CHASING THE RUNAWAY BRIDE
I love stories with odd characters. Not idiots. LOL Just people who are a little more interesting than everybody else.
Which is why I was so curious about what it would be like to be a runaway bride. I figured running out on one wedding might be considered prudent. But if my character had run out on two weddings, in a small town, she'd be considered...crazy.
But I found her to be very interesting. Piper O'Riley's dad lost the family business in a poker game the year before Piper was born. So she didn't know life as a normal kid. She was Poor Piper, her dad lost the family business.
So she spent her entire life working to have people see her as normal, but as a result she picked all the wrong guys to date. She chose the normal, stable guys, and in the end she just couldn't seal the deal.
This makes her the perfect match for Cade Donovan...a guy who had left her best friend at the altar. They're both just a tad different than everyone else. Cade's dad beat him, his brothers and their mom, so he's also very careful about who he talks to, who he makes a friend.
But it isn't until they are really honest with each other that they can find happiness...and sometimes, when you're accustomed to pretending it doesn't matter that your dad gambled away his livelihood or pretending there's nothing wrong at home...being honest is the hardest thing to do.
