75 Years Ago—Mar. 16, 1941: British destroyer HMS Vanoc becomes the first ship to track a submarine (U-100) by radar—destroyers Vanoc and Walker will sink U-100 the next day. In first successful amphibious landing of the war, British and Indian troops land at Italian-occupied Berbera in British Somaliland and take Berbera.

First British troops land in Greece to aid Greeks against Italians. Actor James Stewart is inducted into US Army.
