Today brings another new release for me – it certainly has been a busy couple of months! Today's release comes from Noble Romance and is a very hot m/f/f menage tale called A Menu with a Difference.
Here's the blurb:

eBook Review: Familiar Light by Sarah Ballance
Familiar Light by Sarah Ballance is classed as a sensual romance, but also has a healthy dollop of suspense thrown in for good measure. Part of the Timeless Desire range of books (I reviewed one by KevaD here) from Noble Romance, Ballance gives us a very tense, sensual read.
Familiar Light tells the story of Laney Kent, a girl who left her hometown of Barrier Shoals to go to college. She promised her first love, Bridger Jansen, that she would return – and she does, but by the time she does, it's seven years later. Understandably, Bridger is not impressed and gives her a chilly reception, despite being secretly thrilled to see her – he's never loved anyone else.
Determined to make amends, Laney sticks around. However, when she's the victim of an attack, it seems that someone is really not happy with Laney's return to Barrier Shoals. But who? And why?
This is the first title from Sarah Ballance that I've read, but it definitely won't be the last. Ballance does a brilliant job with the longing, emotion and tension in this book and I found it a real page turner. She is also mistress of the cliffhanger – meaning I hope there's a sequel in the works!
Overall, if you enjoy sensual, action-packed reads, then you should definitely get your hands on a copy of Familiar Light.

Six Sentence Sunday – 13/11/11
[image error]Here are six sentences from my m/f erotic romance story Love Through Time, from Noble Romance.
Also, to comment on this post, it's the link at the top ^^ – not the bottom. Thanks guys!
Most of them seemed in no hurry to leave, stopping to make comments to the woman at the door, thanking her for a lovely visit and so on. Emily waited patiently to the side, allowing the patrons to leave before attempting to enter. When the staff member—most likely a volunteer, Emily thought—caught sight of her, she gave her a polite nod of acknowledgment.
Finally, the last of Westbury Hall's visitors moved out, leaving Emily free to enter. Climbing the single, stone step to the threshold, she took the hand already offered her.
Shaking Emily's hand with a surprising firmness, the woman said, "You must be Miss Stone."

Weekend Dirty Dozen No. 4 #WD12
It's week four of Weekend Dirty Dozen, which I found via their Facebook page, here. Rather than carry on with the story I shared last week, I wanted to do something different, in honour of the very special date.
As I'm sure you know, today is Remembrance Day (that's what we call it in the UK). Wherever you're from, whatever it's called to you, it means the same to us all. So in honour of that, I'm going to share twelve sentences from an erotic anthology I put together last year, called Uniform Behaviour. As my way of saying thanks, a proportion of the proceeds from this book go directly to UK charity Help for Heroes, which provides help for returning servicemen and women who've been injured at war.
I'm not going to say any more as I don't want to get maudlin, so without further ado, here's dozen from my story in the anthology, entitled Just Couldn't Wait.
Carla was pissed off. She'd made an awful lot of effort for this event, and it was totally bombing. As a freelance journalist, you never know when you'll need a favour, so Carla had dressed up and attended in order to keep everyone happy. The evening was the launch of some perfume or another – it was basically an excuse for a glitzy party and some networking. Unfortunately, though, it wasn't doing anything for Carla, networking or otherwise.
Hell, the party was posh enough. There was plenty of food and drink to go around, but the company sucked. All the fun people clearly had better things to do this evening. Which is why Carla was displaying behaviour most unlike her; she was being a wallflower. There were hardly any people around that she knew, and the ones she did know, she didn't particularly like.
Lurking in the corner, she observed. Not that there was much to look at.

