FROSTBORN: THE SHADOW PRISON on Google Play!
I was looking at the bestseller lists on Google Play and I saw this, which was a pleasant sight. Thanks everyone!
That makes me look forward to starting SEVENFOLD SWORD: CHAMPION next month, once GHOST IN THE RING is done.

GHOST IN THE RING writing goals part 2
I had a lot of Real Life business to transact last week, but I still got to my writing goal of 60,000 words of GHOST IN THE RING by the morning of 5/13. In fact, I actually got to 63,600!
So, time for a new writing goal! I want to be 90,000 words into GHOST IN THE RING by the morning of Saturday 5/20. Let’s see if I get there or not!

GHOST IN THE RING progress update
Now on chapter 11 of 21 of GHOST IN THE RING. I had wanted to be up to 50,000 words by today, but I’m actually at 51,200, so that’s good.
I’m afraid work here in Real Life is going to eat up most of my writing time this week, but I do hope to be up to 60,000 words in GHOST IN THE RING by Saturday. Let’s see how close I get!

I’m working on GHOST IN THE RING as my main project right now, but I’ve also started on CLOAK GAMES: HAMMER BREAK, the eighth book in the CLOAK GAMES series.
If all goes well, I hope my publication schedule for summer 2017 will look like this:
June: GHOST IN THE RING
July: SEVENFOLD SWORD: CHAMPION
August: CLOAK GAMES: HAMMER BREAK

GHOST IN THE RING underway!
Now that FROSTBORN: THE SHADOW PRISON is done, it’s time to go full speed ahead on GHOST IN THE RING!
I am presently on Chapter 9 of 21, and 43,000 words into the rough draft. I want to finish the rough draft before the end of May, and if all goes well, it should be out in June.
I’ll also have a really cool bonus for newsletter subscribers when GHOST IN THE RING comes out, so if you haven’t subscribed to my new release newsletter, this is a good time.
Now, a brief preview from GHOST IN THE RING:
To Caina’s surprise, a flicker of recognition went over the Umbarian’s face. Had she met him somewhere? No, she had never seen the man before, she was sure of it. But had he seen her before?
“Provost,” said the Umbarian. “I didn’t realize you would be here in person. We’ve located the relic, but I cannot breach the wards upon the doors to the vault. I…”
He fell silent, his eyes narrowing.
“No,” he said. “No, you’re not her.” He drew himself up, the fear draining from his face as rage took its place. “Who are you?”

FROSTBORN retrospective #1
Note that this post has !!!SPOILERS!!! for the first fourteen books in FROSTBORN.
I have to admit that finishing the FROSTBORN series made me nostalgic. After all, it was fifteen novels and a whole lot of short stories in four years. Also, I re-read a bunch of the previous books while writing FROSTBORN: THE SHADOW PRISON, and I listened to the first two audiobooks, so it was a bit of a trip down memory lane.
I really liked this scene in FROSTBORN: THE IRON TOWER:
“We won,” said Mara. She sounded stunned.
“We did,” said Ridmark.
“Was this…was this your plan?” said Mara.
“Not at all,” said Ridmark.
“Then…then you really are just a madman with a stick, aren’t you?” said Mara. She began to laugh, and then covered her face.
I always liked Ridmark’s and Mara’s interactions. They sort of take turns playing the protective older brother or the wiser older sister as the situation demands.
But! In the original outline for the FROSTBORN series, Mara wasn’t supposed to appear again after THE IRON TOWER. I had planned her as Jager’s vaguely good-natured girlfriend, and she would stay behind when Jager accompanied Ridmark and the others to Urd Morlemoch.
But when I got to her first scene in THE MASTER THIEF, I was bored with her character, so I threw in the detail that she was half dark elf without thinking it through. Because of that, the path of the whole rest of the story changed – the Traveler, Nightmane Forest, the Anathgrimm, and the character of Third all came from that snap decision.

FROSTBORN: THE SHADOW PRISON now available!
I am pleased to report that FROSTBORN: THE SHADOW PRISON is now available at Amazon US, Amazon UK, Amazon Germany, Amazon Canada, Amazon Australia, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, iBooks, Google Play, and Smashwords.
Ridmark Arban is ready to face the terrible Frostborn in a final battle.
But even the mighty Frostborn themselves have been duped, for the shadow of Incariel has used them as its weapons.
Unless Ridmark can defeat the Shadowbearer, the shadow of Incariel shall rise and devour the world for all time…
