Club Girls

Episode 2 available now!

And it's free, today and tomorrow only!

When Cassandra and her two best friends decide to start a club, she realizes it's going to be harder than she thought. She tries to hold it together as she and her friends weather parents who don't want to drive them, vicious dog attacks, and petty cat fights. On top of that, Cassie is still trying to convince her mom to add a

New Endeavors (and free ebook!)

Episode 1 of Cassandra Jones has launched!

And just for you, just through Friday, the book is free!
This is one of my favorite projects yet. Meet Cassandra. This fifth grader is as typical, kind, selfish, and loveable as any other ten-year-old can be. Written for kids ages 8+, Cassandra Jones would love to become a member of your family! Check out the link below for more information!

Food Blog Coming Up!

I got another encouraging response from an agent today in regards to my cookbook. He said it is a good idea but that I have no credibility as a food writer. (I guess all my reviews on tripadvisor don't count ha ha.)

Since I have no intentions of joining a restaurant or imploring the Food Network to sign me up, I asked him what I could do to change that. He very kindly and enthusiastically

Book cover reveal

Are you ready?

I'm so excited to share with you my book cover for my newest books, a middle grade series about a young girl named Cassandra Jones. What's special about Cassandra? Absolutely nothing. She's as ordinary as any other fifth grader. And yet her ordinary life is riddled with hilarious and sometimes heart-breaking mishaps.I can't wait for you to get to know Cassandra! The book is

Because it's cooler than buying a book online, right?

So...

Because it's cooler than buying a book online, right?

So if you're close by, I'll be going on tour in Northwest Arkansas (and Joplin, Missouri). With the anniversary of the Joplin tornado coming up, this is the perfect time for me to get into the public view, remind people of what happened, and raise money not only for Joplin but for other cities devastated by natural disasters.

New Year's Resolutions

Right, right, I know, it's that time again. Believe me, I'm rolling my eyes too. So instead of boring you with a list of resolutions that look remarkably similar to the ones I made last year, I'll just share one with you.

Send out my newsletter once a month.

So the last time I sent one out was probably, oh, a year and a half ago. I've always just kind of thought I don't have a lot to say, but I

Write much?

So from time to time I run into people I hardly ever see. Invariably the question comes out, "So you been writing anything lately?"

Am I the only one who thinks this is the dumbest question to ever ask an author? For authors, writing is like breathing. It's like eating. Would you walk up to someone and say, "Been breathing lately?"

It's a given. It's a duh.

But here's the low-down, for

The Best Little Conference You've Never Heard of

You just missed it for this year, so don't even bother pulling out your calendar or scrambling to fit it in. But this is absolutely the best conference this side of the Rocky Mountains. (I'm in Arkansas.)

Which conference is it? The Midwest LDStorymakers Conference.

It's new. You've never heard of it. This is only the third year and our attendance is less than 100 people. But let me tell ya, as

Tornado Warning: Raising Funds for Joplin

It's finally a reality! Tornado Warning is out!

I'm so excited for this. The book represents a culmination of a dream: my opportunity to use my talents to help Joplin.

The book is for sale on Amazon and Barnes and Noble, for Nook and Kindle, and in many bookstores throughout Missouri and Arkansas. Your bookstore can get it in for you, too.

I was interviewed on the Great Day St. Louis morning
