I'll work on something else for awhile - sometimes it's that I have a block for the particular book I'm working on, but I can still write other stuff. This allows me to be productive even if I'm blocked on something. If I'm stuck and can't write at all, I at least try to journal. I figure just putting words on a page helps. But, if all else fails, I don't try and force it. I find personally that makes it harder to get over what's blocking me. So I'll try other things - listening to music, reading new books, visiting the library and taking out a ton of non-fic books, going somewhere I've never been before, or doing something else creative like needlework or painting. Sometimes getting new things in my brain kickstarts the writing.(less)
