I’m On a Winning Streak
I find out whether I’ve won the Lambda Literary Award for best romance novel on June 1. (Check out the announcement on Oprah’s Magazine website here: https://www.oprahmag.com/entertainment/books/a31261320/lambda-literary-awards-finalists-2020/)
In the meantime, I just got word that “Best Man” was named a runner-up for a 2020 Next Generation Indie Book Award for LGBTQ literature. The official announcement for the Indies will come out at the end of this month, with a (virtual) celebration happening on Friday, June 26.

I can't tell you how much this means to me. For those of you who've been rooting for me from the beginning, I share this honor with you.

Best Man at Martuni’s – Thursday, July 25, at 7 p.m.
I’m really excited to have been invited to read and sign copies of BEST MAN at Martuni’s in San Francisco on Thursday, July 25. Hope to see you there.
My last reading, a solo presentation at Book Passage bookstore in the San Francisco Ferry Building, was an experience I’ll never forget. It was my first solo event. Usually I’m not behind a microphone for longer than a few minutes, but for this one I had over a half hour to read an talk about my inspiration for BEST MAN. My warmest gratitude to everyone who came.

Author-Only Event – Book Passage – Monday, July 8
My mouth was dry after reading, but I still managed to eat a piece of Rainbow Cake.
Thanks again to Folio Books and the Odd Mondays series for featuring me for their Pride Month reading event. It had been a while since I’d read in front of an audience, but still I enjoyed sharing my work aloud.
My next event is a momentous one for me: an official launch party where it’s just me reading.
This one comes courtesy of Left Coast Writers and Book Passage bookstore in San Francisco’s Ferry Building, where I’ll be reading on Monday, July 8, at 6 p.m. I’ve never gone solo before, and I’m nervous and excited about it. If you happen to live in San Francisco and can make it, I’d love to meet you.
I think it’ll only make sense for me to read a scene that takes place at the Ferry Building; I’ll just tell my audience to look out the bookstore’s plate-glass window in order to picture the scene.
Me reading at Folio Books on June 17. A Twitter #fangirl took the pic.

Event – Folio Books – June 17
I’m flattered and excited to be reading and signing books at Folio Books (in San Francisco’s Noe Valley on Monday, June 17, at 7 p.m.
I’m one of four readers to have been invited to read at the bookstore’s Odd Mondays series for LGBTQ Pride Month. You can read about all of Folio Books’s June events on their website, here: http://foliosf.com/events/. You can also look it up on Facebook, here: https://www.facebook.com/events/663299004126276/.
If you happen to be in the neighborhood on June 17, I would love to meet you.
I’m an expert catastrophizer, so of course I thought my shipment of books in time wouldn’t be here in time for the signing. They came yesterday. Whew!

Best Man – Here At Last
After countless edits over the past several years, I can finally announce that my third novel, Best Man, has made it to the light of day. This is the story of two roommates who fake being boyfriends to attend a wedding: the first is in love with one of the grooms, while the other has the hots for the other groom. In this book the characters struggle with faithfulness and unfaithfulness, honesty and dishonesty, right from wrong. A light, breezy romance it is not. You can buy it on Amazon, here:
My sincerest thanks to my extremely small yet extremely loyal group of readers who have been waiting so patiently for this work to come out. Below are some snapshots I took that serve as the setting for some major scenes. Thank you all for your support.
At the beginning of the novel, the hero, Frank Mercer, goes to meet his best friend Jonathan Butler beneath the clock tower at San Francisco’s Ferry Building. He goes in the hope that Jonathan will tell him that he’s finally leaving Marcus, his no-good partner.
A significant scene at the end of the novel occurs on this pier, not far from the clock tower.
The “San Francisco Belle” is docked between the pier and the clock tower, reminding Frank of a “many-tiered wedding cake.” Significantly, the vessel blocks Frank’s view of the clock tower.
