A romance author at a Worcester Sharks hockey game.

Hubby and I took our son and 2 nieces to a Worcester Sharks hockey game today. While my son, hubby, and Brittany seemed bored Katrina and I enjoyed it. She got really angry that the other team, the Adirondack Phantoms won.

I gave Kitty the camera and let her take a few pictures.Halfway through the game her sister was asking when it was going to be over, but Kitty was reading the names on the program and trying to find the guys on the benches, which were right in front of us. We had awesome seats. So close that when one of the players on the opposing team swore she heard and said he should have had to go in the penalty box.  She found lots of reasons why the other team should have spent time in the box. There was an ad on the flyer for an upcoming game and asked if we could go. Hubby said yes. So it looks like I'll be going to see the Sharks on Friday March 30th when they take on the Portland Pirates.

We chose 2 players from each team that we both liked. From the Worcester Sharks #53 Brandon Mashinter (she liked that his name was like masher) and #22 Tim Kennedy (because he was speedy)

From the Adirondack Phantoms we chose #8 Mike Testwuide  (Kitty was able to find him on and off the ice) and # 49 Michael Leighton, the goalie. He did stop us from scoring, a lot.

Funny moments during the game: dude behind us was really into the game. At one point he shouted "Come on Leighton, we all know you like it when guys grab your stick" I laughed, but my nieces turn and asked me why and I need to come up with a quick fib. Later same dude "You incompitent boobs" this time we all laughed.

I have to say a lot of the players were handsome and had  longish hair. They also were mostly pretty tall with wide shoulders, which made the romance writer in me wonder how much of it was padding and how much was real?

Thursday Thirteen: Reasons I Believe My Daughter's Cat Thinks....

Let me start by introducing everyone to Zombie.

He's a big beautiful fluffy cat. We think a little Maine Coon do to his size and fluffiness. The following are 13 Reasons why I believe he thinks I'm the weakest of the herd.
1) He has that big cat mentality.
2) That's my desk he's sitting on.
3) No matter where I'm walking he runs in front of me. I'm not sure if he thinks were racing, or just wants to knock me down.

4) If I walk into the kitchen he goes directly to the fridge. This should be a reason for me not to go there. Maybe he's trying to be a diet aide.
5) Of all the cats in this house, and there are five, he is the only one will decide if he wants my attention he's getting it. Seriously I can be sitting in the chair typing away on my laptop and he will lay right on top of it so i have to stop.
6) He will come a sit next to me and head butt my hand until I pat him. 7) If you hold your fingers chest hieght and rub them together Zombie will jump from the floor into your arms. In my case all I have to do his move my arms and he takes it as an invitation.
8) When I'm watching TV he wont just sit on my lap. No he's a typical male and he likes boobs. He loves to lay right across my breasts and rub his face on my chin.
9) He's very demanding.
10) When we lived in Maine the cats were allowed to go outisde. Now that we are in Massachusttes in the city they're not. Zombie is so spoiled he has a harness and leash so he can be walked around the yard. This chore usually falls to me.
11) Often Zombie will just sit there and stare at me until I get up and see what he wants. 12) He will sit on the arm of my chair and whip his tail at me when he's annoyed.
13) The biggest reason I believe HE thinks I'm the weakest is because if we all have food he comes after mine. Not just sits there and stares if it's something he really wants he will try to take it off my plate.
You know after writing this I'm beginning to think I may be the weakest in our herd.

No New Years Resolutions, But Big Changes.

This year I decided I need to make some  BIG changes. I'm setting monthly goals for myself and putting them out there hoping to keep myself motivated.

Writing:
I'm going to work on getting at least 1k a day in no matter what, but really I'm aiming for 5k a day. I want to finish and sub at least 5 novellas and 3 50k+ pieces this year. See setting the bar high, but no too high. I like to have a few.

Reading:
Has always been a passion for me. 1-2 books a week is easy, but this year I am going to make sure I go to BN, Amazon, and goodreads and leave reviews. This is a 2 part process. First it'll hopefully help the authors, but also it should help me keep better track of what I've read.

Accountability is going to be key this year. I plan on stepping up everywhere. I'm gonna keep journals to log

January writing goals are:
Finish Brazen 6. I started this for a week later for my NaNo project, but holidays really got in my way.
I am going to work on novellas for Siren and PPB.
Since I'm diabetic I need to get on track with these, especially since I slipped hard over the holidays. Eating goals:

Add more veggies.
Try at least three new dishes.
Exercise:
Ride exercise bike at least and hour 2x a day.
Wow! Looking at all that now I'm glad I broke my plans into monthly goals. Here's to staying on track.

December 30, 2011

Last Friday of 2011

Sitting here going over plans for the next year and wondering if I have totally lost all sense of reality. For comparision I looked back over my goals for 2011 and found that I accompished quite a few of them, but far from all.

If I had to choose something that surprised me this year it would be my novells A Damsel Without A Dress winning a Bookie Award at Author's After Dark Conference in Philly.

I'm also happy to say that in December I had my 15th title released. It only took 3 years to reach that goal. I also managed to master Facebok and Twitter. Maybe I'll get this blog under control by the end of 2012.

Vanessa "The Jeep Diva" Joy from Joyfully Reviewed I attended 2 reader conferences giving me the honor of meeting some amazing authors, and wonderful bloggers.

 Matt and Rebecca Sawyer
at
Author's After Dark in Philly
 Some Siren Publishing Authors at
Lori Foster Reader Get Together

I had so much fun. The different parties, events, and panels were amazing.

Over the last twelve months a read some great books too.
Melissa Schroeder's A Little Harmeless Sex,

Karen Hawkins  Scandal In Scotland,

Sabrina Jeffries How To Woo A Reluctant Lady,

and Erin Kellison's Shadow Bound were just a few of my favorites.

Next years schedule is jam packed full of work, fun (I hope), and lots of reading. Here's hoping everyone accomplishes everything they want in the next year.

Tasty Tuesday: Christmas Eve Dinner

This year my family is getting together at my mother's house for a little Christmas Eve dinner. Well really there's nothing little when my big family gets together. So Saturday I will be making 2 huge lasagnas, a pan of chicken broccoli Alfredo, and a pan of linguine Carbonara. I'll also, with my nieces help, be making mini-pigs in a blanket. Now the question is what's for dessert?

What are you having?
