Emunah Short Stories

I lost my job and write my books full time now.

The silver lining in that dark cloud is that I can launch 2 or 3 books a month instead of once every 2 months, which means, I can get my 12 book Emunah short stories out sooner than originally planned.

Each book sticks to a single character's POV in a specific time period in the entire Emunah Chronicles timeline.

The first book: Abigail is a sweet but tragic love story.

The second book Oliver touches on spiritual warfare. I scared myself writing the opening chapter at night. Just saying.

Wrote and Illustrated The Scouts

I'm a writer who loves drawing cartoons. For Book 4 of Short Stories from Long Hill, I drew cartoons for the interior of the book, to portray key scenes.

As an experiment, I turned one of these drawings into the book cover for
The Scouts

It's a fun ride where Hannah Hen, Monroe Mongoose and Simon Squirrel search for the land of hope for the Long Hill residents.

Max The Cat

I've been busy working on my Short Stories from Long Hill Series. There's an overarching tale that stretches across this collection of short stories, each of which would be a single book.

The latest in this collection, Max the Cat, features Max and Monroe from Book 1. It's written at grade 3 level with themes inspired by real life. In this case, Max's human gets in trouble because he once borrowed money from a loan shark.

Besides writing the book, I drew the illustrations for it, primarily with the print version of the book in mind. These are black and white cartoon outline drawings, though for the ebook version, there would be a few splashes of colour.

It's great bedtime story that would appeal to kids and grown ups, especially those who love cats. Max the Cat (Short Stories from Long Hill) by Janice Wee

Sweet Chicken Romance Short Story

Happy Valentine’s Day!
I wrote a cute little love story about Chico and Yvette. Two little chicks who antagonise each other until they are separated.
They meet again all grown up and sparks fly between the pair.

It’s a frenemies to lovers trope.

You can get it now on Kindle Chico & Yvette

Inspired by Bukit Panjang Wildlife

I created a new series of short stories that's inspired by Animal Farm and the animals I see on my walks with my husband in the neighbourhood park in Bukit Panjang, which means, Long Hill.

It's a series I've wanted to write for a long time. The squirrels, chickens, wild boars and other wildlife fascinate me. The squirrels are so friendly, I could have sworn one of them wanted us to follow him. He'd stop when we stopped, and continue running along when we walked. Then he got bored and disappeared into the trees.

My first book in the Short Stories from Long Hill is about the chickens. Apparently, there was a storm that destroyed a chicken farm and many chickens escaped. That inspire my short story: Escape to Long Hill

Do check it out. It's a light and fun read.

Sweetcorn Suzie

I've just released the ebook version of my short story collection, Sweetcorn Suzie.

Mr Bean is my favourite character. In an interview, Rowan Atkinson explained why he named his character after a vegetable and I liked it - hence Sweetcorn Suzie. Largely my hubby's idea.

The book touches on some topics close to my heart and very painful to relive as I wrote the stories. I tried my hand at cartoon illustrations within the book. I hope you like those too.

The ebook is now available at https://books2read.com/u/mg5XDq

Christmas Scones

Yesterday, I met my old classmates from 1991. We had quite a feast and an amazing time catching up with one another.

I brought Christmas scones which was well received. Okay, I pushed them on everyone who came through the door but I was pretty happy with the way this variation of my scones turned out.

Here's the scone recipe. For dried fruits, I used red raisins, golden raisins, green raisins, black raisins and dried cranberries. For chocolate chips I used dark chocolate chips and white chocolate chips. I went all out and used a full tablespoon of vanilla extract.

The result reminded me of my mum's fruitcake sans brandy.

Maybe next time I'll get a mini bottle of brandy and douse the fruit in them before mixing them in.

Kickstarter exclusive

I gave up on Kickstarter. Then I checked today.

It succeeded!

Gonna make sure the kickstarter variant over gets through on Smashwords and then I can give the backers the code to download it for free as promised. Or find alternate ways to get that to my backers by 2 Jan 2024.

I'm relieved I worked ahead of time on the guidebook assuming it'll get the backing. Going to do what I can to make it even better and update it in time for the download. Or better still, get feedback from backers to see what else they'd like for that guide book after they get this initial edition, then give them a new version in February with what else they'd like to see in it. It's going to be for the backers :)

Got my proof

My book The Quest for Immortality has 3 different book covers. The variant cover isbn 9798223665823 Arrived yesterday.

I changed the title to remove “kickstarter exclusive” as the kickstarter campaign isn’t going to make it so it’ll be just the same book with a variant cover. Still having problems getting this 3rd book cover into the system.

Currently the covers are for Amazon The Quest for Immortality Emunah Chronicles - Full Novel by Janice Wee
The Quest for Immortality: Emunah Chronicles - Full Novel
