Book Drawing - Song of My Heart

This week, the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance is introducing Song of My Heart Bethany House (February 1, 2012) by Kim Vogel Sawyer
Kim Vogel Sawyer is the author of fifteen novels, including several CBA and ECPA bestsellers. Her books have won the ACFW Book of the Year Award, the Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence, and the Inspirational Readers Choice Award. Kim is active in her church, where she leads women's fellowship and participates in both voice and bell choirs. In her spare time, she enjoys drama, quilting, and calligraphy. Kim and her husband, Don, reside in central Kansas, and have three daughters and numerous grandchildren.

ABOUT THE BOOK Sadie Wagner has always been devoted to her family. So when her stepfather is injured and can't work, she decides to leave home and accept a position as a clerk at the mercantile in Goldtree, Kansas. Goldtree also offers the opportunity to use her God-given singing talent--though the promised opera house is far different from what she imagined. With her family needing every cent she can provide, Sadie will do anything to keep her job.
Thad McKane comes to Goldtree at the request of the town council. The town has been plagued by bootlegging operations, and Thad believes he can find the culprit. After he earns enough money doing sheriff work, he wants to use it to pay for his training to become a minister.
Thad is immediately attracted to the beautiful singer who performs in Asa Baxter's unusual opera house, but when he hears her practicing bawdy tunes, he begins to wonder if she's far less innocent than she seems. And when Sadie appears to be part of the very crimes he's come to investigate, is there any hope the love blossoming between them will survive? If you would like to read the first chapter of Song of My Heart, go HERE.

I don't usually participate in blog awards, but thought this one might be fun. Virginia Tenery nominated me for the Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award, so thank you very much Virginia!
*Rules for this award: thank the person who nominated you, nominate ten worthy blogs, and tell your readers seven things they might not know about you.

Seven things you might not know about me:
I sold Princess House Crystal when I was a Junior in High School.I showed Hampshire hogs in 4-H at the county fair. I watched our home burn down at the age of 15 in a robe and bare feet in the middle of December. I jumped off a runaway horse and broke my arm and wrist when I was a Freshman in High School.  I taught beginning piano lessons for eleven years, teaching all three of our daughters to play as well as many children from school.I was an avid fan of Days of Our Lives for 40 years. My parents used to watch it during their lunch break on the farm, so I became hooked on the soap opera at a very young age. I began dating a high school classmate after celebrating our 5th year high school reunion. We'll celebrate twenty-two years of wedded bliss on February 14th!My blog nominations for the Irresistibly Sweet Blog Award:

Ethan doesn't expect Audra to affect him so profoundly, and when she begins to, he's terrified of the pain he's felt before when someone he loved was seriously injured on his watch. He's determined that his new wife will do as he says so he can keep her safe from the dangers that lurk on their ranch. Audra has been cared for all her life by one man or another--and they've done a poor job of it. Now she's planning to stand up for herself. And her new husband had better agree or get out of her way!

What will it take to transform two wayward hearts fearful of getting in too deep into two trusting hearts ready to risk falling deeply in love? If you would like to read the first chapter of In Too Deep, go HERE.

Country at Heart Recipes

I've been waiting for months to share the debut of my new recipe blog ~ Country at Heart Recipes, and I'm excited to announce that the project is finally finished! (Or at least as finished as a blog can be.)

Now, before you argue that I should be writing my book, instead of messing with recipes, please know that I'm still working on Blades of Autumn. I didn't meet my January 27 goal, but it's coming along, so you'll have to stay tuned for the finish line. Until then, I encourage you to take a few minutes to browse the many additions at Country at Heart Recipes

I'll continue sharing new recipes every Friday and will probably throw in an occasional favorite from time to time. One cool item is the Featured Authors section, where I'll post favorite recipes from Christian authors twice a month--beginning next Monday, February 6!

So, please, take a moment and visit my recipe blog. Enjoy the pictures and let your mouth water. Print off a recipe or two, and Follow Me so you don't miss out on any new recipes! Oh, and be sure to tell your friends about the new blog, as I'd really appreciate the support on this new project!

Thanks for your friendship. Enjoy the moments . . .

Book Drawing - Love Blooms in Winter

This week, the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance is introducing Love Blooms in Winter Harvest House Publishers (January 1, 2012) by Lori Copeland

Lori lives in the beautiful Ozarks with her husband Lance. Lance and Lori have three sons, three daughter-in-laws, and six wonderful grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters. Lance and Lori are very involved in their church, and active in supporting mission work in Mali, West Africa.

Lori began her writing career in 1982, writing for the secular book market. In 1995, after many years of writing, Lori sensed that God was calling her to use her gift of writing to honor Him. It was at that time that Lori began writing for the Christian book market. To date, she has had over 100 books published.

ABOUT THE BOOK
A romantic new book from bestselling author Lori Copeland that portrays God's miraculous provision even when none seems possible.

1892—Mae Wilkey's sweet next-door neighbor, Pauline, is suffering from old age and dementia and desperately needs family to come help her. But Pauline can't recall having kin remaining. Mae searches through her desk and finds a name—Tom Curtis, who may just be the answer to their prayers.

Tom can't remember an old aunt named Pauline, but if she thinks he's a long-lost nephew, he very well may be. After two desperate letters from Mae, he decides to pay a visit. An engagement, a runaway train, and a town of quirky, lovable people make for more of an adventure than Tom is expecting. But it is amazing what can bloom in winter when God is in charge of things. If you would like to read the first chapter of Love Blooms in Winter, go HERE.

Mailbox Monday

It's that time of year -- tax time. If I had my way, I'd put this task off for as long as possible, but we have a daughter in college eager to get her financial aid papers turned in. So forgive me, my mind is all muddled from piles of paperwork and numbers.   Because of that, I thought today would be a good time to post another Mailbox Monday! I always enjoy receiving letters and emails from my readers. Here's one from a fellow horse-lover!
Hi Deborah, Just wanted to let you know that I just finished reading your book "Snow Melts in Spring". I loved it and just couldn't put it down. I have always loved horses, even though I don't own one. But I have horse pictures and trinkets throughout my home. It's my dream to have a horse ranch one day.  Thanks for writing this book. I'm going to purchase the second book in this series soon. Keep writing!!! Blessings, DS
And another . . .
I am enjoying your book about Mattie the Doc from the Flint Hills. I am looking forward to the next story and hope it has a lot of landscapes and horses in it. And already good old Goethe said, that every good book has to have a little travel report in it and at least one good recipe. Please notify me when the book about the Wild Horses in the Flint Hills is published. Thank you - GM
And the last one for today:
Hi Deb, Just a note to let you know how much I enjoyed reading your novel SEEDS OF SUMMER.   I loved it...absolutely loved it...You are an amazing author and storyteller. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work, Deb. As a matter of fact, I didn't realize that this was Book Two of the Seasons of the Tallgrass series until I was well into this novel. I am anxious to read Book One in this series now. I also enjoy visiting (and following) your blog. Thank you for sharing your delicious recipes, too. Blessings to you and yours. KK
