It’s a blizzard of free samplers!

It’s a common problem: you see a book or an online course that may help with the problem you’re experience. and you wonder if it’s worth spending money on.
What if the contents are just regurgitated material you’ve read or watched a dozen times? What if clicking on the link leads to scammer?
In recognition of this issue, I’ve created free samplers for all my books and online courses. A sampler allows you to taste the product without spending money. The sampler has content from the actual book or course so you can see exactly what you’re buying beforehand. If you like the material in the sampler, you can then buy the complete product, at a discount!
The Writers & Authors Resource Center has a number of samplers available and I’ve listed them below along with a link to grab a copy.

Free Book Marketing Tactics

Book Marketing, to most new authors, is a nebulous concept.
There seems to be no starting or ending point. Research on the web frequently leads to more confusion than insights. If the author has a publisher, she might get some marketing guidance. If the author is self-published, she is effectively on her own.
So what’s an author to do?
One way to start on a book marketing campaign is to work on a few free marketing tactics. This will begin to spread the word about the book and give the author some confidence.
The next question, logically enough, is: Where does the author find out about these free tactics?
My Free Book Marketing Tactics video course has just such content. And it’s a freebie!

Now Available: WritersARC Overview
On the site, content is grouped by Categories and that sometimes makes it difficult to find what you are looking for. To simplify matters, I arranged the content on a more logical order and published it in the form of an ebook.
The ebook, titled WritersARC Overview, can also be used to understand what the site is all about
You can grab a copy of this handy guide on the site or by downloading a copy here WARC Overview.

Fundamentals of Book Marketing

Writing a book and getting it published doesn’t prepare an author to market that book. Marketing and writing are two very different endeavors. So what’s an author to do?
The best way to begin marketing your book is to get a mentor to help: someone who has been through marketing campaigns. That’s my job. I’ve self-published and marketed over 25 books.
To help out authors who are just starting the marketing process for their book, I created a Personal Instruction Course called Fundamentals of Book Marketing. With a Personal Instruction Course it’s just you and me.
This is an email course and each day for ten days you will receive an email containing a lecture. Many of the emails also contain an assignment for you to work on to hone your marketing skills. You can email me with any questions or comments you have.
Fundamentals of Book Marketing addresses the following areas:
Author platform
Marketing content
Marketing activities
Book reviews
Events
Publicity
Advertising
Why wait? Get started on your book marketing campaign now!

My newest project: helping writers and authors
I belong to two local writing groups and several more groups such as you can find on Facebook and LinkedIn.
I’ve found that most writers seeking help fall into one of three categories. The first is writers trying to learn or improve the craft of writing fiction. The second is authors seeking to self-publish a book for the first time and the third is authors trying to market their book.
I’ve been writing fiction for over twenty years and I’ve self-published more than twenty-five books and I’ve marketed those books. My point is that I have the expertise and experience to help the three types mentioned above. The question has always been: How can I do that?
After thinking about it for quite a while, I finally found a solution. I started the Writers & Authors Resource Center abbreviated as WritersARC. The site is a place where writers and authors can come to find answers and get advice. It has articles, checklists, questionnaires, ebooks, book samples, on-line courses, webinars and much more.
The motto I developed for site is: Sharing knowledge is more important than making money.
However the website is expensive to maintain so I charge reasonable prices for some of the content. Speaking of content, there is currently thirty products on the site and more is planned. Major components are listed below.
Current on-line courses are:
Plot+Scenes = Emotional Arc
How to Self-publish and Market a Book
Mind-mapping a Novel
Fiction Writing Topics
Self-publishing Starter Kit
Story Design
Personal Instruction Courses include:
Writing Satire
Fundamentals of Book Marketing
Planned webinars include: Let’s Talk About Self-publishing in January and Book Marketing for Beginners in February. More webinars will follow in the succeeding months.
Planned future courses include Story-telling Techniques and Book Marketing Fundamentals
To learn more about the site, watch this short video.

The Writers ARC is a members only site (to reduce the threat of trolls), but membership is free. There is a companion Facebook group (since the main site doesn’t provide a way for members to communicate). https://www.facebook.com/groups/790841745046206
One major problem with a new site like this is getting found by the people who can use it. So if you know someone who is in one of the three categories mentioned above, please share this post or the main website link, Writers & Authors Resource Center.

Writing Satire and Humor

Writing humor and satire isn’t as easy to do as you may think.
I know because I’ve been doing it for over 20 years.
Using all this experience, I’ve created a workshop to explain how to write a humorous or satiric story called Writing a Satiric Story.
It’s called a Personal Instruction Course or PIC for short. It’s a one-on-one course: just you and me. Every day for five days, you’ll receive an email with a lecture attached. The fifth and last lecture is an assignment to develop your WIP or a new story as a humorous or satiric story.
You can ask me questions and send me comments.
