Kenneth Cutler's Blog, page 2

2016 begins.
Holidays are over. Back to work. Have finished writing eleven chapters of the new novel I'm working on. Little by little it's starting to come together.
Reading: started Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist. Only a short way into it, but enjoying the tale.
Finished putting together a booklet called: 'Abdu'l-Bahá: Photos and Anecdotes. It's in Spanish, about 80 pages long, and each page has a photo with an anecdote below. The purpose of the booklet is to give the youth of these Central American countries (as well as their seniors) an opportunity to better know 'Abdu'l-Bahá and how he led his life.

Current Readings
Just finished Tolstoy's Anna Karenina. Had never read it before and found it amazing. A little long (over 800 pages) but I really didn't want it to end. Tolstoy was brilliant in the developing of the characters, the settings, and the social conditions of his time. He wrote it in the 1870s, yet much of what he concerned himself with are still the concerns of today. The themes are universal.
I'm presently reading Joan Baez's Daybreak. I've always admired her as a singer and as a social activist. I didn't know she had written a book. Her writing style is very creative and has to do with life around her and the people who impressed her in her daily life rather than her professional life. I've only thirty pages to go to finish the book (191 pages) and she's yet to mention her singing. I love her spirit and compassion for those around her.

Reckonings
      My first blog:
Presently in the early stages of writing a new novel, which, so far, has been exploring the developing inter-relationships of a tour group with a setting in Panajachel, Chichicastenango, and Antigua, Guatemala. Later it will move into Honduras, Marblehead, Massachusetts, and Haifa, Israel.
After the holidays, I've been invited to meet with two classes of high school students who will have finished reading the Spanish translation of The Reckonings of Doña Maria del Carmen (El Alma de Doña Maria del Carmen). That's always fun. It's the first time they've ever read a book and had the chance to meet the author, ask questions about the book to its writer, and have him sign their copies.
Happy Holidays to everyone who reads this!!!
