Morning Ablutions

My morning schedule usually goes like this:

1. Wake up

2. Check FB and Twitter in bed on phone to make sure the world hasn’t exploded overnight

3. Shuffle to the bathroom and brush my teeth

4. Make a cup of hot lemon tea

5. Shuffle to the computer

It’s important to note that, at this point, I’m still wearing whatever I’ve worn to sleep. It’s also important to note that my face could be used to grease a pan.

Usually, my husband leaves for work around this time and it’s around 9 to 9:30 that I finally decide that I should not wander around in a state of dishabille. I take a shower, put on some fresh clothes and then guess what?

Shuffle back to the computer.

Then, hopefully some writing gets done, some art gets drawn, some reasonably healthy food gets eaten, and some books get read. To be honest, I lead a pretty darn indolent life. No kids, dual income, three cats. To be quite frank, the idea of being a parent is more than a little frightening. So, to all parents…

YOU ROCK.

My goals for today are as follows:

1. 1.5k new words for HMM #2

2. 1.5k new words for DARK MOON RISING

3. Make editing checklist for THE HANDSOME DEVIL #2

I’ve really got to figure out how to combat my terror of opening up the editorial notes for THD #2. Liquor sounds pretty good. Now, if only I wasn’t allergic to it…

I’m not dead. But still writing!

It’s almost been two months since my last post, mea culpa, mea culpa.

A lot has happened. I went to LA to visit some extended family, then went on a tour around the western part of the States, including a trip to Vegas, Grand Canyon, San Fran, Yosemite, etc etc.

Writing happened too. So did publishing.

In fact, I’m not entirely sure where to start.

ASURA NIGHT is out for sale. Woohoo. This is book 1 of The Immortals series, I foresee another four books for this story, but I’m not sure when Book 2 is coming out. I’ve been working on other projects, so it’s waiting in the wings, quietly whispering my name. I’d like to get started on the first draft sometime in July, but no promises yet. I will definitely post here when I’m ready to get started with the first draft.

I’ve started writing some historical erotic romances under a super seekrit penname that I am not entirely comfortable sharing at the moment. Book 1 is complete and out to the public, and I’m working on finishing the first draft of Book 2 by this Saturday. I hope to release Book 2 and 3 by the end of this month.

DARK MOON RISING and THE HANDSOME DEVIL #2 are still plodding along. DARK MOON RISING is halfway through the first draft and THE HANDSOME DEVIL…well, suffice to say, it was supposed to be out to the public a few days ago and that just didn’t happen. My fault. I got the edits back a while ago and…it was clear that a lot of work needed to be done. The tentative release date for THE HANDSOME DEVIL: A ONE NIGHT AFFAIR is set for the end of this month.

On the other hand, THE HANDSOME DEVIL #3 aka HIS UNTIL DAWN is about halfway finished, woo. It is definitely the end of the series, putting KISSING THE BOSS series to an end. In the future, I may revisit Rika and Nobuki in side stories and novellas, but for now, I’ll be glad to say goodbye and wish them well.

THE HANDSOME DEVIL: HIS UNTIL DAWN will probably not be out until this fall, unfortunately, but I will definitely post updates when the first draft is complete.

In other news, I’ll be going back to Chicago from the 24th of June to the 4th of August. Then we’ll be going to Taiwan for a week in the middle of August, so lots of traveling. Plus, I’ll be going to Korea for National Week in October. I’ve been going abroad approximately every two months since 2016 began. It’s a little nuts, but I enjoy the traveling. The layovers in sterile airpots, not so much, but you can’t have everything. All this traveling is probably the reason why I’m not saving a great deal of money, LOL.

Okay, I think that’s all for now. I’d like to post more often, so beginning tomorrow, I’m going to make the effort to update again, if it’s just a line or two. Fresh content makes a blog go ’round and unfortunately this blog right now is about as stale as a month-old baguette.

Vietnamese Coffee to the Rescue!!!

So…lots of crap going on.

