Talk About It Tuesday: Letting Go

Well, we missed our Monday post so I'm combining both Monday's music theme with today's Talk About It theme.

Those who have followed us for awhile know what we have gone through to make my Jaimie's life better. It is still a daily struggle but she is so much stronger than she was. She just left on a three-day ski trip. Part of my heart hurt watching her go, but most of it was so proud to see her go.

This is a girl who was afraid to leave the house. She couldn't get her body to work the way she...

Writing Prompt Wednesday: Releasing Anger

Anger is probably the most common and easily felt emotion that exists. It doesn't make it right but if you know how to channel it right, and how to deal with it, it won't overpower you.

You can never allow anger to overpower you.

I know.

I have always used writing and exercise as ways to cope with anger. It is a way to channel that negative energy into something more positive.

What do YOU do to re-direct your anger?

That is your writing prompt for today. Share how you do it or write a story about...

Talk About It Tuesday: Chynna's Top Three "Self's"

There are many 'selfs' we deal with in our lives. These are the things that shape who we are, how we react to things and guide us in what we do in our daily lives. We may not always understand them, and can often be sidetracked by other things, but our 'selfs' are very important.

Today, we are going to talk about the three 'selfs' I hold most dear: self-motivation, self-esteem and self-confidence. Many of us don't realize how very closely these are related, but they are. When one is out of bal...

Writing Prompt Wednesday: Picture Cue

Many of the short stories I've written, as well as a few of my novels, have stemmed from pictures I've seen. I don't know how to describe it other than an entire story pops into my head just from seeing the picture.

There is a reason they say, "A picture tells a thousand words". Sometimes they can tell you hundreds of thousands.

For today's prompt, I thought I'd share this photo I came across, as I've already come up with a story based on it.

See what you can come up with, whether a novel, a sho...

Talk About It Tuesday: Fear

Fear.

It is one of the things that everyone on earth has in common. No matter where you're from, what you do, or what your experiences have been we all share that common emotion.

Some of us are scared of creepy crawlies. Some of certain kinds of people. The dark, small spaces, heights...there are too many to list, but we all have at least one.

I am Claustrophobic. I HATE being held down (seat belts drive me inSANE). I don't like being touched/hugged unless I initiate it, especially my face. I do...

Happy New Year! Good bye to 2015...

Today is normally a day when we highlight other authors and professionals in the field but today...I want to do a 'Top Ten' tribute to my favourite highlights of 2015, in celebration of New Year's.

Okay...

Here we go...

(And this is in no real particular order).

10. My oldest's 12th birthday: As many of you know, Jaimie has faced many challenges in her life. The fact that she got to her 12th bday and was so happy, playing with friends and enjoying herself, was such an amazing thing.

9. Jordy facin...

Talk About It Tuesday: Learning to Let Go...

Okay, let's be shoot-from-the-hip for a moment.

I am a Scottish/Irish, Taurean and a woman. Let's just say that I get set off very easily and it's hard to calm me down. lol

But I know these things about myself:

~ I know that I'm defensive.

~ I know that I am reactive.

~ I know I have a tendency to take things in a way that wasn't intended.

~ I'm always ready for a fight, even when it wasn't meant to be one.

I know.

And it isn't just because of my heritage, gender or astrological sign. I grew up in a...

Bing Crosby & Martha Mears - White Christmas (1942)

Happy Monday, everyone. For today's Music day I am sharing my all-time favorite Christmas video/song of all time.

Not only does it make me love this time of year, it reminds me of Christmas with my grandparents, who I miss terribly.

I hope you are all enjoying your Holiday preparations, love and family. That's what this time of year is all about.

Writing Sample Saturday: A Snippet From Blackbird Flies

Hi everyone! I know that I've been MIA lately. I'm so sorry.

We've had alot going on around here...some good, some bad...and, in life, we need to put our focus where it's absolutely needed. We all have different distractions that pull us in different directions, but sometimes...we need to have tunnel vision for the things that require the most attention.

And that's what I've been doing.

BUT I wanted to let you know that we are re-publishing my first YA book, Blackbird Flies. We'll have a brand n...

A Special Post: Remembrance Day

Today is Remembrance Day. We celebrate those who have fought and died for us. We also help remember those going through Post-Traumatic Syndrome stemming from those who have had to deal with all of this. My book, Dark Water, is created in appreciation for these people.

Today, in my appreciation to those of you who have fought...who have had to endure the chaos you've had to deal with...who have had to seen others die to save others...who have had to live when others couldn't...

...I am promoting...
