S.C. Chin is an author from a small town in North Carolina. They were born to a Cambodian immigrant family in the United States and their writing is significantly influenced by their mother's experiences during the Khmer Rouge and her displays of familial affection.

During their childhood, they enjoyed playing video games, reading comics, and watching cartoons. Along with two of their seven siblings, they would create stories about the adventures of their beloved franchises.

Chin later explored their creativity in various fields such as music, architecture, animation, and storytelling. They started experimenting with animation and music creation for YouTube, but after two years, they barely had success.
