~Nari~
I pushed him back against the wall by his taut chest, never disconnecting my lips from his, and kissed him like I was starving for this one thing. Starving for him. And I so was. I couldn’t breathe, and I didn’t care. There was nothing else in this world but him and me, and I soaked it up like a dry sponge. He nipped my lip at the same time his hand savored the bare skin at the small of my back under my shirt. It sent a rush of blood to every nook and corner of my body, giving me a euphoric high. I pressed myself further against him, but it wasn’t enough. And I knew he felt the same when he slid his hands over my backside down to the inside of my thighs, picking me up off the ground. I instinctively wrapped my legs around his waist and let him lay me down along the cold, hard rock below. I wanted him. So badly, I wanted him. Desire pooled in my gut, just for him. And I could feel he wanted me just as badly. I grinned against his hot lips and suppressed a giggle—knowing the others were just an earshot away.

When everything else is lost, there is always hope.
While most teens want an epic senior year, Trinity Whitebone hoped for a normal one. Being seventeen was hard enough. Having the emotions of everyone around you in your head made life more than a little difficult.
Until Blain Heros enrolled.
He screamed hot-god in jeans with just his walk. His intense stare warmed her skin like a thousand suns. Unfortunately, his interest in her seemed to run from blazing to freezing in the span of moments and left her nothing but confused. She could deal with things not being normal, but when life goes from strange to dangerous…
Trinity is the direct descendant of Pandora and fated to rectify the terrors released into the world by her curious ancestor. With powers she didn’t know existed and abilities she never wanted, Trinity tries to walk away from everything her life had become.   Excerpt:
Over an hour into my work out on the elliptical, sweat covered my brow and a few curls had broken free from my elastic band, making them stick to the sides of my face and forehead. When I grabbed a towel to wipe the sweat away, my legs felt wobbly and weak. I bought a bottle of water from a vending machine and headed out.
In the parking lot, I saw the sky had darkened considerably, elongating the shadows. As I walked back to my car I realized the birds in the nearby trees slowly became silent.
Stopping, I scanned the street. Not a single person was out. Even the cool breeze when I left the gym had stilled, almost as though everything had frozen in time.
Without warning, my stomach rolled. Almost instantly I felt nauseous as the familiar dread of darkness surfaced inside of me. The force became so overwhelming I doubled over, gasping for air.
As I focused on breathing, deep guttural laughter echoed in the stillness nearby. My head snapped up, my eyes searching for the man in my dreams. My brain worked in overtime, wondering how my dreams had finally crossed the barrier into reality.
The laughter came again, only closer this time. He wanted me, wanted me to surrender the light of life to dwell in the darkness of death. My panic increased as my heart thundered in my chest. I couldn't think clearly.
A few feet away, a man appeared, though he looked more or less the same age as me. Tall, well built with chestnut hair stopping at the hard angle of his jaw, and his eyes as black as a raven's feather. He didn't look like the same person from my nightmares. Not that it mattered–his presence still terrified me.
His lips twisted into a sinister grin, a mixture of evil and pain so clear I could taste it on my tongue. I tried to ease my panic and think clearly, but just like in my nightmares, I was losing.
"Who are you and what do you want?" Much to my surprise, my voice stayed even.
"You don't know, do you?" He tilted his head to the side, watching me with amusement in his dark eyes. He slowly held a finger in the air and then began making circular movements. The motion created his own personal whirlwind, lifting the hair around his face.
He continued to walk toward me, controlling the wind with his finger. My panic increased; my insides felt like they were being stretched thin, ready to snap in half at any given second.
"What do you want?" This time my voice quivered at the end.
"You have got to be kidding me, right?" He shook his head. "This is easier than I thought it'd be." He must have read the perplexed look on my face because he started laughing–hard. I would've been offended had I not been so freaking scared.
His thoughts and emotions become stronger with each step he took, overpowering my ability to shut off the inner darkness wanting to be set free. I wasn’t sure which way was up or down, left or right, and it didn't matter.

