Battlefield of the Mind For Teens

Worry, doubt, confusion, depression, anger and feelings of condemnation: all these are attacks on the mind. If readers suffer from negative thoughts, they can take heart! Joyce Meyer has helped millions win these all-important battles. In her most popular bestseller ever, the beloved author and minister shows readers how to change their lives by changing their minds. She teaches how to deal with thousands of thoughts that people think every day and how to focus the mind the way God thinks. And she shares the trials, tragedies, and ultimate victories from her own marriage, family, and ministry that led her to wondrous, life-transforming truth--and reveals her thoughts and feelings every step of the way. This special updated edition includes an additional introduction and updated content throughout the book. The Author Joyce Meyer is one of the world's leading practical Bible teachers. A New York Times bestselling author, Joyce’s books have helped millions of people find hope and restoration through Jesus Christ. Through Joyce Meyer Ministries, she teaches on a number of topics with a particular focus on the mind, mouth, moods and attitudes. Her candid communication style allows her to share openly and practically about her experiences so others can apply what she has learned to their lives. Joyce has authored more than 100 books, which have been translated into more than 100 languages. She conducts close to a dozen domestic and international conferences every year, teaching people to enjoy their everyday lives. For more than 30 years, her annual women's conference has attracted well over 200,000 women from all over the world. Joyce’s passion to help hurting people is foundational to the vision of Hand of Hope, the missions arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries, which supports outreaches around the world, including her hometown of St. Louis.  Review Meyer writes a valuable and convincing primer on what Buddhists would call "mindfulness" from a dedicated Christian perspective. Using a rich scriptural context, she convinces listeners " to think what you are thinking about." Filled with many anecdotes from ministry, her points are made in a accessible and personable style. The psychology is sound though ensconced in conservative Christian language. Happily, Meyers encourages meditation, both on scripture and in prayer as a way to be in the moment. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition. Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/hlaf84g

~The Warble~The Bernovem Chronicles~ Book 1

Dwarfs, gnomes, fairies, talking animals, and an evil queen – all these and more can be found in The Warble, an enchanting tale of adventure and friendship. ~Over 145 Reviews~**on Amazon** Check out this one! This is a fantastic children's book for middle grade age range. I loved it!

Kristina Kingsley is a fantastic character. She may not be the most popular girl in school, but I actually liked her. She reminded me of me! I was never the popular girl either. However, where we differ is that she is a lot braver than me! She is given an unusual gift, and she finds herself on an adventure of a lifetime!

This is a fantastic children's fantasy novel! There are some wonderful characters in this book. The most likable of them are Clover and Looper (a pair of sibling fairies), Prince Werrien, and Kristina's pet rat, Raymond. This book is also filled with some really nasty characters. The main ones being Queen Sentiz and her gross Zelbocks. There are also enemies that turn into friends and friends who turn into enemies.
I was completely engrossed in this tale! It is full of danger and adventure! In a way, it reminded me of Tolken's Lord Of The Rings, as there is an object (the Warble) and a dangerous mission to deliver it to it's rightful place. I loved the subtle humour that the author used to great effect; it lightened the mood, so that the story didn't take a too dark a turn. The story is also told from several character's points of view, which gives a well rounded feel to the book and brought the characters alive. There are also some pictures sketched on a few selected pages to reinforce the story. These pictures are well drawn and show the characters just as described, and how I imagined them without the pictures!

Victoria Simcox has written an amazing children's adventure book! Her writing style is fast paced, but not overly so as to feel rushed. Her attention to detail with regards to the description of the characters, scenery and clothing is exceptional. I could "see" them so clearly in my minds eye! I am now looking forward to reading the sequel, The Shard!

I recommend this book to everyone (adults included) who love fairies, gnomes, dwarves and talking animals in their fantasy novels. - Lynn Worton http://bookreviewsbylynn.blogspot.co.uk/
Synopsis  Twelve-year-old Kristina Kingsly feels like the most unpopular girl in her school. The kids all tease her, and she never seems to fit in. But when Kristina receives an unusual Christmas gift, she suddenly finds herself transported to the land of Bernovem, home of dwarfs, gnomes, fairies, talking animals, and the evil Queen Sentiz.
In Bernovem, Kristina not only fits in, she’s honored as “the chosen one” the only one who can release the land from Queen Sentiz’s control. But it’s not as simple as it seems. To save Bernovem, she must place the gift she was given, the famous “Warble” in its final resting place. And she must travel through the deep forest, climb a treacherous mountain, and risk capture by the queen’s “zelbocks” before she reaches her destination. Guided by her new fairy friends, Clover and Looper and by Prince Werrien, a teenage boy, as well as an assortment of other characters, Kristina sets off on a perilous journey that not only tests her strength but her heart.

The Ugly Princess: The Legend of the Winnowwood

What would you give up to be beautiful? I don’t mean attractive, or pretty or any other term you could conjure up to describe that thing most women seek to be or most men seek to be with.

I mean staggeringly beautiful, men falling at your feet with hopeless adoration as they gaze upon you dumbfounded. That beautiful. I could become that beautiful if I chose, but only with a steep price. Would you pay the price? Does that call to your heart?

