Let’s Talk Writing and Fear

Because let’s face it, there’s a crapload out there to be fearful of when it comes to writing:

Failure

Success

The success or failure of other writers

Falling behind the curve or being way ahead of it

Writing great stories

Writing craptastic stories

What are other writers saying

What if other writers aren’t saying anything at all

Doing it right or doing it wrong

Being different

Being the same

And there are countless more fears… We all share some level of the same fears, but we also share som...

Music Monday And The Size Of My Ass… Or Your Ass

Kinda catchy, yeah? The title of this post, I mean. So, let’s get down and dirty…

My ass is a size 22. A size 24 sometimes, depending on, oh let’s see… my stress level, my hormones, my state of happy or sad, my depression, my job (how many hours I’ve sat in a chair and for how many days), my diet, and my genetic pool. Some of these things stay level (genetic pool) and some (all the rest) of them fluctuate by the hour. And they all affect the size of my ass.

All this size crap? Sucks. That lit...

How Do You Find The Books You Read?

Library room with books

This story is already known to some, but when I started reading romance, it was because of the library and a woman I met there. I was looking for a different type of book, but it ended up being near the romance section. She was there browsing their collection, looking very intense, and when I’d grabbed the book I was there to get, I took a few steps in her direction. I wanted to see what had her so riveted.

I had never picked up a romance novel. I’d always read crime thrillers or non-fiction...

Music/Movie Monday – I Will Survive

From the movie, The Replacements… With football season officially over for 2015/2016, it’s time for me to settle in for the long wait until it starts up again. I’ll be keeping myself entertained and occupied with NASCAR and golf.

I. Will. Survive.

Congratulations to the Denver Broncos and to Peyton Manning. If Super Bowl 50 was his final game, what a hell of a way to go out! He’s had an incredible career, one of the greatest to ever play and understand the dynamics of the game.

On Creativity

I use Pinterest a lot. Still. I have 60 public boards and several private boards. I love the different things I find, the visual inspiration. The things that are most repinned are food. I’d like it if other things got equal representation, but food seems to be universal…

I started a new board recently and I titled it On Creativity. I’ve been feeling more and more creatively inspired this year. This is a change. And a good one. A really good one. I didn’t feel creatively inspired last year. Or...

10K Weekends For Writers – Week 5

10K WEEKENDS-2_500

I don’t know about y’all, but I need A LOT of words this weekend. I need ass in the chair, fingers on keys, and words pouring out of my eyeballs onto the screen.

It’s week 5 of 10K Weekends For Writers and week 4 was a pathetic effort on my part. I got less words last weekend than I’ve gotten all year long and we’re only in February! (Can you believe that, btw? I mean FEBRUARY!)

So, bring your manuscript, your determination, your motivation, your terrible for you snacks (or if you’re one of...

Where Is That Damn Village?

Oh, right. I don’t have one. That was discussed back at the beginning of January in my list post.

I write a paranormal book, and thankfully, people come out of the woodwork to pimp that. Put out a contemporary and it’s like crickets. That’s not good for sales. Not in a culture where it takes hours to pimp a book. Days to pimp a book.

People have shared my posts and I am more than grateful to them for it.

I tried a Facebook ad, but Facebook rejected the ad because the cover was too objectifyin...

Temptation Tuesday – Call Me…

So, I’ve been writing this story on and off for a while… It’s a rough draft, so, please excuse any typos or grammar errors.

The subject matter is off-putting to a lot of people and while I understand that, well, you don’t have to read it. I, however, am fascinated by the subject matter…

I haven’t decided on a title for the book yet, but Call Me … Is likely to be a series title.

I have a confession to make…

There’s a word that describes me at my core. It’s a word that evokes a lot of emotion...
