Adventures in Theatre - part 2
After a productive writing session over the weekend, I now have about 43 minutes of script done. My deadline for a first draft is December 11th so only 17 to go!
I noticed yesterday that my characters were talking about something they had heard on the wireless. This might have been slightly embarrassing as the British Broadcasting Company wasn't set up until October 1922, with the first broadcast from London on 14th November of that year. My play is set in January 1919 and is not about time travel.
It was only a few lines of dialogue and easily changed; I am glad I noticed it now instead of during a read through!

Adventures in Theatre
My writing this year seems to be heading off in new and exciting directions.
Scriptography Productions PlayPen 2018-19 project aims to help Ceredigion based writers develop full length theatre plays. Following an open call for submissions, I was one of eight writers chosen to participate. The first 20 minutes will be performed in front of an audience - Monday 15th October 2018 in the National Library of Wales.
Now all I have to do is write the rest - no pressure there then ;)

Motivation (or lack of it)
I am having a serious problem with motivation at the moment - output has nosedived. Things were all going so well. I reached 10,000 words on a current work in progress well ahead of schedule and then ground to a 'I really can't be bothered' halt.
A research trip to Tywyn next week might get me back on track. I am working on a crime novel set there but don't really need any excuse to visit my favourite seaside town in mid-Wales.
Hopefully things will get better after that (fingers crossed).

42,500 words and counting!
Reached my target of 30k by end of April 2017 and am now at 42,500.
It has been a very busy few weeks, to be expected in the run up to the exam period, but I am still managing to write every day and achieve a daily word count (even if I have to work until 2am to do it).
I am reading a lot of true crime and forensic science books at the moment - research for another novel still at the planning stage but also because I find them fascinating.

25,000 words this month.
April 2017 has been productive, thanks largely to time off work during the Easter break. I am 25,000 words into a new novel and should hit my first target of 30k by the end of the month.

A Backlog of Books!
I have just looked through my 'To Be Read list' and there are nearly TWO HUNDRED titles. It seems to grow every time I log on.
One of the plus sides of insomnia is more time to read but this backlog will take me a while to get through.

Motley - update
Motley - new name Harley Q - is a black tortie (black tortoiseshell. I had to look this up on the internet). She is now curled up above the drier in the utility room and looks very comfortable. Looks like she is here to stay!

9,300 words in four days!
I had a few days off work this week and started on a new short story (Vampire Hunting in the Old West 2) on Thursday. By Sunday, the story was finished, at the first edit stage, and over 9,000 words in length. Not bad going, if I do say so myself!

Motley and assorted hedgehogs
I have been adopted by a semi-feral/stray cat that just appeared one night and now has designs on moving in. It is one thing to feed Motley, named because of the unusual brown, black and ginger markings, but I am also feeding THREE hedgehogs as well.
The hogs (two juveniles & an adult) don't make much noise once they have full bellies and the cat doesn't bother them at all. If spooked, they pick up their skirts like an old maiden aunt and scuttle into the undergrowth. A few minutes later, three little brown noses peek out to see if the coast is clear.
Oh dear, I feel a children's book coming on....