eBook Review: Diamonds and Toads: A Modern Fairy Tale by K. E. Saxon
Do not be fooled by this book's innocent looking cover. A modern fairy tale it may be, but innocent it is not. I knew this book was a romance, obviously, but from the cover and the blurb I was sent (I notice the blurb on Amazon mentions sexual heat), I wasn't expecting the level of eroticism that's in it. Naturally, this isn't a bad thing for me as I love to read erotica, I was just surprised by it.
The premise is a fairly familiar one, that is, it's a twist on the fairy tales we know and love. There's a good sister and a bad sister, an evil stepmother and a fairy godmother. But that's where the similarities to classic tales ends.
Diamonds and Toads tells the story of half sisters Delilah and Isadora, who are good and evil, respectively. Without giving too much away, both sisters have an encounter with a fairy within this book. The fairy blesses Delilah with wealth and the man she's loved for as long as she can remember, and bestows a curse on Isadora which makes her come out with obscene and humiliating comments, whether she means them or not. To make it worse, the man that Isadora has long held a torch for comes back into her life just as the curse is placed on her.
So it seems that life is going swimmingly for Delilah, but of course it wouldn't be much of a story if everything was straightforward. As the tale progresses, it becomes apparent that both Delilah and Chas have secrets. Ones that could tear them apart. On the other hand, it looks as though Isadora and Sam may get their happy ever after, but there's just the matter of her evil mother…
I thought Diamonds and Toads was a good fun read. All the fairy tale elements are very tongue in cheek and made for a light-hearted, feel-good book. Like I mentioned before, I wasn't expecting the erotic elements, but they were very welcome and extremely hot! There were some seriously sexy scenes in the book, including some BDSM. So, if you're looking for a pure chick-lit/fairy-tale read which doesn't get too steamy, then perhaps this isn't for you. But if you enjoy reading erotica and erotic romance, then snap this book up like a shot. It's well-written, pacy, sexy fun, and I'd definitely look out for more by this author.

Guest Blog: K.E. Saxon
Good morning, readers! Today I thought I'd share my journey to creating my contemporary reworking of the fairy tale romance, Diamonds &Toads, but first, let me give you a short description of the story:
Inspired by the Gordon Laite illustrations in my childhood book, My Little Golden Book of Fairy Tales, and with a nod to the 17th century author of the fairy tale, Charles Perrault, DIAMONDS & TOADS is a modern take on the tale of the same name, but with more emphasis on the love story. Crossing genres between hot/steamy contemporary, comedy, and fantasy romance, it is written in two parts, the first concentrating on the "good" Perrault sister, who is blessed by the family fairy with a fortune from diamonds and an engagement to the man of her dreams, while the second concentrates on the "bad" Perrault sister, her curse (her every utterance an obscene and humiliating quip), and her "frogman" ex-lover. In both parts, the fairy's often comical appearances and maneuverings serve to further the plots to their "happily-ever-after" conclusions.
For those not familiar with the original fairy tale on which my modern take is based, it's the story of two sisters, one gentle and kind, the other selfish and cross, each of whom encounters a fairy in disguise, first a beggar woman and then a fine lady. The gentle sister is kind to the beggar woman and is blessed with diamonds and roses tripping from her mouth each time she speaks, while the selfish sister is rude to the fine lady and is cursed with toads and serpents flying from her mouth each time she speaks.
When I decided to try my hand at reworking a fairy tale, it only took a moment for me to decide upon Toads & Diamonds (a.k.a. Diamond & Toads). Firstly, because it is not a fairy tale that has been redone often, and secondly, because it also happens to be one of my favorites from childhood. The romance is already in place, one only had to expand on the story to develop and show each character's arc in order to get each character to her (and his) happily-ever-after conclusion.
As a person who enjoys the glittery, fairyland-like Disney versions of fairy tales, and also as a person who doesn't actually believe in fairies (but who wishes with all her heart and soul there really were fairy godmothers), it was a no-brainer that I would write the story as a comic, light, sexy romp set in the real world of modern times, with the fairy playing matchmaker. I wanted the magic to be part of the storyline in the same way that Samantha Stevens' magic was part of the storyline in Bewitched.
I wrote the "bad" sister's story first—actually, only ever intended to write that story—it wasn't until after I'd put Isadora's story to bed that my muse began to taunt me to round the story out with the "good" sister's story as well. In fact, I'd already begun plotting and working on another contemporary romance, when one morning I awoke with the idea that the good sister should actually have a secret "bad girl" vice of being a dominatrix!
After that idea took hold, I couldn't ignore the urge any longer to write her story as well.
My only problem was that I needed somehow to mesh the fact that Delilah is a good, gentle, biddable soul with her secret vice. I knew that her arc needed to be learning to stand up for herself, and I knew that being a dominatrix was the pinnacle of showing that she could do such, however, how to put the two together? Thankfully, during a brainstorming session with my wonderful critique partner, she suggested the idea that the domme thing be a means of learning to assert herself. That was the key that unlocked the whole story for me and after that, the rest of Delilah's story fell into place. Now I had the conservative, wealthy, socially prominent hero who needs money fast, serendipitously having the opportunity to become engaged to Delilah just when the fairy's magic starts to work and she's made millions in diamond stocks. Boy, is he shocked when he discovers her dirty little secret. The shock soon turns to fascination and then the sparks really start to fly, both in and out of bed.
For Isadora, the "bad" sister, I needed something 'real world' to represent the toads and lizards spewing from her mouth each time she speaks. Inspiration struck with the idea that she be cursed with the inability to control her speech, with having every utterance be of a humiliating and inflammatory nature. I had a great time coming up with things for her to spout against her will. I also wanted to redeem her. I thought, "What would drive a young woman to be so image-conscious and self-involved?" Well, a mother who rides her to fit in and constantly reminds her she's better than all her peers, for one thing. So what type of hero would create the most tension to a woman who is an image-conscious social climber and force her to embrace the person she really is deep down inside?" Why, a guy who lives on an old houseboat, is more comfortable in jeans and flip flops than designer clothes, and who is not even remotely interested in "society". In fact, as a marine biologist, Sam is in his element out on the ocean for months on end. Add in the fact that she dumped him years before because her mother didn't think him suitable, and that her mother actually wanted her to snag her half-sister's new fiancé instead, and you've got a real pressure cooker of conflict and angst when Sam shows up unexpectedly at the engagement party.
Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed learning a little about how I developed my characters and the story.
Thank you so much, Lucy, for inviting me to post here today!

