Hey, y’all!
I know most of you who are reading this probably already own Club Shadowlands. But if you haven’t read it or if you have a friend who’d like to try it, the eBook Club Shadowlands is now free in all the usual places (Amz, B&N, iBooks, Kobo…).

And, in other happy news, I just handed in Masters of the Shadowlands 8: If Only (proposed title) to my editor, and she said we’re still on target for a November 5th release date.

Y’all probably noticed right away that this Masters of the Shadowlands book has a different look to the cover art. Right? That’s because the story is the August release for the 1001 Dark Nights.

And now you’re asking, “What is the 1001 Dark Nights project?”

The series was inspired by the exotic tales in the 1700’s book, Arabian Nights. In the original novel, Scheherazade desperately tries to postpone her execution by entertaining her husband, the King of Persia, with nightly stories...like “Aladdin,” “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves,” and the “Seven Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor.”

But we’re female. We want romance!

So, in this modern version, once every month, one of the 12 NYT and USA Today Bestselling authors adds a unique spin to bring you a magnificent happy-ever-after romance.

I was thrilled to be invited to join the group of authors, but then couldn’t figure out what to give them for a story. However, Liz Berry, a co-founder of the project, wasn’t shy. She wanted me to give Rainie, a Shadowlands trainees, to Master Jake.

Sigh of relief. I now had a hero and heroine, however unlikely a couple.

But how to start the story? While I mused, I watched the rain coming down—which it does a whole lot up here in the Pacific Northwest—and remembered the torrential downpours in Tampa. Entire intersections would fill with water.

Okay, that wasn’t bad. So, I had one Shadowlands trainee. In traffic. In the rain. Streets are slick. And, when in doubt—add a dog.
