I have settled on a Table of Contents for DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN, which you can see below.

If all goes well (always a dangerous assumption), the book will be out sometime next week.

DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN book description

I have settled on the book description for DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN:

The tide of war engulfs two worlds.

Ridmark has liberated Cintarra from the dark legions of the Heptarchy. But the Heralds of Ruin now march upon Cathair Kaldran, which holds a source of unimaginable power.

And if the Heralds claim that power, countless worlds will burn to ashes.

To defeat them, Ridmark must take up a weapon that might consume him.

Once again he must wield the Sword of the Dragon Knight…

DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN brief excerpt

Working on DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN today. Let’s have a brief excerpt!

###

“The curse of immortality,” said Rilmael, “is that eventually you outlive all your friends.”

“Yes,” said Third. “But perhaps we are mourning over something that will never happen. The good news is we may all die tomorrow.”

Rilmael snorted. “Ever the optimist.”

###

In addition to the THE FIRST SORCERESS, I will probably give away some older short stories a few weeks after DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN comes out. One of them will be SHIELD KNIGHT: THIRD’S TOWER, which will have an updated cover!

Sign Up For My Newsletter And Get A Preview Of The DRAGONSKULL Series!

When DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN comes out, I will give away free copies of the short story THE FIRST SORCERESS to my newsletter. Be sure to subscribe now!

THE FIRST SORCERESS will be a preview of my new epic fantasy series, which will be called DRAGONSKULL. Here are three small preview details:

1.) The series will take place in Andomhaim and involve the children of Ridmark and Calliande.

2.) THE FIRST SORCERESS is the origin story of the central villain of DRAGONSKULL.

3.) The woman on the cover is a spiderling priestess. Specifically, a Quaesitor. We previously encountered Quaesitors in DRAGONTIARNA: VISIONARY.

Further details will have to await until I actually write the book. 🙂

DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN cover image!

Editing is underway for DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN, so it’s time to share the cover image!

As with all the other covers in the DRAGONTIARNA series, the cover was done by the excellent Clarissa Yeo.

I am hoping that DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN will be available before the end of June.

DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN rough draft done!

I am pleased to report that the rough draft of DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN is done at 118,000 words!

Next up is THE FIRST SORCERESS, a bonus short story I will give away for free to my newsletter subscribers when DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN comes out. THE FIRST SORCERESS will be a preview of what my next epic fantasy series will be about, which means that I have decided what will happen in my next epic fantasy series. Or I will have once I start actually writing THE FIRST SORCERESS. 🙂

Anyway, part of the reason is it took so long to write DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN is that it had nine – nine! – point of view characters who all had significant scenes. So just to amuse myself, I thought I would total up all the characters in the DRAGONTIARNA series who had POV scenes.

The total came to 23 characters. 23!

I think for a change of pace CLOAK OF BLADES will have Nadia’s perspective alone. 🙂

Meanwhile, the POV characters of the DRAGONTIARNA series!

1.) Ridmark Arban

2.) Tyrcamber Rigamond

3.) Third of Nightmane Forest

4.) Niall of Ebor

5.) Moriah Rhosmor

6.) Calliande Arban

7.) Morigna

8.) Aeliana Carhaine

9.) Ricatus Eborium

10.) Agravhask of Mazulrast

11.) Solthalis

12.) Accolon Pendragon

13.) Cyprian of the Scepter Bank

14.) The Theophract

15.) High Priestess Mayascora

16.) High Priestess Taztaloria

17.) Valeria Tempus

18.) The Warden

19.) Mhalkhor

20.) Dagobert Rigamond

21.) Brunhilda Tetrax

22.) Malabrance of Khaldurmar

23.) Sekadura

DRAGONTIARNA: CROWNS & VISIONARY audio preorder!

I am pleased to report that you can now preorder the audiobook of DRAGONTIARNA: CROWNS & VISIONARY from Amazon and Audible, as excellently narrated by Steven Brand.  The audiobook will be out on June 29th, so preorder now!

Also, since I’m now on Chapter 25 of 30 of the final book in the series, DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN, it seems like a good time to share a post from summer 2020 detailing the five main characters of the DRAGONTIARNA series.

###

The five protagonists of the DRAGONTIARNA series:

-RIDMARK ARBAN is the Shield Knight of Andomhaim. He’s tired of battle and adventure, and wants to live in peace with his wife and children. But the rifts are opening in the sky, the dragons are coming, and the Heralds of Ruin are on the move.

-TYRCAMBER RIGAMOND is the only Dragontiarna Knight of the Empire, left grim and shaken by the horror of his transformation. He’s already saved the Empire once, but more lands than the Empire need a Dragontiarna Knight to defend them. For the Theophract, the ancient dark elven sorcerer, is spinning new webs of evil in the shadow.

-THIRD OF NIGHTMANE FOREST is half human, half dark elf. Once an enslaved urdhracos, Third is now renowned as one of the greatest warriors in Andomhaim. In a thousand years of life she has faced challenges that few could imagine, but greater foes await her.

-NIALL OF EBOR simply wants to be a farmer and take care of the aunt who raised him. But when his lord encloses his family’s land and drives them off his farm, Niall soon discovers that something more sinister than greed motivates the corrupt nobles of Cintarra.

-MORIAH RHOSMOR is the bastard daughter of a minor noble of Cintarra. She is also the legendary master thief called the Wraith, seeking to avenge the death of her two best friends at the hands of a sinister cult called the Drakocenti.

Start the epic DRAGONTIARNA series today! Available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Apple Books, Google Play, Scribd, Audible, and Smashwords!

In this week’s episode of the Pulp Writer Show, I ask for fantasy book recommendations from readers. Thanks for your recommendations, everyone! There were numerous writers I’d never heard of before.

I also talk about the pros and cons of writing via dictation and speech-to-text software.

As always, you can listen to the show on Libsyn, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and Amazon Music.

Real Life Writes The Plot!

Reader Dennis asks to write:

“Whatever happened to Cloak of Blades, Nadia next adventure supposed to be available in 2020 according to the end of Cloak of Ashes.”

Ah. Well. The pandemic and various knock-off effects changed my publishing plans quite a bit in 2020.

But! We’re almost halfway through 2021, and if all goes well, after DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN comes out I will start writing CLOAK OF BLADES.

Real Life decisions sort of drove the plot here. I originally planned to write DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN and then GHOST IN THE SUN immediately afterward. But part of my long-term strategy for audiobooks is to start putting out more recent books (like CLOAK MAGE) in audiobook form, rather than old one. So way back at the start of 2021 I confidently agreed to have CLOAK OF BLADES recorded in August, certain I would have both DRAGONTIARNA and GHOST NIGHT completed with ample time to allow me to finish CLOAK OF BLADES by the end of July.

But DRAGONTIARNA: STORMS took waaaay longer to write than I thought, and I was sick for a while in March, so I got behind. Also, DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN is going to be on the longer side as well. The end effect of all this is that after I finish DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN, my next book will be CLOAK OF BLADES, and it’s coming out before August 1st. 🙂

Meanwhile, I am 85,000 words into DRAGONTIARNA: WARDEN, which puts me on Chapter 20 of 30. Almost 2/3 of the way there!