       Teaser:

“Back? Where’ve you been?” Morpheus continued smiling at me.
“I’ve been asleep.” He glanced over his shoulder, scrunching his brows together and looked at Blain in confusion. “She isn’t very bright, is she?” He turned his attention back to me. I wanted to slap him.
Quotes:I wanted a normal life, but normal was as foreign to me as a super bowl ring is to Tony Romo.

Five days remain before the strand drains her magic and life, forcing Isabelle to enter into a deal with two trickster Masterminds to save it. Author L.J. Clarkson One thing you need to know about LJ Clarkson is that she tells BIG lies. She tells everyone that she gave up her career as an Environmental Engineer and Project Manager to write full time. But that's not entirely true. Ten percent of the time she sleeps in. Fifteen percent of her day, she spends surfing the internet, researching for new books and her business. Ok, fine. Two percent is for research. But she's only admitting it so she doesn't end up like Boldrick. For eighteen point seven five percent of her day, she runs her promotional and support site for authors, called Indicated (www.indicated.com.au). The rest of her time involves writing, reading, watching movies and TV, walking her dogs and falling asleep whenever her boyfriend talks technical computer lingo. Truthfully, she hates early mornings, mondays, grammar (yuck! just ask her poor editor!), broccoli and cleaning. If you would like to drop her and line and let her know what you think of the book, she would love to hear from you. Just not before 8:30am in the morning.
Facebook * Website * Twitter  Excerpt “Did you know Isabelle has a silver, alien antenna?” Bimouth’s voice sang out over the shouts and chatter of the school bus, capturing everyone’s attention. “In science class, a magnet flew out of Mr. Higgins’ hand and stuck to her antenna. How freaky is that?” Isabelle’s back pressed against her seat. Bianca leapt up like a jack-in-a-box. Her voice came out as a hiss. “Shut your face horse mite or I’ll shut it for you.” Looked like the bus ride might end in death. Bigmouth turned to face Bianca. “What if Isabelle’s antenna, like, turns us into alien zombies?” A chorus of whispers broke out. Catching the bus was a very bad idea. Isabelle prayed again for that black hole to open up and suck her in. Better yet, she wished it would gobble up the bigmouth. Isabelle tugged on Bianca’s arm and said in a low voice, “Just cut it off.” Her friend’s eyes softened. “You sure, Boof?” “The hair’s caused nothing but trouble since it sprouted.” The little voice inside Isabelle’s mind begged her not to, but she didn’t listen. “Ok.” Something in Bianca’s school bag rattled as she riffled through it. She yanked a pair of scissors free. Isabelle’s gut clenched as her friend laid the strand between the blades. “Wait!” She suddenly felt unsure about whether to get rid of it. What if it were special and magical like Bianca had said? A magnetic hair, although cool, was hardly magical. Isabelle decided to test it. Closing her eyes, she willed her strand to turn Bigmouth into a toad. But Bigmouth’s voice still carried throughout the bus. “And in gym class, like, she bled this weird, pink dust.” “Definitely an alien,” someone nearby agreed. So much for Isabelle’s strand being magical. “Cut it,” she said, exchanging a sideways look with Bianca. Her friend squeezed the handles together. Fuchsia-colored sparks shot out and scalded Isabelle’s right cheek. The strand sizzled and hissed like a firecracker, drawing the attention of Bigmouth. She shrieked like a real girl. “Look! Isabelle’s antenna’s on fire.”

About the Author: So who am I? Well, I'm the  crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies.  My friend Chazz laughs at me when I scare myself watching them and  tells me to stop watching them, but who doesn't love to get scared? I  grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West  Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees,  and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew  by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to  sleep.
Growing up in a small town, I learned a lot of values and  morals, I also learned parents have spies everywhere and there's always  someone to tell your mama on you. So when you get grounded, what is  there left to do? Read! My Aunt Jo gave me my first real romance novel.  It was a romance titled "Lord Margrave's Deception." I remember it  fondly. But I also learned I had a deep and abiding love of mysteries  and anything paranormal. As I grew up, I started to write just that and  would entertain my friends with stories featuring them as main  characters.
Now, I live Huntersville, NC where I entertain my  family and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly  when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach. The cats  start yelling something fierce...lol.
I love books, I love writing books, and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.

