In my experience, writer's block is caused by one of two things:
1. Tiredness/illness/depression
2. Problems with the plot
If it's the first, the answer is usually change and a rest. Take a walk. Do other creative things, like crafts or music. Go to sleep. Let myself off for a few days. Sometimes it takes as much discipline to do this as to actually write, but it usually works.
If it's the second, then what I need to do is pull the plot back and plan again. It can be even harder to admit I'm wrong, and can feel pretty depressing, but once I get the plot write, things start to flow again.(less)

When I was a child, I had lots of imaginary friends and an imaginary country. To me, they were completely real. It's like that with the people in my stories and the places where they live. I daydream about them, living out parts of their story that might never even make it into the book. Sometimes I just want to climb inside their psyche and stay there forever.(less)
