Elliot Ason's Blog: The Thoughts of a Short-Story-Writing Indie Author
May 28, 2024
It's been a minute
I'd had high hopes for this blog feature on GR but just never really used it. And I'm not going to kid myself and say I'll start now 🙃. So I'll pop in every so often with microfiction spurts that I've written for one reason or another.
This one is particular means a bit more than others because the main character is going to get his own full-length story in the coming months : )
Happy reading!

Faysal has always been the one to judge. The one to decide. But this... creature in front of him is claiming she knows his fate. As if the insignificant being would know such things.
For he is not one to be trifled with, no. Faysal has seen worlds come. And he has seen worlds go.
Yet he remains.
Persistent.
Inevitable.
Judgment.
And still, the clairvoyant in front of him has claimed that the one meant for only him, the one he will cherish for all time, was born this day.

My Second Release
Today my second self-published work, The Orc and the Receiver, released through Kindle Unlimited! And there were even pre-orders! I am so humbled by this, knowing that people want to read what I've written is an amazingly humbling experience.
This particular story is one I'm proud of - Dyana was a character that wouldn't leave me alone until I got her struggles written down and shared with the world. And our main leading orc man, Harug, is a big sweetheart who carried her to her happily ever after. I pushed two other WIP's back for this story, I couldn't help but get this one out there since inspiration struck so profoundly out of nowhere.
The writing journey is still very new to me and I'm not sure I'm making the best choices but it's been a hell of a ride so far. Marketing is by far the toughest part, I have no idea what I'm doing but playing around in Canva and Adobe Express is a blast! And all the support from other authors is amazing - everyone is so happy to lend advice.
Personally right now we have A LOT going on. We're planning to move in the coming summer months so we're busy getting our current house prepped while also trying to manage the new house search. And with how things are in the area we live we have to be FAST because your dream home can be gone in less than a few days, being snatched up by someone else.
Can't wait to finish up my next short story and share with everyone : )

The Thoughts of a Short-Story-Writing Indie Author
I honestly have no idea what I'm doing most of the time. But I do know I enjoy writing made up stories about made up creatures living made up lives. Oh yeah, and they always have a picture perfect end
