Did you know? Fascinating Facts - Missing Persons

In Fatal Catch, number 12 in the Horton series, a Dr Carolyn Grantham shows up claiming to be attached to the University of Portsmouth Centre for the Study of Missing Persons researching into missing persons cases. She wants background information about Jennifer from Horton. He is loath to give it, not only because he finds it hard to talk about his feelings surrounding Jennifer’s disappearance and his time spent in care, but because he is also not sure who he can trust.



So here is some background on the missing persons units and some facts I uncovered during my research.

What's on in September 2017

As this September is quiet for radio interviews and talks it means I can concentrate on writing but for this blog entry I thought I'd share some memories with you (as they say on Facebook) by taking a quick look back to see what was happening a year ago in September 2016 and two years ago in September 2015. On location with DI Andy Horton in Fatal Catch

Fatal Catch, is the twelfth in the Inspector Andy Horton series (currently 13) and like all my crime novels it is set against the atmospheric backdrop of the sea on the South Coast of England.



Horton's patch is Portsmouth and the Solent across to the Isle of Wight and into the harnours of Langstone, Fareham and sometimes Chichester. The Solent offers up every kind of sailing vessel you could wish for from giant container ships to ferries, naval ships to leisure craft, fishing boats and even a regular hovercraft service. It also offers up some rather gruesome findings as Horton investigates in Fatal Catch.

The story behind Fatal Catch, a DI Andy Horton crime novel

Fatal Catch, is the twelfth in the Inspector Andy Horton series (currently 13) and like all my crime novels it is set against the atmospheric backdrop of the sea on the South Coast of England.



The sea has always held a fascination for me, probably because I was raised in the coastal city of Portsmouth with its vibrant waterfront, its great contrasts of modern and historic, its diverse multicultural population, its international port, its historic dockyard, fishing fleet and the home of the Royal Navy.



Portsmouth Harbour is one of the busiest in the World and the Solent offers up every kind of sailing vessel you could wish for from giant container ships to ferries, naval ships to leisure craft, fishing boats and even a regular hovercraft service. It also offers up some rather gruesome findings.

A Killing Coast, like all the DI Andy Horton crime novels, is set against the atmospheric backdrop of the sea in the Solent on the South Coast of England - in the waterfront city of Portsmouth and the surrounding towns, and the stunning coastal locations of the Isle of Wight.

The story behind A Killing Coast, an Inspector Andy Horton crime novel

Locations are always a great inspiration for me and trigger ideas for many of my crime novels particularly those in the series featuring my flawed and rugged Portsmouth copper, Inspector Andy Horton.



For number seven in the Horton crime series, A Killing Coast, I was first inspired by the beautiful and rugged coastline on the east of the Isle of Wight, in particular the stretch from Ventnor to St Catherine’s lighthouse which takes in the rocky Woody Bay, a good place to put a body!
