Book Review: Transcendent Loyalties by S.D. Banks!
(Image: Cover of "Transcendent Loyalties" by S.D. Banks) As promised I have another nerdy, Revolutionary-War related post for you this week: A review of S.D. Banks' Transcendent Loyalties. Man, I didn't plan to have so much to drop on here this week but I didn't have time to write this review last week like I planned, and I didn't want to wait any longer to get this review out, because, frankly, this is one of the greatest novels I've read in years. In fact, as I type this, I think this...

23, Danny, and me.
(Image: Chapter Twenty-Three, Bennie sitting in front of her computer, her head on the desk.) I did not plan this. At all.I'm posting Chapter Twenty-Three, on the 23rd. A week after making what probably shouldn't have been as mind blowing a revelation as it was.
January 23rd is not a very great day in my mind. On this day in 2002, Wall Street Journalist and all-around great guy Danny Pearl was abducted by Islamic terrorists, and he was later murdered. I won't go into the long, complicate...

Something else to read tomorrow!
Heyo!
Expect several blogs from me this week on account of the fact several nerdy shenanigans are going on in my life! First off, while you will get your chapter of Shadowchild tomorrow on schedule, I wanted to take a moment to promote my friend's work as she's resuming updates of her own tomorrow as well.
Lora Innes has been publishing The Dreame r webcomic the same length of time as Shadowchild has been around. And trust me when I say Lora's the better storyteller. The comic follows Beatri...

Chapter Twenty-Two, and the 9/11 Connection
(Image: Chapter 22, Perce is trying to sneak out of Dwendol.) Welcome back! That goes for me too; I was going to be back online last week but between transitioning back into the groove, getting sick (my mum caught the cold from hell a couple days before I left Colorado and I succumbed to it a few days later), and handling a loss in my family as well as I could from my vantage point, I honestly just forgot! That's why it's so important to have things planned out in advance. But sometimes...

Chapter Twenty-One, the Wrong End of the Semester
(Image: Chapter 21, Bennie's mother, Sandra) Ohh here we go. Bennie's busted, the world itself is all but falling down around her, and the grownups are still keeping her in the dark about her past. Gahh! And sadly that's where I may have to leave off on the story until January, because I'm working on packing logistics for my three-week stint in Colorado with my family, and it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to take my laptop. If I can I will, and I'll resume posting in two weeks (...

Chapter Twenty and High School Doodles
(Image: Chapter 22, Perce's hand with the tattoo.) Here you go, Chapter 20! Ah yes, Bennie's at that age where she's smart enough to know something's going on, but everyone thinks she's too young to understand and wants to keep her out of the loop so she can be happy and oblivious. But it doesn't work that way does it? Once you know something's up you can't be blissfully ignorant. Not to mention that being oblivious to danger doesn't make you any safer! In the words of one of my favorite...

Chapter Nineteen. Dates and Near Death Experiences
[image error] (Image: Chapter 19, Bennie and Peter hide behind a trash can.) Chapter 19 is up, and while nineteen is a lucky number for me, it may or may not be for Bennie--you decide!
Lots of action in this chapter, Bennie gets attacked by a monster and asked out by a guy. I'm not sure which is scarier! Confession: I have severe dating anxiety and I have no idea why or how to fix it. I guess I'll just be single forever. But that's ok, too. More time for writing. ;)

Chapter Eighteen, An Entirely New Chapter
(Image: Chapter 18, Bennie's kabobs on the grill.) I'm thinking about making this posting early a habit, or maybe posting on Tuesday evenings instead of midnight. We'll see.I'm posting early because it's Thanksgiving week and in the shenanigans we have planned tonight I don't want to forget to put the chapter up on Wattpad, so it's up there now. :) So why not have the blog early?
This entire chapter is actually added in, new, from the old version. Since we changed things up a bit with th...

Chapter Seventeen, Research, and Comic Relief
(Image: Chapter Seventeen, a Sword and a Battle-Axe) Chapter Seventeen is now up on Wattpad. While there's a bit of background information in this chapter and a little more mother bothers for Bennie, the primary focus of it is simply comic relief, and a little bonding time for Bennie with her new friends. Everyone needs a break, and that includes us in the real world, who have dark messes to deal with just like Bennie, but no superpowers. I hope my book helps you get a little break, and...

Film Review: The River Thief
(Image: Theatrical Poster forThe River Thief) Hello all!We take a break from your regularly scheduled programming to bring you a review of a stellar film you all should watch. Don't worry; the regular book blog will post on schedule later this week!
I just wanted to take a minute to give a shout-out to fellow author N.D. Wilsonfor his wonderful first foray into film production and to take a minute to share it with the world.
The first word that comes to mind after watching this film is "r...