Once upon a time, there were two sisters, one blessed, and one cursed by fairy magic…
So each sister's story begins.
Delilah Perrault is blessed with riches beyond her wildest dreams and the man she's had her eye on for ages–even though he secretly has designs on her newfound wealth instead. Delilah's half-sister, Isadora, is cursed with having her every utterance come out as an obscene and humiliating quip, just when the gorgeous hunk she dumped years before under pressure from mama swaggers back into her life.

Guest Blog: KevaD
I'd like to welcome KevaD as my guest as part of the Noble Romance Authors "Timeless Desire" blog tour. Take it away, KevaD…
Hello!
I'm KevaD, and I really want to thank Lucy for sharing her blog with me today. But most of all, I want to thank you for taking the time to stop by.
I'll be giving away a $10.00 Noble Romance Publishing gift certificate to a random commenter, so don't hesitate to leave a thought or two.
Here's my official Noble Romance Publishing bio:
KevaD is David "DA" Kentner, prolific author of romance, suspense, horror, fantasy, and winner of American Mensa, Ltd's Calliope magazine 18th annual fiction competition. His weekly column "The Readers' Writers" in which he interviews famous and soon-to-be-famous authors appears in newspapers across the country.
When not writing, shoveling snow or mowing their 5 acres outside Freeport, IL, he's trying to explain to his wife the TV has more than SOAP and GAME channels, and pizza really is a necessary and required food group.

