Motivational Monday - The Lord works in mysterious ways

The brand new pastor and his wife, newly assigned to their first ministry, to reopen a church in suburban Brooklyn, arrived in early October excited about their opportunities. When they saw their church, it was very run down and needed much work. They set a goal to have everything done in time to have their first service on Christmas Eve.

They worked hard, repairing pews, plastering walls, painting, etc, and on December 18 were ahead of schedule and just about finished.

On December 19, a terribl

A Smile Every Sunday - Grandma still driving

Author Unknown - She is eighty-eight years old and still drives her own car.  She writes:  Dear Grand-daughter,  The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a Honk if you love Jesus bumper sticker. I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting. So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper. Boy, am I glad I did, what an uplifting experience that followed. I was stopped at a re

May's Creative Corner - A Poem by Tonia Brown

May’s Creative Corner

Diana’s Bow

She, slung low at first,
As daylight slowly dies,
Red as blood, nestled
Between the high and rise.
Slowly drifting past the noise,
As amber as the city lights,
Past the dust and past the dreams
She crawls into the starry night.
A golden crescent scaling high
She stays for a moment, then
She arcs across the endless sky,
Like a floating Cheshire’s grin.
This silver sliver, silent now,
Aiming as she goes her way.
This quiet queen rules every night
Till her sun king breaks the da

Why do men cheat?

Last week, I blogged about a study that claimed less than 50% of men think they are attractive. Well, I began to wonder.... Is that why men cheat? Do they need that validation from other women to feel confident in themselves? Do they need a boost of ego?

I can see how easily the scenario could play out. Picture this: the man's wife nags him that morning about how he forgot to take out the trash last night. She fusses that he can't ever do anything that she asks. All she wants is a little help

Interview with J.A. Hunsinger

Welcome Novelist and Publisher Jerry A. Hunsinger! Interestingly enough, Jerry's journey into writing and publishing began with a career in aviation. He's learned a great deal along the way.

1.                  Tell me in a nutshell, who you are. You describe yourself as a novelist, yet I was surprised that you are also a publisher. How did that come about? How do you describe yourself, or how do you see yourself?

Jerry: A nutshell, huh? At my age, there is a big nutshell, but I’ll give it a

Life is so short

"Celebrate we will, because life is short but sweet for certain." -Dave Matthews Band

I knew the Dave Matthews Band was talented, but I didn't know they were also so intelligent!

I turned 30 years old in February. Wow! It feels like just yesterday that I was old enough to legally take a sip of alcohol. Where does the time go?

I want to enjoy my life. Everything seems to be going by so fast. Every morning, I get up and get my son ready for school and off to the bus. Then, I get ready for work mysel

Motivational Monday - Quotes

Motivational Quotations

It was a high counsel that I once heard given to a young person, "Always do what you are afraid to do."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Take calculated risks. That is quite different from being rash.
George S. Patton

If you do not hope, you will not find what is beyond your hopes.
St. Clement of Alexandra

We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities.
Ralph Waldo

A Smile Every Sunday - The Tiny Cabin

*THE TINY CABIN* A social worker from New York City recently transferred to the Mountains ofsouthwest Virginia. She was on the first tour of her new territory and cameupon the tiniest cabin she had ever seen in her life. Intrigued, she went up and knocked on the door. 'Anybody home?' she asked. 'Yep,' came a kid's voice through the door. Is your Pa there? Pa? Nope, he left afore Ma came in,' said the kid. 'Well, is your mother there?' persisted the social worker. 'Ma? Nope, she left just afore I

A Poem - The Curse of a Mind

The Curse of a Mind

Churning dilemmas, decisions and continuous thoughts,

It is a tiring process where answers are sought.

            ~The mind’s infinite curse~

A burden for which a penny has bought,

Jumbles of chaos, bursts of insight materialize from naught.

Uncle, uncle, I cry! It is rest I crave,

Blessed blankness or dreams on a wave,

            ~The mind’s infinite curse~

No on or off switch, no option or control until the grave,

Until then, the information I hold I have to save.
