I’m finally getting back into the writing groove though, andclearing out 2014 (and *gulp* 2013) e-mailsin pursuit of Inbox Zero and a fresh start on things. I came across a link to this video from my first post-Spud author event, a panel at Haverford High School Library with Marie Lamba and Ellen Jensen Abbot. We talk a lot about wri...

book recommendation: Now That You’re Here

In a parallel universe, the classic bad boy falls for the class science geek.

One minute Danny was running from the cops, and the next, he jolted awake in an unfamiliar body–his own, but different. Somehow, he’s crossed into a parallel universe. Now his friends are his enemies, his parents are long dead, and studious Eevee isnotthe mysterious femme fatale he once kissed back home. Then again, this Eevee–a girl who’d rather land an internship at NASA than a date to the prom–may be his only hope...

books vs. babies!

me_and_rPeople sometimestalk aboutbooks as if they arebabies, raised by the author and ultimately sent into the world to make their fortunes. We even wishauthors a “happy book birthday” on their publication day! In the last month, I’ve been thinking about the similarities and differences between “book babies” and actual babies, since I’m in the position to compare the twodirectly;as it happens (as it was meant to happen), my new book and ourfirst babywere both scheduled to debutin the first week of N...

libraries are awesome

I’m thrilled to be participating in PA Forward’s Speak Up for PA Librariesevents today with some school visits in Haverford! School and local libraries made me the readerI am, because there was no way my momcould afford to buy me all the books I wanted to read. It was through libraries that I discovered William Sleator’s Interstellar Pig, whichintroduced me to the science fiction books that influenced me as a person, and eventually as a writer. (I know:Writers are technically people too.)