Excerpt:Excerpt from I Remember – Remembrance Series, Book 1By Cynthia P. O’Neill
-        Prologue
I wandered along a path as the sun began to set across the horizon, lighting the sky with deep hues of orange, purple and pinks.  I didn’t know where I was, but the countryside was simply breathtaking.  “Angeline, where are you?”  A familiar male voice called out. “Come find me, Daniel,” she announced playfully, in the distance.  Finding no one else around, I decided to head their way to ask for directions.             “Where are you hiding, my love?  You know I will find you; and when I do, I will smother you with kisses,” he responded, full of laughter.            Their voices led me to a beautiful meadow filled with spring flowers and the sound of a river in the distance.  They were dressed in Victorian fare, running playfully until Daniel caught the girl who must have been Angeline. They fell to the ground together, laughing, near a tall tree.            As I walked toward them, I watched Daniel lean in to kiss Angeline softly on the lips, her hands circling around his neck and pulling him closer.  I stopped in my tracks feeling like I had invaded a private moment, but I still needed directions in order to return home.               “Excuse me, I don’t mean to intrude but I could really use your help,” I stated softly, so not alarm them.              They continued, without even a glance my way.   How rude.  I cleared my throat loudly and spoke again, but no answer.            I was frustrated.  How could they not hear me?              Suddenly, the landscape began to twist and shift into something dark and evil.  I tried to turn and run but found myself unable to move.  My heart began beating erratically as fear set in.            A tall figure appeared before me with ghostly shadows swirling and moaning around it.  It was dressed in the darkest cloak I’d ever seen, with the hood draped in such a way as to cast shadows across the few visible areas of the face, making it impossible to see who or what it was.               An arm rose revealing long willowy fingers, aged and deformed and pointed at me.  A sadistic female voice bellowed, “I warn you.  Do not seek him out!  The prophecy must not come to pass.  If you defy me, I will make your life a living hell, taking all that you hold dear.”  That’s when the figure’s head tilted up and her glowing red eyes locked onto mine, sending a chill down my spine.  Then the shadows began to swirl around my body, suffocating me.“STOP!”  The scream came from nowhere, catching me by surprise.  “LEAVE HER ALONE!”  This time I recognized a man’s voice. One of the shadows grabbed my arm and a piercing, “NOOOO” sounded, from deep within my chest, echoing off all that was around me.  My eyes shot open, as I bolted upright in bed.  I looked around and realized I was in my bedroom.  I reached for the light. Turning it on, I tried to catch my breath.  My only thought was that the dreams were back and they were worse.  I’d seen a witch spirit previously, but not to this extent.  Wrapping my arms around my chest to calm myself, I felt a sharp pain on my right arm.  I looked down to see the reddened hand print, where the dark shadow had grabbed me, slowly fading from existence.  What the heck?

                                   Midnight Masquerade

Stavos Voronin was not as blind-eyed as many nobles and royals. Evony’s physical gestures—even the simplest movement of her hands—revealed that she had not always been destitute. The same was true of the children—of their polished manners and the boy’s knowledge of horses and tendency to be bold and fearless of strangers. Ah yes, Stavos enjoyed a good mystery. After all, interest in the inexplicable circumstances surrounding the royals of Abawyth was the very thing that had lured him to the kingdom—the enigma of Abawyth’s twelve sleepy princesses. And yet now—now his mind was all the more intrigued. Not only was the obscurity of what had caused the profound and baffling torpidity of Abawyth’s princesses laid out before him, but also he found his curiosity intensely piqued over the riddle surrounding the very lovely Evony and her siblings. As Stavos strode through the village resting on the outskirts of Abawyth Castle, his mind reeled with possibilities. His musings were drawn back to why he had come to Abawyth at all—to solve the conundrum surrounding the twelve beautiful princesses of Abawyth kingdom—to solve the seemingly impenetrable crux and thereby win the hand of one of Abawyth’s princesses, as his father, King Letholdus of Ethiarien, had commanded.

Book Review & Blog Hop

Welcome to the Kid Lit Blog Hop #22

Get ready to set sail with Erik Burks and his new friends, Starry and Stormy, (the twins) as they head out to sea on an unforgettable adventure.

