honouring the reader
As I make my way through book two, and I find myself the recipient of some immensely wonderful support, I find myself dwelling more and more about honouring the reader.
For those who have enjoyed Awaken I feel honour-bound and motivated to make sure I put in more thought, more effort, more depth and love into its sequel. I know it can often be a let down, like movie sequels when you read the next instalment and feel somewhat unsatisfied. I personally don't like loose ends left hanging. I like all the stories, even the small side ones, to be neatly tucked away and resolved.
I'm thoroughly overwhelmed with the kindness that has been shown to me by readers and fellow authors. Nothing is more motivating than knowing you doing something right. It stokes the fire of ambition to do it even better. So I put my head down and pull at every thread in my imagination to honour the readers as you have honoured me by reading my book.

Book 2 progress
Book 2, the sequel to Awaken is coming along nicely. I'm about 3/4 done and have a clear path ahead. Although I don't have an official deadline I've asked my editor to give me one to motivate my tail into 1st gear. I'm rather impatient to get this one out there. I really want to share what happens next to Sophia. It's exciting and frustrating all at once knowing what's going on whilst no-one else does. Its like having a secret you're just busting to share! Have to force myself to keep a lid on things for now.
Hoping to have a full draft done by then end of July. My working date for publication is close to Christmas.
Until then, I'll keep my head down.

Hello Goodreaders
Whilst I have another blog snuggly tucked up at Wordpress I thought it astute to get talking on this lovely new playground.
Goodreads has been a pleasant surprise, I clearly under utilised it up until yesterday. What a wonderfully diverse place to receive and offer recommendations from like minded book lovers and authors!
As I plug away, spilling ink through the sequel to my first book, Awaken, I am enjoying the connections coming together through social media.
I've found the bookish community a beautifully friendly place to retreat to, to reach out to and to be welcomed into. I am more thoroughly motivated in my writing because of this. My passion to write more, to write better every day is soaring.
I look forward to sharing more about my writing exploits and also to making more wonderful connections.Awaken
