Ambition

One of my ambitions is to sell a few books. OK, I have sold a few books already but not enough to match the ambition. No, I mean a few thousand of one book.

The Last Observer, my first novel, probably is the leading candidate for that ambition at least until I can finish the one I am working on at the moment and get it out. The Last Observer has gotten a lot of good reviews but it hasn’t taken off like I had hoped. Check it out… it is a short read and a fast-paced adventure that along the way, will give you a lot to think about on the nature of reality. Join Stanley as he gets sucked into a world of black and white magic. It is a battle for reality. Here is how one recent reader described it..”Interesting perspective regarding how our infinite minds may shape our collective reality. Many books tackle this hypothesis, but this action thriller makes for fun reading as you gather fascinating concepts along the way. The story line and presentation of historical ideas is quite similar to a Dan Brown novel, in an abbreviated version.”

Inner Journeys was my first book. It too has had excellent reviews and it is probably best described as part autobiography and part spiritual journey.  A recent reader posted “This book is part memoir and part teaching, focusing on Dr. Vasey’s own inner journey. As a young boy, he had many psychic experiences that enveloped him in fear. But, years later, he embraced the exploration of the many aspects of his soul, working with the guidance of a mystery school. If you are interested in spiritual alchemy, collective consciousness, journeying – or whatever term you use for this type of spiritual exploration – you will learn much from this book.” Published by Thoth, its now also available in eBook format.

The next book I wrote I simply could not finish. I had the core of it and it was a sort of continuation of Inner Journeys but dealt with some material I had gained on the hexagram as a symbol. Luckily, Sue Vincent agreed to help put the finishing touches to it which included the introduction and much of the appendices as well as diagrams and editing. The result was The Mystical Hexagram published by Datura Press and also available in ebook form. Here is what a recent reader had to say about it..I have been so lucky (although nothing is luck, really) to have made the acquaintance of Sue Vincent, the coauthor of the Mystical Hexagram, through the world of blogging. Not only is she a lovely, genuine soul, she harbors a wealth of knowledge. She and Dr. Vasey have combined their talents in this small, yet densely packed book on the hexagram. Although I will, no doubt, be unraveling its many mysteries for some time, this book has helped shed light on a symbol that has, over the last few years, been a key player in leading me to mysteries of the Universe and my own Truth. For all seekers of truth, put this on your reading list!

Of course, I have also published three books of poetry. These I do not expect to be best sellers but you never know… They are Weird Tales, Astral Messages and Poems for the Little Room.

Why not give one of my books a try and if you like it, please write a review and share your opinions with people. I think the only way I will manage my ambition is through word of mouth and the support of my friends and family. Share this post or pop over to my books’ Facebook page and like it…..

Thanks,

TGIF

It is Friday.

It is the end of the working week and time to spend a couple of days engaged in activities other than work. For me and many of my home town peeps, this is a big weekend as Hull City play their first FA cup semi-final since 1930 with a real chance to get to a first ever FA Cup final. On Sunday at 5.07pm local time, I’ll be sat in the local sports bar, half liter in hand to watch that game.

To be honest though, the weekend doesn’t mean an end to work. Nope – just a change in format. I finally have some time to get around to doing some household chores. The work never stops nor ends but the variety makes things interesting….

I hope you all have a happy weekend… and not too much work!

Meanwhile, here are some scenes from our last FA Cup semi final…..

What Am I Becoming?

I never saw myself as a grammar nazi. I make mistakes. We all do when writing. We also use short cuts like ‘u’ for you and so on. To me that is acceptable. I know that I am clueless about commas. I have no idea where commas go so I kind of make it up as I go along. This too must annoy comma nazis. However….

Just recently I have become really quiet appalled at the mistakes people make in written English. Many of these people are totally unaware that they make mistakes too, which makes it even worse. The ones that really, really bug me are as follows;

1. There, Their, They’re

2. Were, Where, We’re and,  would you believe – Wear?

3. To, Too, Two

4. Your, You’re

5. Peek, Pique, Peak

6. It’s,  Its

There are others but it these particular examples that crop up over and over again.

I think the problem is that once you start to notice something because it irritates you, you begin to see it everywhere.  All of a sudden, incorrect usage of words seem to pounce out at and jump on you, fists flailing. You find them laying in wait causing a gritting of teeth and tightening of the sphincter as the blood pressure rises bit by bit.

It’s a plot I tell you! A plot!

And it just serves to remind me that we do really create our own reality through the way that we interact and perceive things. If you give something permission to bug you then all of a sudden the Universe decides….. let’s get that Bastard.

