I’m going to Bangkok in October to speak at EARCOS (East Asia Regional Council of Schools conference), and plan to be working/writing in Asia for November/December (it was way to cold in Cleveland this winter–and winter hasn’t ended). Delicately brushing away the soil with his fingers, Aki Ra uncovers a dark green land mine buried two inches beneath the overgrown dirt road. The size of a large soup can, the mine was planted by the Khmer Rouge about 15 years ago on this ox track in northwestern Cambodia—the most densely mined region of one of the most heavily mined countries in the world.

New Species of Legless Amphibian Found in Cambodia
A new species of legless amphibian resembling a giant earthworm or a snake has been discovered in a remote but threatened area of Cambodian rainforest, conservationists said on Friday.
