David Bowie's List of 100 Favorite Books

Today is definitely the day to post the link to this list. Most people I know are having a hard time processing this news. Perhaps reading some of these books can help.

L.A. Times Article

Thrilled to have come across this article in the L.A. Times regarding the Book'd in Burbank event that I participated in back in October!

Not so thrilled with how the photo came out, but that's another story!

nanowrimo completed!

Well, November is over, which means I have completed my third Nanowrimo!

They sent me a lovely certificate that my wonky printer turned into a piece of abstract art.

Typically, I plan an outline a month or two ahead of Nanowrimo, but this year, I ran out of time. Instead, I wrote the sections of my story with the most momentum, which meant jumping around quite a bit. I've never written that way before, but there is something liberating about abandoning linear writing and following, instead, the energy of the story.

And to those of you who think Nanowrimo is a gimmicky waste of time I say....I wrote a 184 page draft of a novel in November. What did you do?

artist in residence at the Annenberg in Santa Monica

I am thrilled to share the news that I have been selected as the writer in residence at the Annenberg in Santa Monica for the winter quarter! I will start my tenure on January 13th, 2016 and I'll be there through March 15th, 2016. During my time there I will be working on a new novel, holding office hours on Mondays from 11-2 (come by with a writing project!), running evening programming for one night a month, keeping a blog on the beach house website and taking in the sites of our beautiful coastline.

While the residency is through the Annenberg pictured here:

My office will be right nextdoor at the historic Marion Davies guest house:

You can see how close they are in the photo below:

I'll be running three evening cultural programs during my time there. More information to follow shortly!
