Kibbles and Bits

[image error] Thanks Alex Cavanaugh for another awesome Blogfest! I finally have my 500th follower. So thanks to Suzi at Literary Engineer for being that ONE to hit the 500the follower milestone.
This means a lot to me since my previous blog was infected with dementors and I had to start over from scratch. And thanks everyone for your support and I hope you’ll continue to come back.
[image error] Upcoming EventsThursday May 17th I’ll be starting a brand new series called The Latest and Greatest in Science. I’ll be...

First Loves Blogfest

[image error] Hi everyone, thanks for stopping by. Hope you all had an awesome weekend. And a belated Happy Mother's Day to all the moms! Without you, we would all be wandering aimlessly.

[image error] Movie – Star Wars. I never really got into the whole Star Wars thing. In fact, I never saw any of the other Star Wars movies. Yet I remember seeing the first movie when it first came out. The special effects and the epicness (is that even a word???) of the story was a turning point for me. After seeing this on the big scre...

Looking Forward

[image error] Its been a nice ten days off. April was a very busy month and I really needed the time to recuperate. I’m going to spend the next few days visiting everyone, saying hello, and catching up on the latest and greatest with you!
The Challenge gave birth to a plethora of ideas for posts and mini-series that will take me through the end of 2012! And I’ve kick started the MS for Escalation, the third book in the Breakthrough trilogy. I have close to 200 pages written and am going to open up the...

2012 A to Z Challenge Reflection Post

[image error] Well, I survived the 2012 April A to Z Challenge as did many of you. I think survive is very good word. I met some awesome people and got reacquainted with many others.
Mucho thanks to Arlee Bird at Tossing It Out for inviting me to take part as a co-host. And thanks to the other co-hosts for putting together such an awesome blogging event I learned much about myself during this past month.
Life is precious and should be treated more valuable than gold. No doubt many of you had your own p...

Z is for Zenith

Zenith
* The highest point reached by a celestial or other object.2    * The point in the sky or celestial sphere directly above an observer.
It’s hard to believe the April 2012 A to Z Challenge is over. I can’t remember having this much fun blogging. I have to say this Challenge has been my blogging zenith, a point vertically above everything else. It has been my blogging apex. So far, at least.
Thank you everyone who stopped by my blog during this past month. I met some new peop...

Y is for Y-Chromosome

[image error] Chromosomes are long pieces of DNA found in the center (nucleus) of cells. DNA is the material that holds genes. It is considered the building block of the human body. Two of the chromosomes (the X and the Y chromosome) determine if you are born a boy or a girl (your gender). They are called sex chromosomes:Females have 2 X chromosomes.Males have 1 X and 1 Y chromosome. The mother always contributes an X chromosome to the child. The father may contribute an X or a Y. Therefore, it is the c...

X is for X-Ray

[image error] X-Rays: The electromagnetic radiations that lie between ultraviolet and gamma rays with a wavelength of 0.01-10 nm is called X-rays.
Often it’s not something within the Goldilocks Zone that is “just right” that we need for life to exist and thrive. It can be something that we have to do without in order to survive.
Example: Being far away from the galactic center of our Milky Way galaxy has it’s advantages. The center of our galaxy is awash in harmful radiation. Solar systems near the center...

W is for Water

[image error] New discoveries have a way of messing with old definitions. Take, for example, the concept of a habitable world.

The standard definition of a "habitable world" is a world with liquid water at its surface; the "habitable zone" around a star is defined as that Goldilocks region - not too hot, not too cold - where a watery planet or moon can exist. DNA and RNA form out of compounds that require oxygen and phosphorus, and there's very little oxygen in the Titan system. And the very structure of D...

V is for Venture

[image error] We interrupt this regularly scheduled A to Z Challenge blog with this special report … Tech Billionaires Plan Audacious Mission to Mine Asteroids.

A group of wealthy, adventurous entrepreneurs announced a new venture called Planetary Resources, Inc., which plans to send swarms of robots to space to scout asteroids for precious metals and set up mines to bring resources back to Earth, in the process adding trillions of dollars to the global GDP, helping ensure humanity’s prosperity and paving...