Erik's parents have split up, and that's why Erik and his mom have gone to live with his aunt in South Carolina. This being the case, all Erik wants to do is go back to Texas and reunite with his crush, Diana, as well as his baseball buddies. When the twins talk him into venturing out in a canoe to check out some strange lights at a lighthouse, little does he know what is in store for him—strange phenomenon—like in ghosts, and not just human ghosts but a cat ghost to boot.

Beverly Stowe McClure has done a superb job in writing this action packed story. It involves entering a spooky lighthouse, encountering the paranormal, sailing on the sea in a dangerous storm, and much more. Mingled in between all of this are teens trying to relate to dead people from centuries ago, as well as Erik having to deal with his concerned mom, who has no idea that he and the twins are without parental supervision (other than the adult ghosts) on the turbulent sea.

Having a thirteen-year-old son myself, I am very familiar with this age, and all I can say is hats off to Ms. McClure for an awesome job on creating the teen characters and perfecting their age appropriate dialog—definitely current, up to date, and a lot of fun to read.

I recommend this book to tweens, teens and adults. It is definitely a nonstop page-turner.

Synopsis One:Owen Ryer thought he was normal.  He thought his life was boring.  A walk into a pawnshop in eighth grade showed him that his life was a lie.  Two years later Owen has accepted how far from normal he really is.  He has a special gift, granting him the ability to see dark energy in the objects around him.  Now he’s part of a secret society where people like himself help others and fight the dark watchers who want them for their powers.Owen has discovered that a Secret Watcher does not have to live his life alone.  He knows that he can expand his powers by working with other watchers but what will the price be?  Darkness is growing and evil thinks it has found its new prince in Owen.  They will stop at nothing to get to him even if it means kidnapping, mind-control or murder.  Owen must do more than fight; he must use his wits and every ability he has at his disposal to hold the growing darkness at bay.  Who knew high school could be more challenging than football, homework and relationships?  The dark side knows… and they’re watching.

Synopsis Two:Lauren Klever is the author of the young adult series, The Secret Watchers.  She graduated from both Oregon State and Portland State University with degrees in education.  Lauren found writing to be just another way to reach her students.  She’s passionate about sharing her love of reading and writing with them.
The Pacific Northwest, with its vivid and varied panoramas is where Lauren makes her home.  When she’s not writing, she can be found working with students, reading, gardening or hiking around Mt. Hood, the Columbia River Gorge and the Oregon Coast.  Watch out for the lady with the camera, it may be Lauren scouting out the perfect shot for her next cover.

I’ve always been a writer but let me tell you, it’s lots more fun when I can make the choices about where a story is going.  I’m also a teacher so I get that we have to have students meet certain criteria, but as a kid... I hated being told what to write.  The good side of growing up is that you can write whatever you want.  The down side... Now I can’t read it without my glasses!
My Secret Watchers series is about young Owen Ryer who discovers he has a special talent for seeing the darker side of life.  The things he is driven to do are not only dangerous but have to be kept a secret.  I sat down with my boys and began brainstorming based on some of our favorite characters from literature.  Wizards, vampires, werewolves, and the son of a god had already been done... so what was left?  Hello, special ability!  Mix in some unique features, some good friends, a strong mentor, helpful adults and voilà, I hope a star is born!  I’ve never been bitten by the writing bug with such vengeance and book one was completed in only six weeks!  Ten weeks later book two was complete and I’m now finishing book three and at work on book four with plans for five books in the series.
Personally, I’m drawn to all things ‘action-adventure’ in film and literature.  Notice I didn’t say ‘real life’?  No bungee jumping, cliff diving or parkour for me.  I’d likely kill myself as I’m a klutz.  Skydiving? Nope!  I’d be the one to fall out of the plane without a parachute.  My oldest and I have taken karate together and I’ve spent hours watching both boys participate in a variety of sports, including parkour, without incident, unless of course you count occasional broken toes.  I have created a character who is much braver, tougher and more graceful than I am.
It’s my wish that you, the reader, have at least half as much fun and connection to these characters as I have as I wrote them!  These books are for my family, friends, students and mentors.  Big hugs for you all!  We can be better – together!  Relax, enjoy and dream big!  Only you know what your tomorrows can hold!