Life

Blame

I know that you blame me

And everyone else

But I can tell you

You must blame yourself

You can’t live life

Without actually doing

You can’t truly experience

Without taking some risks

Life

Accept the responsibility

That comes with living

Reach out and thrive

It’s not the taking but the giving

You can’t live life

By never being a part of it

You can’t truly experience

Without just diving right on in

Words

You say that they don’t matter

But it’s better to be silent

Than to utter ugliness

The Word created this firmament

You can’t live life

Cursing those around you

You can’t truly experience

Especially, if you completely alienate

Be

All that you can achieve

Raise yourself and fill that cup

Let light shine down on you

Pull yourself onwards and up

You can’t live life

Shut up inside your own shell

You can’t truly experience

The intensity of this gift of Life

The Journey

I see inside with dream-like vision

I glide through slinky lines of time

Silver lights and golden kites

I bathe in light and gently recline

Like feeling carelessness’ caress

Ripples moving up and down my spine

Thunderous sounds so boldly loud

Speak? These tongues simply opine

Tunnels filled and gently moved along

Dancing faeries all in a line

I drift and travel onwards still

Into worlds and realms of mine

Is this truly my heaven then?

In the stillness of this un-time

Deeper and yet deeper still

Into this universe of patient calm

Knowing that whatever I foresee

I am certain that it’s really mine

The Five Characteristics of Rich People

I was just over on Linkedin where some business/wealth magazine had posted an article with the above title. Their five characteristics were the ones that you would expect… communication, blah blah blah blah….

In my life I have met my fair share of rich people. I don’t mean wealthy and I do mean rich – in excess of $10 million minimum. They did all share a set of characteristics but it wasn’t the ones I just read about. The first characteristic was to be honest greed. They coveted money and they would do almost anything to get it and absolutely anything to keep it once they had it. One man I know whose child played on a ice hockey team with my son would routinely call me up and ask if I would be renting a car for the weekend tournament in Denver or wherever it was? I always said Yes and yes again when he asked if he and his son could share it with us. After about 4 of these trips I began to realize what he really meant was would you give me a free weekend when it comes to a rental car please chump? He was worth many millions of USD this man and he was a devout christian but it never once entered his head to pay half the car rental with me….. Another very wealthy person I know has no friends. None. You see he is paranoid that anyone he meets is after his money and he feels that no one can be trusted… poor guy.

I think another trait of very wealthy people is utter selfishness. They don’t give money to charity unless their tax accountant tells them it will help and they display characteristics like those above. They out for one person and only one person and that is themselves. They would sell their grandmother and rent out their wives to make more money. Ego is usually another characteristic. They are rich, they did it from nothing. They are the special gifted and talented one. Everything they touch turns to gold and they have that Midas touch. My fourth characteristic would be tirelessness. When it comes to getting more money they work ceaselessly and tirelessly to do so and they expect others to work with the same work ethic to make them money too – employees are worked and worked hard. Finally, the other characteristic is a good tax accountant. Someone who can make sure they don’t pay any taxes on all that dosh or, if they do, its not very much.

I can’t think of a single rich person I have ever met that didn’t display these traits frankly. Even the heiress I met when a student as she was a lecturer at a college and involved in a similar field wore the same dress day in day out, drove an old beat up car, spent nothing but was constantly seeking her next dime….

I’m not anti rich people by the way. I’d love to have 5-6 million myself so I could relax and take some time for myself. I just do think that the way we try to emulate their super characteristics is ridiculous. Usually these so called characteristics are a myth and the real reason they got rich is because they used people, stole ideas and got lucky. Bill Gates didn’t think of windows, Richard Branson screwed his best friend over crying as he did so…. I do really think these people sell their soul for material wealth and power. They don’t write a contract with the Devil (usually anyway) but they do lose sight of their inner treasures and are deceived by material things. They sell themselves down the river….

Let’s stop trying to emulate these people. Putin is such a person – he is worth billions all stolen from the people that elected? him. Berlusconi, the just ousted Ukraine President, Gaddafi and on and on…. Richard Branson, Bill Gates and so on aren’t people to emulate but people to feel sorry for and to avoid like the plague quite honestly.

Just my view….

Memories

I think memories a strange thing. When I really want to remember something I can have a very hard time like my PIN number or someone’s name but at other times memories flood back unexpectedly. My mind, like everyone else’s I suspect, works best with images. Faces I can recall in an instant the name that goes with that face…. not so fast! It makes for those awkward moments where you are talking to someone who plainly knows you and your name and whose face seems familiar but you cannot place them at all……

Anyway, having moved back to Brno and to our apartment, I am having memories. The last time I saw my father alive was here and I can see him ever so clearly in this apartment. I see him asleep outside in a chair, I see him sat at the dinner table having polished off his meal and I can see him sat on the sofa patiently waiting to go to bed. It is so clear to me that it almost feels as if he is here. My Dad really liked Brno and for that week he was here he was well – the entire week! It seemed to do him good. We even went for a beer or two across the road and sat for a couple of hours talking and discussing things like global warming, the EU, family history, women….. the things guys talk about. It was that night that he told me a bit more about his family as other than his father, his mother and brother had died before I was born. It was a lovely week and he had a great time. Just a few months later, a week before we were due to visit, he passed quite quickly and somewhat unexpectedly. I still miss him.