Lucy suggested I talk about something, but didn't offer a single damn suggestion. So, here is a topic near and dear to many of us:
Are video trailers effective?
Two years ago The Wall Street Journal asked that very question.
To no one's surprise, the answer was a resounding 'probably not' – "There is scant evidence . . . that the average book trailer actually has much impact on book sales."
Consider this; you watch a trailer on YouTube and are interested in the book. Can you click on the trailer to buy the book? No. Read the back cover blurb? No. Read an excerpt? No. Click a link to the author or publisher's web sites and bookstore? No.
In fact, you have to note the title, author, and in many cases, the publisher, in order to locate where the book is available for purchase.
Not to mention… how did you find the trailer on YouTube to start with?
That's right – you probably didn't. Unless you linked to it from an author or publisher's site that provided all the other information anyway. In which case, you no doubt clicked on the trailer for no reason other than to watch it – entertainment.
As yet, there is no credible method of tracking the impact of book trailers on the average consumer. However, publishers and authors are feeling the need to provide trailers to those very potential customers. Because, after all, many trailers are well-done and quite enjoyable to watch.
Which brings us back to the original question – does the trailer aid in your decision as to which book to buy?
That's what I hope you'll share with us today. Please leave a comment and tell us if book trailers weigh in your decision about buying a book.
Now I'll answer one of my own questions. Can a book trailer impact which book you buy or read?
The answer is a resounding "Yes!" But not in the manner you're thinking.
Book trailers are a marketing tool – another method of getting a product to consumers. Enter the marketing specialists, such as Circle of Seven Productions.
For a set fee, companies like cosproductions.com will put an author's trailer in front of 300+ booksellers and 5,000+ libraries – the primary purchasers of books.
That's correct. Book trailers have added a whole new chapter to the concept of book catalogs.
Does the book trailer ensure the book is well-written or will sell well? Not any more than spiffy cover art can guarantee sales. But it can catch a bookseller or library purchasing agent's eye. Catching the client's attention is still the salesman's proverbial foot in the door.
By the way, Circle of Seven noted on a blog that links to a site where your book is for sale can be implanted with your trailer: "You can indeed make a live link from YouTube. You need to put the http:// in front of the www. in the description area."
I haven't tried it. Nor am I promoting Circle of Seven. I needed information regarding trailer marketing, and I stumbled across cosproductions.com. Don't know how effective or efficient they are at what they do.
So, while I still don't know if the videos I create are effective marketing tools, I sure do enjoy making them. And I hope you enjoy watching them at my web site http://www.kevad.net/ and on Youtube.
How did you start writing erotica?
The critiquing group ERAuthors accepted me into their fold. They corrupted an otherwise innocent child. I was a literary virgin. It's all their fault.
Do you use a pen name? Why? And if yes, how did you choose it?
KevaD is my real name Dave K backwards (David Kentner). For me, knowing I was to have my first book published, a gay romantic comedy, was a bit terrifying. After two years of failure, I was actually going to see my work published. The whole event was like walking through a looking glass. The name just seemed appropriate. Besides, most people can't remember or spell "Kentner."
Where's your favourite place to write?
My only place to write is at my desk in a back corner of the living room. When my wife thinks it's time I show her some attention, she cranks up the volume on the TV. Irritating, but quite effective.
Who is your favourite character from one of your stories and why?
Mike from "Out of the Closet" and "Back in the Closet." Mike's genuine. He possesses no frills, no pretences – he is who he is, and doesn't know any other way to be. He sees only right and wrong, and though he doesn't always know the best way to handle a situation, his heart and motives are never in question. And he loves Chaz to death, and would follow him to the ends of the earth.
Mike can also climb telephone poles – upside down. That ability is based on a man I knew who used to that for beers.
Which author, erotic or otherwise would you love to meet and why?
Dr. Ervin Laszlo, author of "Simply Genius: And Other Tales from My Life." A child prodigy, he played piano with a symphony orchestra at age nine. He is the holder of the highest degree of the Sorbonne (the State Doctorate), four honorary Ph.D.s and numerous awards and distinctions, including the 2001 Goi Peace Award (the Japanese Peace Prize) and the 2005 Assisi Mandir of Peace Prize. He has authored or contributed to more than 80 books and is a two-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee. A former professor of philosophy, systems theory, and futures studies in the U.S., Europe, and the Far East, Laszlo is founder and president of an international think tank (the Club of Budapest), as well as the General Evolution Research Group.
With all this man has accomplished, he remains humble, seemingly ordinary, yet his genius and effect on the world we live in may never be truly known or understood. He'd invited me to meet with him for coffee in New York once – I live in Illinois – but logistics and time didn't permit my traveling there.
I'm nobody special, just a guy who had interviewed Dr. Laszlo once by email for the release of his autobiography. But that's Dr. Laszlo's nature, a genuinely nice man who sees humankind as equals. If I have any regrets at all in my life, not being able to share that cup of coffee with this man would be it.

I have two books that were released as part of the Timeless Desire Line.
Blurbs:
"Desire Damned": Satan wants the warrior Taka to bow before him. But Taka bows to no one except his gentle lover Har.
For thousands of years the two men have been doomed to a life of torment. While one walks the earth, the other suffers under the devil's lash. Their only respite is an occasional night; a random, beautiful, love-filled night, knowing that with the dawn one of them must die in battle and return to Satan's wrath.
On the war-torn fields of Gettysburg the two lovers are reunited once again. But this time something beyond Hell's reach has happened. Something so wondrous, Satan may finally get his wish.
*****
"A Dance with Bogie and Bacall": Radio DJ Scott Kincaid's first caller of the night is a lady who died forty-nine years ago. The second wants to knock his head off. And he thought falling in love would be easy.
Maureen and Frank Johnson shared the kind of romance most people believe only exists in movies. Until a ballroom fire took Maureen's life.
Franci Johnson grew up hearing her grandparents' love story a thousand times and wishes to find the kind of undying love Frank and Maureen had once upon a time.
DJ Scott Kincaid just wants the ghost following him to go away. But Maureen thinks the hunky DJ might be just the answer to her granddaughter's dreams.

