Foodie Fridays ~ Let's Talk About Protein

As you know, we usually try to share wonderful recipes on our Foodie day. Today, however, in light of my own health struggles of late, I thought we'd focus on one aspect of health eating: protein.
Now, I have brushed on this in a few pasts posts but today's focus is not only going to be explaining the importance of ensuring your feeding your body enough protein, but you are feeding it the right kinds. We'll include some top general and non-meat choices here.
I...

Writing Sample Wednesday ~ Out Of Sync

Out Of Sync was born from a dream I had (which most of my works usually are). It is a murder/mystery filled with twists and turns with a young woman, who is a Forensic Psychologist, doing everything she can to bring down the psychotic killer who murdered her husband.
This book is close to my heart in that I also submitted it to my instructor in my novel writing course in University. She actually...

Music Mantra Monday ~ The Comfort of Music

Next to reading and my writing, music has always been a tool I use to help me release anxiety and worry. Reading and writing are ways to take yourself to a place different from what surrounds you. Reading takes you to a different world while writing is a way to create that world. Music, however, ca...

Foodie Friday ~ Taco Tortilla Bake

Nah!
It's been awhile since we shared a great recipe so that's what we're doing today.
We have a couple family members here who have special nutritional needs right now (myself included) so we really have to watch labels, how we cook food and what we ingredients we use. In our house right now high protein, higher calorie and 'good' fat meals that are low in sodium are what we need...

Wednesday Writing Sample - Passing Loop (WIP)

I am happy to say that I've finally been able to sit down and work on my own stuff, around all the proofreading and editing I've been doing. I have to say, it feels very good to be back in the swing of things, even if it's starting off a bit slower than I usually do.
Today's sample comes from my YA (WIP) Passing Loop. It is the story of three generations of women who are reunited in a time of tremendous tragedy. But, you all know me. I add a bit of humor and a fe...

Music Mantra Monday - Fight Song (Rachel Platten)
.
Hi everyone. I can't apologize enough for not keeping up with our blog and staying in contact with our readers. But...sometimes...life gets in the way and you have to put some things on hold for other things that are more important.
The last few months have been quite a tornado around here, to say the least, for me and my little family. I won't go into too much detail at this time, although I have eluded to a few issues through things we post about.
All I can share at this time is that I am ok...

Writing Sample Wednesday: A Taste From Book #2 in the Watcher Series (Still Water)

Well, we sort of got behind in our posts this week. Unfortunately, we've had an ugly flu rip through our house and guess who got it right after each of the kids did?
Yup...me.
Oh well, with all of us on the mend again we'll get right back into it.
A few weeks ago , I shared the Prologue from the next book in my Watcher series (Dark Water was the first). Today, I'm going to give you another little taste with our first chapter that introduces the main character.
We might share one more snippet, then...
