The Pueblo West Rotary Speech

So, I'm having dinner with family friends a few nights ago, discussing the book with a couple that read (and loved) it, when out of nowhere it's suggested that I speak at their next Rotary club meeting. Two days later. At seven in the morning.
"Absolutely," I said, no knowing what Rotary was all about, or [...:]

Signing books and meeting people.

Two signings in the last two days (and two more over the next two). Seventeen books signed and sold, and some very interesting people bumped into.
There was the lady that showed up today with a pad of paper covered in sticky notes. She was running errands for the elderly lady she cares for, and one [...:]

Movie Trailer Premise Review: AVATAR

Welcome to my first ever Movie Trailer Premise Review. Due to a confluence of recent events (ticket prices are going up/banks are no longer lending) I can no longer afford to review actual films. So, I've decided to watch TV trailers for upcoming titles and review the premise of these movies instead.
Today we'll be taking [...:]

Winner! Winner! Chicken dinner!

I won NaNoWriMo!
It feels good to come in first place. Especially when you get to share that honor with a few hundred thousand other people. Nothing like a massive tie to build ego and camaraderie.
All "winning" means is that I completed a 50K word novel in the month of November. But it doesn't mean I'm [...:]

Unreal review on Goodreads

From Sandi at Goodreads:
It's such a shame that Molly Fyde and the Parsona Rescue wasn't picked up by one of the big publishing houses. It's really one of the best young adult science fiction novels I've read. I liked it so much more than Ender's Game. It's so well paced and the characters are so [...:]

35,220

Wonderful morning of writing. Got up early and hit the ground running (even though I recently discovered from the Mythbusters that such a strategy is actually a detriment to a fast start).
Oh, and check out the handy-dandy NaNoWriMo ticker down on the right side. That gives you my current word count. I might be at [...:]

Half Way Home

Yesterday I hit the 25,000 mark, which means I'm half way to "winning" NaNoWriMo. What does "winning" entail? Just getting to the 50,000 mark before November 30th. I should be there by the end of week two (if not sooner), which leaves me plenty of time to give the manuscript a full edit before the [...:]

Today's book-signing.

I had a great afternoon at Appalachian State University's bookstore today. Lots of traffic, met a ton of wonderful young readers, and signed and sold over a dozen books. Hopefully a few of the people that took home flyers and bookmarks will become future fans as well.
A huge thanks to the fine folks at ASU, [...:]