Good crap, but just…a lot of it. Sometimes, I take a look at my to-do list and feel something constricting my neck, an invisible collar that won’t loosen no matter how many times I swallow. I have to take a deep breath, step back and tell myself that everything is okay, that I can do this. Most of the time, it works. Other times, I just crawl back into bed and pray to God the world explodes so I don’t have to work, LOL.

Also, I’m going to LA for two weeks, traveling with my parents, which is something I have not done since high school. While I am looking forward to the chance of being with my parents for longer than a few days, I also look at my April publishing schedule and try not to pass out. Things are going to be busy, busy in 2016, and March/April is certainly no impression.

ASURA NIGHT will be out on 3/30th.

THE HANDSOME DEVIL: A ONE NIGHT AFFAIR will be out on 4/12.

ASURA NIGHT is currently going through the last stages of proofing while THD#2 is with a beta-reader.

I am also typing in a few words in two other manuscripts: THD#3 (no title just yet) and Blood Martyr #4: Dark Moon Rising.

To say I am busy is…a bit of an understatement. Not to mention, my part-time tutoring gig just started up again this week (after a month of rest), so that’s my weekday night-times gone.

Luckily, I have a new tool to boost productivity!

When my husband came back from Vietnam a few weeks ago, he came bearing gifts: bags of Vietnamese coffee and a coffee filter. While I am a coffee fan, I didn’t know much about Vietnamese coffee. He made a cup and I was blown away. Vietnamese coffee is kind of similar to Cafe Bombon in how you brew it, with condensed milk at the bottom, although to a smaller ratio…or maybe not, depending on your preference.

Vietnamese coffee is different from your normal ground coffee. I took a look at the ingredients label and saw coffee…rum…butter…carmel (did they mean caramel?)…O__O In any case, this kind of coffee is sweet, smooth and very rich. I don’t recommend drinking too much in one go and I definitely don’t recommend it on an empty stomach. I’m told it is usually drunken (drank? wtf?) as a dessert and after tasting it, I can see why. My husband said he drank three as a hangover cure and it was better than…whatever people do to recover from hangovers.

If you get the chance, I really do recommend trying this style of coffee.

Therefore, I’ve pretty much given up on Americanos and lattes. Good thing I still make espresso for my husband in the mornings to take to work, otherwise the machine would probably have gotten stowed in the back of a cabinet somewhere. Although, now that I think about it, it would clear counter space…

Well, that’s all from me today. I’ve been a little lax on the blog entries lately…too busy editing crappy prose, LOOOL.

Bite Unpublished for Now

Hi, all. I’ll write a longer, more indepth blog post when I come back from vacation, but I just wanted to throw out a quick note that BITE, the 2nd book in the Blood Martyr series has been taken off Amazon for a bit while I address a multitude of errors and formatting issues.

But I should have it back up by the 28th, so hang in there!

Starting THD #3!

I seriously meant to post this sooner, but got kind of carried away on a bunch of other stuff, sooo…

Much apologies, mea culpa, mea culpa.

So!

Just finished plotting the sequel to The Handsome Devil: A One Night Affair. No title yet, but I’m sure that will come once I get really deep into the 1st draft. At least, I hope it will.

Turns out that the 3rd book in the Kissing the Boss series just might be the last one! Or it might not. There might still be more to tell with Nobuki and Rika’s story, but for now, it’s looking like they’ll get their HEA after all. Which is great. I love telling stories, but I’m not a big fan of really long series. Now, don’t get me wrong. I don’t plan on leaving them completely alone. I would like to explore Ayaka’s story, as well as Tadashi Murai and even Haru the Fox and I’m sure when their story gets told, Rika and Nobuki will be coming up from time to time. I might do a novella involving them in the future, but the way things are looking, the 3rd book will probably be the last full-length book involving just them.

(says that now but will probably write something to the contrary in the future, LOL)

So…since I’m finished with the 1st draft of THD #2, I want to share the new cover with you.

I anticipate a late March, early April release. I would like to get it released sooner, but I’ll be traveling the later half of this month and I’m starting up my part-time classes again in March, so things will be kind of crazy until mid-March. On the other hand, I plan on finishing THD #3 before I leave for Korea, so maybe there will be back to back releases of the two books