Guest Blog: Sarah Ballance
I'd like to welcome my first guest as part of the Noble Romance Authors "Timeless Desire" blog tour, Sarah Ballance. Take it away, Sarah…
Do you use a pen name? Why? And if yes, how did you choose it?
I do! I used to write nonfiction, so when I eased into fiction I went with a pen name so as not to confuse the two versions of myself, LOL. Sarah is my real name, and Ballance is a family name on my husband's side. I wanted to keep his name in some way, so that worked out as a great way to do so.
What's your favourite published work of yours and why?
Right now, I'd have to give the honor to my new romantic suspense, UNFORGIVEN. I'm a new author—and never even wanted to be an author, at that—but I fell fast and hard for the suspense genre. I'm easing into deeper, more intricate plots with each new manuscript. As such, UNFORGIVEN was a bit of a turning point for me—I really dove in with it and pushed myself out of my comfort zone. My reward has been fantastic reviews, and I've got to say it feels great!
What was your ideal career when you were a child?
When I was younger—elementary school aged—I wanted to be a teacher. When I got older I wanted to be an equine veterinarian and actually double-majored in biology and biochemistry in college. My husband and I married when I was 19 (he's 3.5 years older than me) and we knew from the beginning we wanted to have a large family and homeschool. To that end, I skipped out on vet school in favor of being a full time wife and mom to a brood which now numbers SIX. With homeschooling, I guess I ended up being a teacher after all! ;c)
How do you get yourself in the mood to write?
I used to really struggle with this, and if I wasn't in the mood I didn't write. Now, I write whether I'm in the mood or not, and more often than not the mood shows up! I have found, however, it's advantageous to have background noise—not so much for the noise itself, but to drown out what my kids are doing elsewhere in the house! LOL.
What are you working on at the moment?
I'm finishing up TIDE OF LIES, a novel-length partner to FAMILIAR LIGHT. As soon as that's all gussied up, I'm digging back in to my new Packing Heat series with the second title, LAST CALL. Readers of the first books will get to know Holden and Maverick in these second titles, but every story stands alone so there's no need to start at the beginning . . . although I'd love for you to! I have four titles planned in the Packing Heat series, with plenty of room for more once I get the fourth written.
On this post, Sarah is giving away a $5 Noble gift card to a random commenter, so don't forget to leave a comment for your chance to win. Then hit the rest of the tour to increase your chances of bagging some fab prizes!

AUTHOR BIO
Sarah lives a charmed life as the mother of six incredible homeschooled children, all of whom are completely adorable when they're asleep. Her husband of many years (long, long years, he calls them) is the kind of guy who could teach those heroes from the books a thing or two about romance, not that he'd readily admit it. Completely supportive of her love for writing fiction, he's generously offered to help with any necessary research for "the good parts." She's never had to ask twice.
Although writing romance and romantic suspense initially intimidated Sarah, it has morphed into a favorite pastime since her characters, unlike her kids, actually listen to her … er, sometimes.

One look into those achingly familiar blue eyes and she knows how wrong she was to let him go, but now far more than their heated past stands in the way. Six Sentence Sunday – 06/11/11
[image error]Here are six sentences from my m/f erotic romance story Love Through Time, from Noble Romance.
Also, to comment on this post, it's the link at the top ^^ – not the bottom. Thanks guys!
Emily received some strange looks and frowns from the people she passed as she walked across the graveled drive toward the front entrance of Westbury Hall. She could appreciate their confusion. It was closing time for the stately home, and the last of the visitors were being politely ushered out of the building, yet she was heading inside. She'd been invited. She had a job to do.
An elderly lady stood in the porch, smiling and nodding as she held the door open for those departing the hall.
