecard"

Let the massive guest post begin …

A few weeks ago I asked folks to participate in a huge scorecard. About 130 folks emailed me and signed up. I sent them a line from a scorecard that I wrote to determine who on American Idol is a Christian. It contains things like:

When asked why they chose a horrible song, they throw God under the bus and say, "I felt led to pick that song." = +3 pointsThey don't cheer for fellow contestants, they "intercede" for them. = +3 pointsThey ...

You are such a Christian Hipster.

This one caught me off guard …

I wasn't expecting Publishers Weekly to review the Stuff Christians Like book because they don't review every book. And even if they did, I wasn't certain what they would say. Here is their review:

Stuff Christians Like

After creating his answer to the blog "Stuff White People Like," Christian blogger Acuff saw his satirical Web site become a popular Internet destination. His best essays, accompanied by childlike illustrations, comprise this book, which maintains t...

Hatin' on Christian Movies.

Next to Frisbee and breaking up with someone we're dating after a church retreat, I think making fun of the movie "Facing the Giants" might be one of our favorite hobbies.

I was reminded of this a few weeks ago when I tweeted the following:

"Christian movies are often like the reverse of country songs. The guy gets his wife back, his dog back and his truck back."

Because the main character in Facing the Giants (FTG) gets his truck back, people assumed I was talking about that movie. I wasn't. I ...

The iPad and God

One of my favorite blogs is written by a guy who pretends to be Steve Jobs, the Apple guru. I recently read his open letter to the people of the world about the iPad and found it surprisingly convicting as a Christian. Here is an excerpt:

The truth is, this (the iPad) is all about spiritual emptiness.

The truth is, all over the world, across every culture, there exists a sense of yearning. A kind of malaise. An emptiness. At the risk of sounding like Dr. Seuss: There is a hole in your soul...

Thinking you're naked.

Easter is about grace. And when I think about grace, one of the things that stops me short of believing in it is shame. This post, written last year, is about shame and grace and the reason we're not naked.

I don't want to brag, but I'm pretty awesome at applying band-aids. And make no mistake, there is an art. Because if you go too quickly and peel them the wrong way, they stick to themselves and you end up with a wadded up useless mess instead of the Little Mermaid festooned bandage your...

Easter is

I fear I may be too late.

We went to a store last night and they were already out of Cadbury Crème eggs. An elusive candy to begin with, something strange happens the weekend of Easter. They just disappear. It's like they know their run is over and that it's time to do a reverse commute back to England similar to Canada Geese, the most entitled animals on the planet.

But as sad as I am to see those small globes of perfection fade into a creamy sunset, I'm glad Cadbury has never tried to...

A unicorn trailer & lions on trampolines.

So a few months ago I went up to Zondervan's headquarters to record the audio book. They said let's shoot some videos. I've never done that and was very sweaty. In the middle of one of the shoots, I kind of freaked out because it's really hard to do a Christian video and not feel like you are just impersonating Rob Bell. So I did that. About a cantaloupe. And they recorded it. And added unicorns. Oh boy. Video after the jump…
