We went live late last night with a new GCCwired.com. Here’s three things you may not know about this launch:
Old friends and the little web site that could. We had the same web site for nine years. NINE years. That’s really saying something considering it was built before smart phones, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc. And, the real miracle is that it was still working—integrating with new technologies and media like a boss. It was the little web site that could. We are so grateful for our partnership and tremendous run with the team at Aspire! One. How did they DO it? Those guys are amazing and we still look to them for counsel, creative approaches and new project ideas.
New friends and new challenges. The new GCCwired.com is not just a new web site. It’s a launch that accelerates our 2016 vision to help our people Be the Church, Activate the Campus and Reproduce at Every Level. First we launched the Early Learning Center, then , then The Eatery, Reads & Things, then the LaPorte campus and now THIS! We’re changing paradigms and couldn’t do it without the help we’ve received from Plain Joe Studios. We are venturing into places we’ve never been before and they have been like new creative, technology and strategy sherpas.
We’re live but we’re not done. Just like we started using our physical environments before all construction was 100% complete, we will do the same with our online environment. It’s 80% complete and now it’s time to let traffic start flowing through the space. This last 20% is a crucial step in the development process. We get to see how people use it. If things work like we anticipate. What needs adjusted. What bugs are hiding. We know people are going to find things and we’re loving the feedback already. This is where it gets fun.

I went to Australia (via Skype) last week to chat a bit with my friend, Steve Fogg about organizational communication, how our strategy is impacted by our new vision, social media and more. We survived wild hairs, a cold, a thunderstorm and a computer freeze. It’s all here, for your viewing pleasure. Thanks for the chat, Steve!

Four things that make teams thrive in every season.
I just found my notes from when Mark Beeson spoke to us at the REInnovate Conference a couple of months ago. Want to create and sustain a thriving team—even in the midst of difficult and painful seasons? Here are my notes from Mark’s session.
It is not beneficial to attempt this on our own. We’ve got to do it together. Every person has their role in the family effort. And there are threads that weave every role and relationship together like a fabric. That’s what makes us a team.
VISION. Vision is a picture of what could be and should be. It binds us together, it invites others to what we’re striving for. If this is clear—it’s a deal maker. If this is not clear— it’s a deal breaker. Those who determine there is worth to the shared vision can do a great work together—more than any of us could ever do solo. [Everything we do is run through, points back to and advances this shared vision.]
LEADER. People will join a team because they reasonate with and appreciate a leader, or not. Integrity and servanthood matters in leaders. Leaders face temptations to steer off course and can be undone by their own temptation, vulnerabilities and weaknesses. When the pressure is on, what is true about you will be revealed to the world. Deal with your soul. It is only possible to deceive people for a short time.
TEAMMATES. This has impact on the unity of the team. I can’t work with people who will betray, wound, disparage and gossip about me.
VALUES. When we all agree THIS is how we are going to treat each other, our daily mission is cohesive. [Our team values.]