Dad, as I remember him in our kitchen on his last visit...

Back in Brno

I am sat in my small office in our own apartment in Brno and already it feels somehow as if we had never left. There remains work to be done. Some additional unpacking and some hanging of pictures and so on but we are more or less done. Then of course, we need to do a least clean up and we are in. There are a number of projects still needed to be done. For example, the huge double front doors were never painted and they look horrible at the moment. Our built in closet is like a small room and requires some fittings, there are no towel rails in the bathroom or toilet and so on…. Our house is the one to the right in the photo below and we are the ground floor apartment.

jiraskova_fausto_full

We live in the neighbourhood of Veveri just outside of the city centre. Its a Victorian area full of huge mansions complete with embellishments like Angels, Green man faces and other designs. At one time, these were the homes of the wealthy industrialists and their servants. Now they are mostly converted into apartments. Our house, for example, has four apartments in it. There are numerous small pubs, restaurants, clubs and a variety of small businesses including traditional bakers, butchers, alongside consulting businesses and real estate agents. It makes for a busy, bustling and active location but one that is imposing and in some areas almost regal. It would look fantastic if it wasn’t for the lack of any parking meaning that the streets are full of parked cars. In fact, the only drawback to the location is really finding a parking spot.

Brno itself has a huge and important University – Masaryk University with over 40,000 students. That means that Brno has the feel of a student town as well as students make up around 10% of the population of the City.

The City is dominated by two areas of higher land in the centre. One has Brno Castle (Spilberk) on it and that lies at the bottom of our street making for a great view when walking into town. The second has a major church atop it called St. Peters and St. Pauls. Together, these two buildings dominate the skyline of the City. The City also has a variety of attractions including a TT circuit, an ossuary, the Capuchin Crypt, a man-made lake, its own airport, one of the largest exhibition centers in the world, a penis-like clock and much more……

The Mighty IPCC Speaks….. We Are Doomed!

The IPCC is the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change – a UN body dedicated to convincing us all that man-made CO2 is behind climate change. I have little time for these bozos quite frankly as it is a fact that climate changes throughout geological time and it does so magnificently without any help from us. Furthermore, any organisation that tries to convince us Earth loving folk that CO2 is a pollutant rightly deserves the very best of our condemnation. How dare anyone or any body tell us that CO2 – the life sustaining gas that drives this planet – is a bloody pollutant!!!???? Any less of the stuff and we may all die as I can tell you as a Ph.D. Geologist that current CO2 levels are about the LOWEST they have ever been in geological history. This time, the IPCC have outdone themselves by issuing a report that warns of dire consequences but nothing actually specific so that we can’t all come back in a year or so and ask why their predictions (yet again) didn’t actually come true. In doing this, they actually alienated one of their own – the chief author of the Economics Impact chapter – who has asked to have his name removed from the report’s summary because it is too ‘alarmist’ (please not that many, many scientists who have had their names attached to these IPCC reports have asked the same but not gotten very far!). Here is what Professor Tol had to say….

According to Monday’s report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a further warming of 2C could cause losses equivalent to 0.2-2 per cent of world gross domestic product. On current trends, that level of warming would happen some time in the second half of the 21st century. In other words, half a century of climate change is about as bad as losing one year of economic growth. Since the start of the crisis in the Eurozone, the income of the average Greek has fallen more than 20 per cent. Climate change is not, then, the biggest problem facing humankind. It is not even its biggest environmental problem. The World Health Organisation estimates that about 7m people are now dying each year as a result of air pollution. Even on the most pessimistic estimates, climate change is not expected to cause loss of life on that scale for another 100 years.

Well said Prof. Toll.

Its time to tell these eco-terrorists what we think of them and their silly, irrelevant computer models and their selected temperatures and selective science….. F**k off!

Bored

bored

Sitting here

Not sure what to do

I could start something

Or I could do nothing

At all

The truth is I am bored

Bored with my life

I’m looking for escape

Seeking excitement, or nothing

At all

Been half a century

Actually a little more

Been here, been there

Actually, almost everywhere

It’s all bland

All pre-canned

So fucking boring

Listen, I’m snoring

Bored with the politics

Bored with nationalism

Bored with the fighting

And jostling for position

Bored with the arguments

Bored with the song

Bored with almost everything

It’s been too long

Sitting here

Still wondering what to do

Shall I start something

Or do nothing

At all

The truth is I am bored

Bored with it all

I’m wanting excitement

Or nothing

At all