It doesn’t call to mine. Yes, when I look at the girl in the mirror, I see a young woman of average height and slight build. I see her lovely emerald green eyes and I see her coarse, orange hair poking out in all directions like some unnatural haystack.

I see the forty-seven warts that line her face, which accompany one large lump and two small boils. You’d probably think that I would be more than eager to trade for the great gift of beauty because I know some, if not all of you, would call me hideous. But I don’t think of myself as ugly.

I think of myself as powerful, strong and fierce – for I have magical powers – powers that amaze and terrify me at times. And today is the most important day of my life, because today my mother will say the words over me and seal my fate. For I, Olive, am the last of the Winnowwood and this is my story.

Based on the award winning screenplay of the same name, The Ugly Princess will take you on an amazing adventure filled with twists, turns and an ending that will take your breath away because it is also a love story of the most unusual, magical kind.

“In the tradition of The Princess Bride (with somewhat less whimsy) and The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, Smith’s debut is a fairy tale in a new world…. The twists along this charming road make for an enchanting journey.” -- Kirkus Reviews

READER REVIEWS:

Reading this book was an amazing experience. The story itself was breathtaking. I'll be honest, if you read this book you won't regret it. You'll fall in love with Olive and her friends, and you'll be glad to make their story a part of you. Marisol

This book was absolutely flawless...not one wrong step, and is therefore the first book I am awarding a 5 star rating in the Read4Review program. I absolutely loved the Olive character, her strength and unwavering faith are beautiful traits. Highly recommended read!! Virginie

WOW, just WOW! This book was amazing. For all the ugly talk about Princess Olive, I only saw beauty. Her thoughts, her actions, all that made her, all was truly beautiful.Kitlina

I won this book through Goodreads, and am speechless...Incredible. Awe-Inspiring. Beautiful. and full of Hope and Love. This novel blew me away! Sarah

I have nothing but love for this book!! It was amazing, simply said. I thought the premise was new, original and well thought out. Alexandra

I don't frequently come across books that just blow me away, but The Ugly Princess is one of the few books that did. The fact that this book stresses how talent surpasses beauty makes me love it even more! Long story short, this book is DEFINITELY my new favorite. Helen

I think that it doesn't matter if you are beautiful, ugly, or something in between, at some point every girl has an inner little voice that tells her she might not be good enough. And this story is more than an enchanting fairy tale about a magical ugly princess, it is a tale about finding true beauty within yourself, despite of what others may think. It's a story about what true love really is: seeing someone for their strengths, instead of their faults. I loved it and it brought me to tears. Raquel V  About the Author Henderson Smith I grew up as a military brat who traveled the world with my family. We moved 10 times before I was 12. Given that transient lifestyle, I had very few friends and I was quite shy. It always took some time to warm up to new surroundings and by the time I did, we were off to our next assignment. Books became my best friends and I lost myself to them. The wonderful adventures and magical realms of possibility were so appealing to my quiet existence. I really became a fan of fairy tales; I think most little girls do. It’s fun to think of yourself as having magical powers and living a magical life. As time went on, however, I became a bit disillusioned with fairy tales as all of the princesses who were the stars of the story were beautiful. I was not beautiful. Did that mean I was not entitled to have these amazing adventures because I did not have the right face? It always troubled me. As an adult, I finally wrote the fairy tale that I wanted to see: a magical princess who was brave and kind and amazing and smart, but not beautiful. In fact, she is rather ugly. But this ugly princess is the most amazing heroine and the one I had always wanted to read about. Now, you can. I hope you love the amazing Olive and the bravest princess whose heart is far more beautiful than anyone else’s face.  Amazom:

Love. It can kill a man.
About the Author

Brandon Varnell is a writer... the end.

... Just kidding.

Brandon Varnell is the writer of the American Kitsune series. He has absolutely no skill at anything aside from writing and looking half-baked. He used to play guitar, but due to laziness, he never went anywhere with it. He also used to play a lot of video games, but after suffering this terrible affliction called book addiction, he only plays occasionally these days. Brandon lives mostly within his own imagination, but can occasionally be found in Phoenix, Arizona.

For several years now - at least three - Brandon has dreamed of becoming a full-time author. He would love it if the time came when he could wake up, write several thousand words, and then call it a day. To reach this goal, he tends to write. A lot. He writes fan fiction, he writes original fiction, he writes Erotic fiction... oh, wait. No, he doesn't. He just writes stories with a lot of fan service.

Aside from being an avid writer, Brandon also likes to cosplay. You can generally find him at the local Comicon dressed as various characters from movies, video games and anime. It's also not all that unusual to find him walking around town in a red trench coat, no shirt and carrying a large sword on his back. Kudos to those of you who get the reference. His current favorite people to cosplay are Han Solo (who doesn't want to be a roguish smuggler?), Cloud Strife (he likes the big ass sword), Dante, and Squall Leonhart. He has also thought of trying to cosplay as Darth Vader or Zero (Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass), but has decided to stay away from all black cosplay since he lives in Arizona - it's really hot in that state, you know.

He also loves anime, which makes a lot of sense, seeing how the entire American Kitsune series is basically just one big anime parody.
